    I am a big fan of your books and have learned a lot from this tutorial - mainly that I use far too little pigment and water resulting in faint lackluster painting. I particularly liked the way you painted te sky. Thank you for your inspiration.

    The journey from looking at these lovely scenes in a book as a kid, to growing and being able with practice to actually paint these scenes on paper oneself... is extraordinary. You have chosen a good path Charlie and congratulations. 🎨🎨🎨

    please, please please continue to use this new palette you have. It makes your technique so much more accessible because we can actually see the consistency of the paint you're mixing in your palette which is as, if not more important than what goes on in the painting.

    Love this interpretation of what could otherwise have been a bit of a boring view. I'll definitely have a go at this. When I tried your last painting of your friend's house I finally cracked my problem of painting trees. (because I wasn't trying so hard?) Can't wait to see what this one helps me with. Thanks

    I love this Charles. We're from Yorkshire but have been over The Causeway mant times on our frequent trips to Northumberland ( and never once got caught out by the tide)!!

    Glad to see another of your tutorials. Even though I'm subscribed to your page I hardly ever see them. Utube! Love the painting. Next time you come to the states you should drive along the St. George peninsula, Owls Head, and Spruce Head. The most beautiful scenery here.

    I enjoyed this one. When you say ‘Dark sky, scary!!’ You’re just ahead of my thinking wow that’s going to be interesting! I need to experiment with that, it certainly makes a dramatic sky. And of course see the ‘master of shadows’ did not disappoint!! Thanks and best regards to the missus!

    Damn! I was going to retire to my bed thinking that I may not be able to paint very well, but I know that Christopher Lee was in The Wicker Man, not Peter Cushing and therefore I am somehow improved. Then your better half took even that away from me!
    Love the videos and the fact that Gail (?) is a classic British movie fan.

    Thank you once again for a wonderful lesson. Your generosity has no bounds. In my attempts at practising skies, I use a 3/4" Aquafine (one stroke) brush. However, my skies always end up banded and streaky. I wonder if the problem is the brush, ie, "one stroke". Must admit I hadn't noticed when I bought it.

    Ahhh, Lindisfarne... My ancestors visited in 793. I dream of metal detecting there, but I'm pretty sure that's a big no-no. Would be nice to visit thought.

    that monastery is the reason Easter is never in the same day as the Monks figured out the tides in 668 and to this day you can walk to the island and attend mass on Easter Sunday.

    Always like the fact that you show everything, even mistakes. Makes the amateur feel more confident, I reckon. Also, clean pallet, WOW! I must have OCD or something and I have to clean everything after I've used it. I have sometimes wondered how much value in paint is on your dirty old pallet and what colours you'd make up if you dug deep into the piles. 🤣 Love it.
