In the late 1970s, I was an LAPD patrol officer in Pacific Palisades, CA. I walked a beat in "The Village" of PP and would often see and chat with Ted Knight. He was equally funny off-screen as he was on-screen. A very kind gentleman. Thanks for remembering him, Steve.
Answering your question, I would like to be buried next to Carol Burnett. I had a horrible childhood and she provided the only consistent laughter to ease my pain for 11 years. Thank you, Carol! I'm so glad we had this time together.
Thanks for the video Steve. Great job. Because of his great head of silver hair I always thought that Ted Knight was MUCH older than he actually was. Such a talented man. He was also a ventriloquist. He was hugely proud of his Polish heritage. May all of those whose graves visit on your videos rest in peace.
I love it when they send me your Greatest Hits Steve. Loved the MTM show and Ted Baxter. I can't think of a famous person to be burried by. So, I'll stick with my Mom and Dad! 😃
Thank you for returning to Valerie Harper's grave. The yellow flowers were breathtaking!!!! Ted Knight was so funny in Caddyshack!!! Thank you again, for your great videos.
A lot had money far less than you would think. Betty white kept working in part to make sure she had enough. Look at homer pyler. His show was done years ago. Back then, stares got little to nothing in residuals. Carol Burnet did some shows, but her money ended in the 70's. Even big stars like Lucy Jackie Gleason had modest graves
I so loved Mary Tyler Moore and the show, it was the best, she is what I aspired to be.. Ted and Georgian tickled me. What a fun time to grow up. So lucky to have seen television at it's finest.
Aside from religious reasons, you are correct. Headstones are usually placed a few months after burial so the ground can settle. It prevents them from leaning. It also can take time for the engraving to be completed once the death date is determined.
We watched The Mary Tyler Moore show consistently for years . We loved Ted night's ,Ted Baxter character. A lovely video and very interesting. Always enjoy them👍👍🤗🤗
Thank you Steve for this vlog, I find it interesting some graves are so simple and others are really eye catching. I guess it is all down to what the person wanted. RIP Ted Knight, Georgia Engels, Valerie Harper.

I was at a taping of too close for comfort many many years ago of course and was hoping to possibly say to ted in passing that we have the same last name, but he just didn’t get close enough to where I was sitting in the studio ...

I have worked at a funeral home for 43 years, they generally don’t put the monument on the grave, it is placed on solid ground at the head or foot so it will be stable and does not need to be moved when the husband or wife’s grave is dug. It cost time and money to move monuments when you don’t have to if placed correctly. Enjoy your videos. Excellent, as usual, Steve! I am again impressed by the beauty of the California cemeteries. That alone is reason enough for people to subscribe to your channel! Your guess on allowing the soil to settle is why most gravestones are not placed until usually six months or so after a person's burial. A much as I like to dazzle folks with my knowledge, I did look this up to be certain. One can always do as my Dad did, though, and have a marker placed years ahead of time. I know this gives some "the creeps" for reasons not that clear to me, knowing that we all have a data with our final resting places eventually. Or we all do unless perhaps the Comte de Saint Germain is still out there somewhere under yet another alias... On what famous person I would like to be laid to rest next to, almost impossible to pick just one, there are so many I admire. Among artists, van Gogh would be a good choice; his tragic life has always fascinated me. Author Ray Bradbury would be another; he was quite gracious to to a near- nobody fan, something I always appreciated. My family helped settle this particular region in the Revolutionary War era, (evidently, the mountainous areas were not of much interest to most colonials in that time), and to start at least two small, quaint cemeteries. I expect my plot at the older one beside my father will be the place, in the end (no pun intended).
It's amazing that so many of the MTM cast are still alive considering the show ended in 1977. (My choice for a burial neighbor would be Charlie Chaplin--the most important person in movie history.)
Steve.... I do remember when the Mary Tyler Moore Show made all of Pittsburgh very angry. Her show one week prior to Superbowl 9 (Steelers vs Vikings) had a segment that stated that the Vikings had won the event. Well it did not happen. Pgh went nuts demanding the show be dropped from local programming. Well off to coffee. Be well. Best from Vegas

