Amanda Song 😂 Koreans are the people who have walked in painful history. But what is important is that it is a people who resist the aggression of foreign countries and resist to the end. Please know that Koreans are so caring and nurturing.
Amanda Dear, I wish I had had somebody to experience “Mr Sunshine” with. It was certainly heart wrenching at the end and I was devastated! It was one of the most beautifully hypnotic, mesmerizing dramas I have ever seen. It was an unforgettable Masterpiece. The entire production, cinematography, script, direction, costumes. Gorgeous songs, great performances, unforgettable,characters......perfect just flawless! Eugene Choi, Dong Mae, those performance s were just flawless. Unforgettable......

Hi Serena, Thank you for watching and sharing this kind comment. I enjoyed learning more about Korea's history so I wanted to share some of that with the rest of the world. Thank you :)
"Maybe, reality was more terrifying than this drama." Forgotten history repeats again. So, we have to never forget our history, especially the tragic memories!!
I agree with you, I also think many of us in the West do not know the full significance of the Rising Sun Flag and the criminality of it. I liked that Mr. Sunshine drama emphasized the flag whenever they showed the Japanese army as a villain, so that we could make the connection.
Thank you for your interest in Korean dramas. Japan is still not seeking forgiveness, despite the fact that it was the same thing as the Nazis of Germany. Japan was the nachi of Asia. Japan uses war criminals like Hakenkreuz.(Rising sun flag) Europeans don't know that war criminals are like Hakenkreuz. Asian people are bad Hakenkreuz. I know that. If you wear clothing or shoes that look like war criminals in South Korea, you can die. It's no different than Asians wearing Hakenkreuz in Europe. Unlike Germany, Japan has yet to admit its mistakes and is even teaching history education.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing an honest and genuine reaction to this show. Moreover, thank you for mentioning a bit if the historical fact about McKenzie and the Righteous Army as well. This show means more than just a well-made drama to Koreans. I am a Korean American currently living in the US, and I watched this on Netflix since it first got uploaded there with my family. At first, I thought it would just be a fun fictional history drama. Then, even before getting through the half of the show, I realized that this show was to portray the life of people during that time as real as possible. It was cute and funny to see the five main characters’ relationship with each other; very touching and inspiring to see how the people including the main characters decided to save their country from being invaded; and so sad to see and feel the pain the characters had to go through, which made me think of the ancestors that actually lived and died during that period. Ugh, I’m getting emotional, which means I’d better stop here. lol. Anyways, I really enjoyed this video. Thanks again for sharing!! (ps. I hope my comment doesn’t bore you or annoy you.)
I loved this kdrama, finished it after 6 months, so much in pain especially the last episode. My own grandpa was a freedom fighter who took part in freedom struggle of "Quit British India Movement" and "Non-Cooperation Movement", he had to drop out of school in order to continue to be the part of resistance group against Britisher's, used to stay hidden in the mountains of Gaaro-Khasi hills in North East India to see India as a free country. Was newly married to my grandmother but was not able to spent sweet moments because they always lived in a fear of getting caught, his best friend was being shot before his own eyes by the British Army and he too was taken into custody by them and was tortured, during winters. This drama hits home, I did see my grandpa but didn't get much time to spend with him was he died in 2003, 16th January, with pride and honour. His last words were, "I will die as an Indian in a free nation". This drama, makes me realise that our ancestors fought for us with their sweat and blood so we can live happily in a free nation. I am a proud Indian in a free nation, thanks to our forgotten heroes and I am happy for the Koreans too who are able to live in a happy and a free country, without any fear.
@@kdramacouple thank you so much. I still remember him but not clearly enough. He was not like a typical grandpa. He was very strict and disciplined. He always used to wear white Indian clothes and all of us were scared of him. Even the whole people of the town were scared of him. He had short temper and a very strong personality. We actually belong from the family of landlords, noble family and so, whenever, I saw Go Ae Shin in screen her stubborn attitude, I thought of my grandpa.