Me too. My sister's boyfriend told her to scatter his ashes with the dogs she had buried in her backyard. She raised Yorkshire Terriers for many years. He loved those little dogs.
I agree, Steve, I will likely be cremated, no funeral, and buried next to my mother ( she turned 90 this year and is in remarkable health for her age, thank the Good Lord) and who’s to say she won’t outlive me? But, the plan is a little cremation niche next to her with just a simple plaque with my year of birth, year of death.Well, I would like to be buried next to the great Ty Cobb at Rose Hill cemetery in Royston, Georgia. I feel such an affinity for him. We are both native Georgians. I am a diehard baseball fan, and Cobb is my favorite. I know, he was a true hellion, and some would say, not a very nice person, but he had so many deep issues. He was a a complicated and troubled man all his life. I just really connect with him somehow. This was another great video! Oh, I haven’t visited, but here is a pic of Cobb’s grave: www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x88f627b13e54212f:0x98c73b0a39edfc2c!3m1!7e115!4slh5.googleusercontent.com/p/AF1QipNnW_Ee17LUhLvCSW5GwWpWvSiYl4Kdq58K7auK%3Dw240-h320-k-no!5sTy+Cobb%27s+grave+-+Google+Search&imagekey=!1e10!2sAF1QipNnW_Ee17LUhLvCSW5GwWpWvSiYl4Kdq58K7auK&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwidzu3-vZzlAhVEvlkKHYXXA_UQoiowAXoECAsQCg#
I would have to say Cameron Mitchell because he was the first American I ever met when I was a kid and he visited my home town in South Africa. As much as there are hundreds of wonderful celebrities I met Cameron so I feel like I I knew him personally and actually got a hug from him.
Good video, there are two reasons for the delay in laying a headstone, first you are correct the ground has to settle, there is a huge soil displacement and depending on the climate it can take weeks or months for the soil to pack. If you do it too soon the monument will sink. Most cities and counties have ordinances dictating how long you have to wait. And the cemetery groundskeepers who know the soil sometimes wait longer. Second, even when it is time to set the stone there are permits that have to be obtained. I don't know California law but here in VA those are strict. In olden days you just dug a little hole and planted the stone- which is why many tombstones topple in older graveyards. But now the stones have a foundation which is several feet below the surface. In order to lay it you have to dig down several feet, almost to the casket/vault. Legally that is called "disturbing a grave" which requires a permit.
I said that too of course my mom passed first, my father passed this year so they are beside each other, I'd want be next to my daddy. Or at his feet..either beside my daddy or at his feet. I was a daddy's girl. I love both my parents. But it be by my sweet father mom has somebody beside her..n.a.jj.
My Dad Passed February 27th 2018 from Lung Cancer/COPD and was Cremated then Buried in btween his Mo and Dad in The Little Cemetery in Seminole Oklahoma :(
@@TheGraveyardChannel Thanks for going to her grave, I do remember watching your video about that once before, but you just prompted me to go watch it again. I really enjoy your channel .
Concrete foundations have to be laid for a unseen base before the headstone is placed. Not only does it take time to cure, it takes time to actually make the headstone

Valerie Harper has a great spot. She picked it out herself. RIP 💐
Oh, I haven’t visited, but here is a pic of Cobb’s grave:

so nice to hear about your mom. and it sounds like ty's grave should be on your bucket list. very nice. thanks, LO!
I would have to say Cameron Mitchell because he was the first American I ever met when I was a kid and he visited my home town in South Africa. As much as there are hundreds of wonderful celebrities I met Cameron so I feel like I I knew him personally and actually got a hug from him.
Im glad to know that is actually Valerie's grave😙😚
Legally that is called "disturbing a grave" which requires a permit.
i had no idea. thanks for sharing this with us, david! i always learn something new here.

Donna Summer , she had such a strong voice and her music was everywhere when I was growing up.
i visited her grave this summer. if you search my channel you can watch it. thanks, DH!
@@TheGraveyardChannel Thanks for going to her grave, I do remember watching your video about that once before, but you just prompted me to go watch it again. I really enjoy your channel .
Concrete foundations have to be laid for a unseen base before the headstone is placed. Not only does it take time to cure, it takes time to actually make the headstone
thanks, colleen!