Japan must sincerely apologize for the fact that it has committed all sorts of atrocities by trampling on human dignity, but I believe that we can move on to a better country in the international community. It is great courage to recognize your fault, and I think it is something that can only come out of a great consciousness. Japan will be a paragon for this next generation of Japanese people if they are genuinely repentant of history mistakes, beg forgiveness, and be forgiven. Through such courageous actions, this history should not be repeated. Looking at Amanda's reaction, I was able to confirm again that everyone who lives in conscience feels the same emotion and pain. Thank you.
Hi Sunkyung, thank you for sharing your thoughtful comment. I agree and really hope Japan can finally apologize for their crimes against Korea. Thanks for watching! Stay strong .
+Amanda Song That's not going to happen based on the japanese identitis. Anyway the reason why japan was able to occupy korea is with the support of america and england, which is quite different from the present and this tv drama.
@@tamurasola of course there was no official apology from Japan coz as far as they concerned they've lost war to America not to Korea or China. Only China and two Koreas protested against to Japan but rest of asia did not as they're willing to forgive Japan for nothing.

I'm a 55 years old male . I still vividly remember a memory of an extremely dirty and insanity homeless woman looked like almost 50 years old who has appeared to me and people of my village when I was around 6 years old... Elder people in my village said she was a comfort woman(sexual slave) for Japanese military during in the pacific war and she has got mentally ill due to psychological traumas from her horrible experiences. Maybe because of that, she was constantly hurling cuss words at Japanese. Actually, I didn't fully understand what happened to that poor woman but I dimly realized that she had experienced something very miserable. At that time, there was not enough social care system for those kinds of pathetic people in Korea. So, all the people in my village even 6 years old boy took care of her together for a while until she was suddenly disappeared from our village oneday. Now, I know what happened to her and my heart is much more painful for her than when I was 6 years old. Japanese colonial era is not only history in the book but it is still stigmatic and very painful memories to Korean people.
In all the films and series I had ever watched in my life time, THE CROW was always my heart.. I just discovered *Mr. Sunshine* Yesterday, began the first epi in the afternoon and skipped my sleep all the way until this afternoon.. It's 10:09 pm Hawaii time as I comment... and I am still shook, and still tear every now and then all because, Mr. Sunshine died, and all those beautiful people who had walked through the battles with and for Ae-shin and the people of Joseon. The entire plot and story killed me every episode that played, every character was carefully conducted. I've never been so affected by such a well crafted story of a split fiction and non fiction in my entire life since *The crow.* My eyes had never welled up for a beautiful a and heartbreaking series such as *Mr. Sunshine.* And OMG I have fallen in love with Eugene. I cant even explain what this film does to me now. *FUCKING HEARTFELT. BEST KOREAN DRAMA* I had ever seen to date. KOREA will always reign the best country in drama films/series in the history of film making. America cant even fallow, and I sincerely say that as an American.
@@kdramacouple lol. It's kind of funny how I came about it. My mother and I are huge Korean drama fans. My top three faves are, *FATED TO LOVE YOU, MOON EMBRACING THE SUN, & BOYS OVER FLOWERS. But I fave so many others, I just chose those three as my top. I had the day off the last two days, had all my arends and chores done. And it was my down time and I was grazing through Netflix. There were a few times I passed by *MR. SUNSHINE* before a while back, last week I passed by it again, but for some odd reason something told me to pick it two days ago and just give the first episode a try. Yup... and the first epi I already feel in love with Eugene, lol. But then I was so not prepared for the story, and then the last epi happends and I got stuck with my emotions. I try not to pick KDramas in my work days because I'll only stay up late watching an entire series. So I'll only watch them on my days off if I have no plans and no priorities for the day. But when the show is that good, I go to work the next day lingering about it 😫😭. If you plan on watching *THE CROW,* just be aware of the heavy violence. But I guarantee that film will become your new sweetheart... #RIPBrandonLee And I am being so honest... *THE CROW* film and comic book and the author of the story is my heart. And then *MR. SUNSHINE* happened, this is 21 years later since a film had ever clutched my heart. I never thought there'd be a second for me.

This was the strongest love story and sacrifice beyond themselves. I cried in silence for all the emotional pain each one was suffering. Is an epic big tale of light and shadows, pain and joy.
I came across this drama by chance and I am so glad I decided to watch it. It made me angry at the brutality and unfairness of the Japanese to take over Korea. Japan still says the Koreans wanted protection from them. NOT!! What a beautiful drama this is. I also love the scenery and the korean dresses. I see why korean dramas are so popular. I am hooked!
I've been watching Korean dramas for some time now, like innocent man, man to man, and Iris, to name a few. But I must say after watching mr. Sunshine it is by far the best one I've seen to date, and gives me a more deeper respect for the Korean people...
Hi, Shorn, that's the best possible outcome! I'm so glad you took the time to watch this show, and other K dramas. Although the ending was sad, it makes me glad to know you gained a deeper respect for Korean people! Thanks for watching :)
It is sad that this drama is real history. And the Japanese government and right-wing groups, which still do not apologize for what they did and mock and insult the victim, hope to be judged by God.
well, they are not only insulting order nation, they do it to their woman too..here in Malaysia, there were graves of Japan womans that was trick to have a job in Imperial Office during WW2 in Malaya, when they were force to be the comfort women for their soldier..when they passed away, they were buried with their back facing Japan,to show that they were betrayed by their own country n not acknowledge Japan as their country..
This drama is the best drama I have watched in my life. And thank you for being interested in Korea history as a foreigner. Hope there are more foreigners will be interested in what happened before between Korea, Japan and China by this drama...
I wish I could have watched it with you- I was all alone when I watched the finale and I could not help but cry. I started to tear up again just seeing the finale clip on your video! I hope this comes out on dvd so I can buy it. This was such an incredible drama. I can't rave about it enough. Romance-drama-action-history...it had everything. Such a sad story but one that should be told. Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful job!!! I cried several times for being a very well-made and beautiful story. Really a kdrama that can't be missed. It was really breathtaking. This one is definitely a MUST watch. One word to describe everything about this kdrama is badass💯 Its like sitting down for 4-courses meal but receiving 10-courses that were delicious and satisfying far beyond expectations. One of the most kdrama i've seen. This kdrama left the pains in my chest. Im in love with the storyline, the actors, chemistry, realistic, emotions, beautiful setting, ost... I can feel the pains by their teary eyes and movements. This is masterpiece. Finally all i can say is WOW. Im hooked!!! Thanks to all those who in one way or another achieved something so beautiful. Kdrama to the new level. Highly recommended!!!! 100/10 Bravo Koreans👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 With love and respect from Vietnam
I am totally speechless. So captivating and impressive. Actually, since Mr. Sunshine, I've bought Korean books not only to get a glimpse of its history but to learn and understand its people.Kudos to all Mr. Sunshine teams and everyone who made this series possible . Thank you so much. I am hoping they would launched a book of the series Mr. Sunshine in the near future. ❤
I think Mr. Sunshine is my first sad ending love story. I love this story line, especially this historical story with a lot of value inside. Thank you for this review, that's new insight for me! I hope there are more valuable hostorical drama again, so that you can review it again 😁
I said this before and I'll say it again. Not ashamed to admit as a guy, I cried my eyes out on episodes 23 and 24. I felt as though I lost someone really close. It's just such a sad ending and what hurts is that the real history behind this drama. Joseon was never won over and Japan took over Asia essentially. Thus this meant that many deaths were in vain and even the efforts of Ae Sin would've been for nothing. Of course the US and Allied powers would allow Korea their liberation, but still hurts to know.
The emotions of modern Korean people are still connected with that era. Because Korean tragedy did not end in that drama. Although it was a colony of Japan, the Korean Peninsula was a unified country. After World War II, Japan retreated from the Korean Peninsula, but in a country that lost its king, capitalists, communists, democrats, socialists, pro-Japaneses, pro-Americans, and pro-Soviet groups were entangled, splitting the country in half in two years, killing and killing each other. War is coming. The tragedy is currently ongoing.
I actually haven't move on. I just can't. Eugene's death scene really kills me. People don't get why there's no way out. Why he stayed at the carriage with the japanese soldiers. I get why. He has a hostage. He knows how determine the japanese soldiers are. He knows once he let go of the hostage, the soldiers will fight back. The only way was to hold on to the hostage until Ae Shin's carriage got away. It sucks but it make sense. It doesn't mean I like it but it make me love the whole drama even more.
as i was watching this drama, i kept telling my husband. Aesin wont have happy ending because i know what happened to Koreans around that time. so.. yeah.. but it was still very sad.
I wasnt the only one had tears strolling down my cheek when Eugene Choi sacrificed his life to save her and so that the righteous army could survive. When she was learning the words "Sad Ending" at the English school, i knew it was going to have a sad ending. That was a forestell.
Not as a korean, as a human being, i feel deeply sad and anger in my mind. Hope no more wars in this world anymore. Forget the past history , theres no further. Thax for sharing this emotion..
History of Korea was sad and terrible. we don't have forgot our history. I appreciate your reactions. thank you very much. I subscribe to your youtube and cheer for
It is by far my favorite Kdrama too, other than the production and the amazing cinematography just the way they showed the raw love for their country , the Patriotism and even though Eugene Choi died as an american he still did his best . The ending really broke my heart, I cried the whole night and went to class looking like a Zombie and people kept wondering if someone i knew passed away, I told them yu jin, dong mae, hee sung, Hina and a bunch of the righteous army did. I am glad they ended it this way tho because it seems inappropriate for it to end all happy and joyful considering the suffering and pain people lived at that time. Loved the video, I'm subscribing can't wait for more great reactions ^-^
I am very grateful that you've been interested in our country's history and that we shared the same emotions while watching the drama. Love from Seoul. :-)
Hi Juua, thank you for you sweet comment, it a good to hear that. I'm glad we could share this special show and I could learn about the history. Hope you can come back and enjoy more videos!
I have been waiting for your reaction vedio and now have watched it! Yesterday, while watching the final 2 episodes in a row I was countinously crying. Koreans who watched this drama feel really sad and frustrated about what happened inside Mr Sunshine because we know it is not a fiction but what really happened to this country and people. What we saw through this drama is just a start of what Japanese did to Joseon(Korea) for 35 years and there were a lot more cruel torture, oppression, and massacre from 1910 to 1945. When Eugene Choi decided to sacrifice himself to save Aeshin and Joseon in the train, I was sobbing like crazy. In this drama Go Aesin is a righteous soldier at the same time means "Joseon" as it is. So it was quite predictable all the others - Eugene, Dongmae, Heesung, Hina would end up dying and Aesin was the only survivor since she is Joseon. Japanese government have never admitted what they commited to Korea and still they're denying it. They don't teach the nation the right history and the truth, which is real tragedy. Thanks for sharing your review and I've enjoyed it!
Hi Krystal, thank you so much for your comment! I agree with you, Go Ae-sin represents the spirit of Joseon. She can't die. I wish I could have said more informative, history like you shared but I was too emotional from watching the final episode haha. I will try to share more real history in the future. But this is very important to me. Thanks so much, I always like to learn something new about Korean history.
Yeah predicted the ending by spoilers all over but when witnessed how the end of the characters esp the three men, couldnt bear the tears in the eyes...
I am a man over 50 years old; yet, this drama made me tear all through those episodes. It reminds me how much I am a Korean, feeling how much I become sympathetic with those who fought in that horrible and sad time of Korean history.
Oh, you are so lovely and beautiful while you feel the sadness when you were watching the final scene of Eugene Choi. Yes, He dies at that moment. there was no escape, Vala Mogulis. It made many many korean audience sad, too. In fact, many people expected that, she would die and he would survive, and holding the memory of her, keep fighting against Japanese. The Actual historical figure of the model of Eugene Choi, survived later than 2nd world war, retired honorably. (Eugene Choi is based on Ki-Hwan Hwang, served in the 1st world war as an US army officer, later, joined to the Korean temporary government in China, in 1920's and 1930's) however, the actual historical figure of Aeshin Ko died during her fight. (It is said that, Aeshin Ko is based on a few of actual figures, Ja-Hyun Nam, Hee-Soon Yoon, and etc...)
I think Mr Sunshine was the best love story I've seen. Very captivating without showing skin or sex scenes. The cinematography was incredible. I wish South African producers and actors would watch and realise that it doesn't always have to be about sex. Eugene Xhoi & Ae Shin characters were so believable, great chemistry. They should do another 😁
Thank you for your kindness and thoughtful reactions. I am really glad that I found this video. I hope everyone who is watching 'Mr. Sunshine' is not only seeking the entertainment but also learning the real facts what the Japanese government did to Koreans.
@@fayenicolem.lacson8365 It is foolish to hate the entire race or people based on their past. If you are going to hate them, mind as well hate the Joseon government who failed to protect and ultimately sold our country to Japan.
Seong ju / Joseon failed to protect their people didn't mean brutal and cruel treatment by Japanese which was indescribable and beyond imagination. Japanese government still haven't apologised yet and they may come to Korea with rising sun flag for ceremony that equals German Nazi flag. They have no idea what they did in the past and recent Japanese election, Abe won third term. Japanese people again voted for PM who refused to apologize and pay respect to war criminals.
@@meadow_spring7112 Is it really Japanese fault for their censorship on history? How is hating them going to solve anything? Koreans should learn from this painful history and never allow it to happen again. Constant demand for appology is a sign of weakness. It should be the Korean government and the king who should kneel down and beg forgiveness to the Korean people. (Tho the king no longer exist and the current government is doing very well strengthening Korea's defense and diplomacy)
Seong ju / Yes I think it was Japanese government's fault. Throughout Korean history Japan invaded and attacked Korea several hundred times. To me Japanese haven't learnt anything from their history. what they are doing now is teaching wrong history to their children. deny and hide their brutal history and hurting and insulting their victims without apology and outrageous and insensitive behaviour. And demanding apology is not a sign of weakness, it is very important right of victims to heal and recover from their wounds. You claim you are Korean, reply in Korean then I will reply back to you in Korean. I think hardly any Koreans would say what you have said.
We were given a heads up..sad ending..it truly was! I guess Aesin was the only one who survived as a symbol of their Motherland. Love,Hope Bravery. I’m not Korean but this is a very good show and everyone in it was so good to their craft. Thank you Mr. Sunshine! 🌞 ☀️
From kings to slaves in Korea, young women of nobles, Koreans of different nationalities who left with hatred of Korea. All of them were medics. The characters featured here are motivated by real characters ~~ Yujinchoi and Heesung have similar characters Of course, I did a lot of adaptation. Heesung's character is actually a real person who pretended to have a gambling debt and provided the independence funds of the medical soldiers ~~^^
I’m new to Kdramas but I love the Korean ppl and culture. And Mr. Sunshine is awesome. So many of these dramas are heart wrenching...Bridal Mask is another Kdrama that deals with Japanese occupation. Also good.
@@irishgrl It is a beautiful country with many historical places. the air quality is getting bad these days so maybe you can wait till it gets cleared!
Mr Sunshine - a true masterpiece. Stunning in all aspects...choice of cast, script, cinematography, costumes and props... Brilliant directing. Unrivalled by any kdramas past, present and future. Kudos to everyone involved in the drama. Kudos to all the hauntingly beautiful OSTs. The songs are soul-moving. To be remembered. Always. My heart goes out to Eugene Choi, Go Ae Sin, Gu Dong Mae, Hee Sung and Hina Kudo. Each tied to the other, the love that was not meant to be. Poor Dong Mae and his aching futile love for Ae Sin. Poor Hee Sung. Poor Hina. Poor Choi Yoo Jin. All love deprived. All hungered For affection. Love indeed came their way but fleeting. Superb acting too by the others. Congrats Mr. Sunshine. You're simply the best! I truly hope that this drama is recognised for what it is worth and garner awards that it really deserves. The 2018 Korean Drama Awards was shockingly disappointing for its treatment of Mr Sunshine. Shame on you! The independence we savour now should not be taken for granted.
Most of Japanese still denies the war atrocities and follows the colonialism/imperialism theory. They claim that their colonization modernized Korean society, which is a massive insult and shock to Koreans. It's not difficult to see them justifying their ancestors' deed or being ignorant about what happened in the past.
If we think about current Nations hatred of each we think India Vs. Pakistan or even Israel vs. Palestine because these get global publicity but in the Asian continent there is still simmering anger about Koreans and Chinese against the Japanese. The whole Korea problem right now is all because of the Japanese, Japan at it worst phase single handedly destroyed the sub continent not to mention committed the worst war crimes. But to ask for apology seems never going to happen because who is going to apologize to whom and for what, the real problem is that they deny it ever happened. Japanese are strange if you visit the country they are very polite almost too polite it is unsettling they don't like to confront the past. I you visit the Hiroshima Atom bomb site the memorial blames the Americans for everything that went wrong and doesn't accept that there was fault on both sides, they don't mention Pearl Harbour or admit to any fault in WW2.
More exactly, Koreans hate (if you want to use this word) what Japanese people did to so many innocent people. Their cruelty was beyond description. They were not human. Still, I'm chilled to the bone by the thought that their ancestors' cruel blood is still flowing in their bodies.
Loved the entire show. Riviting, emotional and full of history we should know but do not about Korea. I wished that it had ended differently and that our five heroes made it out alive... but that was not to be... only Ae Sin makes it to continue the fight... one that was doomed. What great spirit the Korean people have. They deserved much better from the US and the world than they got.
HI Careen, thanks for your comment, I couldn't agree more with you. I'm glad you enjoyed the show and also hoped that the 5 heroes had a happier ending ... but it's more memorable this way I think. Thanks for watching and have a great day💛
Thanks for your mentioning about the F.A Mckenzie. As Japanese colonial 36years was too long and the camera was rare, the righteous army picture is only still one remained picture to prove the army’s existence. Even so long time, we have considered that the black jacket is not the military uniform but school uniform.
this is the best historical, romance drama that i watched so far *all the production crew so great to represented all the character, especially the side char that have a little but great story in them too, it make me cry a lot, beside the main story. *this drama got me with so nice and great flow of story, thats make me want to know the true story in goggle (general term) * the nation will always have the dark side especially in the war situation. especially the nation that being colonized. * and i hope my nation someday can have the series drama history based like this, to remember that we now is lucky and have the peaceful day now is based on all the heroes that draw all their blood to get us the freedom, and can ignite the spirit of nationality.
Mr Sunshine is so good on so many levels. its one of the few tv shows from any country whose cinematography is art film grade. The writing and acting are stellar. The growing weight of sorrow over the flow of historical events also gives this show unusual heft. Finally, it just overflows with quality that its worth watching.
this was also the best korean series i've ever seen so far. Such an amazing story was executed so beautifully.though i know as per history of the sad ending, i was still hopefull of a happier ending but they couldn't have ended it more perfectly than eugene dying. It amazed me that koreans are able to make the most romantic masterpiece without any kissing scene, something i don't see in american series.
Koreans are smart , they know that the story itself is amazing and would attract a lot of people all over the world plus the cinematography, the artists who PERFORMED beyond expectation , the musical score, it makes it unnecessary to have kissing scene, the hugging means a lot. Majority of viewers looks for a moral lesson, how the actors & actresses portray their role & the story itself.
I perfectly agree with you. eventhough after months, I still love this drama. Japan did the same thing to us here in Indonesia, but the government hide the facts from their citizens, Japan should apologized to Indonesia, Korea, Malay, etc
Girl I feel your pain lol I cried so much at this finale. I was expecting some deaths but I couldn't believe no one got a somewhat happy ending. 😭😭 it was too much.
Same! I expected some to die but I didn't think the main characters would all have a sad ending. I guess it reflects the feeling of Koreans at the time.
It was so fun learning that the journalist on the drama is a real person. 😲😲😲 i probably wouldnt know that if i didnt watch this video. Thanks for the fun fact! I've finished this drama a few days ago and i can say the last 4 episodes are so heavy. I'm so affected on all those who died on the drama (except for the evil ones haha) i dont know why. I guess i got too attached on the characters. Everyone was so good at portraying their characters. I love watching period/history korean dramas cause i get to see and learn what it's like before even though some stories are fiction. This is probably one of the best and intense period dramas that i have watched. 😁
Hi, Thank you for your lovely comment! I'm glad I could help you learn about the real history haha. I was also sooo sad watching the last 3-4 episodes. Let's hope there will be another great drama to look forward to
Here’s my more romantic interpretation of the 3 male leads: Eugene’s Korean name 宥镇 means one who withdraws wrath and garrisons. He is the *Sunshine. Dong Mae’s name 冬梅 is winter plum blossom so he is the *Snow. Hee Sung’s name 熙星 means brilliant star so he is the *Star. Together they make up Ae-Shin’s *SKY (also letter S). Even if there is a *black bird in Ae-Shin’s sky, she has these 3 men in her life protecting her and shining for her in her world. I feel sad for Hina. She wants to become the wind, free. She’s been helping people behind the scene, not visible but what a difference she made! They each represents the people who helped defend Joseon. A very impactful drama. We all should be grateful for what we have.
I just finished watching all episode.I had the same reaction as you.Its an unexpected ending I like any other drama. It makes your heart feel heavy to see the death of the people in the drama
after this series, I came to love Korea a lot! great end ... I hoped that each one had a happy ending, but it was not as I imagined ... missing you already!
Thanks for giving it a chance, especially since you didn't know Korean culture :) This story is very special to Koreans because it outlines that dark history. Nice to meet you, Eliziane from Brazil! I'm from Connecticut, USA :)
RUclips suggested your video while watching other Mr. Sunshine related videos. Thank you for your sharing your thoughts and feeling about the period of Chosun’s Japanese Colonization. Even though I am working in U.S. and surrounded majority of American people, Mr. Sunshine reminded what my real root is. I am not sure if you noticed during episodes, people who resists are Chosun, Korean people; whereas, people who make Chosun in Jeopardy are also Korean people... Sad, but true these days, too.
Thanks for giving me a chance and watching my video! I know just a little bit about this but I'm always eager to learn more. Someone told me that the descendants of the five traitors of 1905 are still living well today. That must be quite uncomfortable for Koreans to know
You're right, not just 을사오적 (Five Traitors), 정미 칠적(Seven Traitors) are representing group of traitors; however, there are many "Japanophile"s' descendants living in Korea, taking advantages in Korean Economy, Politics and in many field these days. 'History Repeats' is so true. Now it's not a 'Japanophile', but manipulating System to take best benefits for their own prosperity...
come to here finally ! Oh Yes , the ending was sad but make sense absolutely ! keep the story theme as a whole !!! This drama no need to sell kiss sense, no need to made it happy ending but still attractive ! I admire the scriptwriter ms Kim her script and I admire all the actors, not only the 5 leads are amazing but also other supporting actors , the whole team, they gave us a good show !!!
I don't hate Japanese people, even this drama make me sad and down... but I feel upset about Japan's politicians who are still using Korea's situation for their purpose, hate for Korea being popular, being united nation and being loud about women in sex slaves... and some Japanese ppl politically saying like their politicians 'we paid money already, so... that's enough... no more sorry for it... and if Korea will be helpful in case they comflict each other, we will get benefits from it economically, politically, militarily...' actually they said 'Heaven helps Japan' when the Korea war broke... they actually earned a lot from it... and still Japanese regime has hardly changed after that tradegy, Japanese ppl are so shy to speak up to change this. We feel sorry for that...
Such a powerful drama, it portrays the spirit of Korean, people to fight overwhelming odds, but it also made me think about the power of the human spirit to rise up and overcome tyrany, even in the face of great fear, love moves us to strive to be more than be opressed by our circumstances.
I was just like you when Eugene Choi was dying. Mr. Sunshine was gun, glory, and sad ending. But it was not only a sad ending because by their sacrifices, i can live my life in freedom right now. I really appreciate your reaction. Thanks.
Hi Ellie, I appreciate you watching it and sharing the experience with me. It was too sad watching Eugene Choi die. But I think the message is so important, like you said, it's the sacrifice for a greater cause, so that future generations of Koreans can live free. Thank you dear. Stay strong!

This was one of the best dramas I've ever seen! I felt the same way as you all the way thru it!
I am a proud Indian in a free nation, thanks to our forgotten heroes and I am happy for the Koreans too who are able to live in a happy and a free country, without any fear.
that's an incredible story. Your grandfather is a hero! Thanks for sharing that.

Japan must sincerely apologize for the fact that it has committed all sorts of atrocities by trampling on human dignity, but I believe that we can move on to a better country in the international community. It is great courage to recognize your fault, and I think it is something that can only come out of a great consciousness.

This was the strongest love story and sacrifice beyond themselves. I cried in silence for all the emotional pain each one was suffering. Is an epic big tale of light and shadows, pain and joy.
엔딩때 어머니도 울고, 나도 울었다.. 역사를 모르는 일본은 여전히 아직도 거짓을 고한다..
Thanks for watching :)
the japanese have denied a lot of massacres and their historical things unlike Germany..
Sadly, reality was more brutal than drama.

I hope this comes out on dvd so I can buy it. This was such an incredible drama. I can't rave about it enough. Romance-drama-action-history...it had everything. Such a sad story but one that should be told. Thanks for sharing.
I hope this video will be known a lot.

Totally! I am glad that you also liked the show~
@@kdramacouple ,thank you. OMG,am getting emotional again coz I felt the same, watching the Finale 😭 Hoping more reactions uploads from you. Kudos! 😊
I think Mr. Sunshine is my first sad ending love story. I love this story line, especially this historical story with a lot of value inside.
Thank you for this review, that's new insight for me! I hope there are more valuable hostorical drama again, so that you can review it again 😁
I am crying...very sad ending...😭😭
Amanda...thank you for sharing..
I cried so much watching this drama. My eyes r so puffy and I hope they make more dramas like this.
I cried my eyes out!!! Such a sad ending. Korean people had endured a lot. Thanks God for the USA who came to rescue South Korea. It’s the fact!
Thanks for your comment. It was very sad and I also felt like I was losing someone special to me. It's a very sad time period
You are wrong , many death were not vain , that sacrifice made korean got strong .
I didn't watch him die even though i knew he would!!!!!
i watch through 14 epi,up till now, still couldn't continue knowing the sad ending.
as i was watching this drama, i kept telling my husband. Aesin wont have happy ending because i know what happened to Koreans around that time. so.. yeah.. but it was still very sad.
Exactly true
I wasnt the only one had tears strolling down my cheek when Eugene Choi sacrificed his life to save her and so that the righteous army could survive. When she was learning the words "Sad Ending" at the English school, i knew it was going to have a sad ending. That was a forestell.
I agree Mr. Sunshine is by far the best Korean drama at least for my opinion. The production was just perfect from actors to directors.
I cried SO much. I don't know if my heart can handle watching it again
Not as a korean, as a human being, i feel deeply sad and anger in my mind. Hope no more wars in this world anymore. Forget the past history , theres no further.
Thax for sharing this emotion..
I absolutely love Mr. Sunshine. I hate that the series has ended. I have no more tears.
Even tho it is sad ending but it is a hopeful one which we know what happen today... But my heart ache for it all happen in one episode...
Thank you so much for watching. I loved the show so much and learned so much about Korea.
(Eugene Choi is based on Ki-Hwan Hwang, served in the 1st world war as an US army officer, later, joined to the Korean temporary government in China, in 1920's and 1930's)
however, the actual historical figure of Aeshin Ko died during her fight.

@@fayenicolem.lacson8365
It is foolish to hate the entire race or people based on their past.
@@meadow_spring7112
Is it really Japanese fault for their censorship on history?
Sunshine! 🌞 ☀️
Sadly, reality was more brutal than drama.
From kings to slaves in Korea, young women of nobles, Koreans of different nationalities who left with hatred of Korea.
All of them were medics.
The characters featured here are motivated by real characters ~~
Yujinchoi and Heesung have similar characters
Of course, I did a lot of adaptation.
Heesung's character is actually a real person who pretended to have a gambling debt and provided the independence funds of the medical soldiers ~~^^

Hello, I am Korean! I hope our painful history of Korea will be known all over the world. Thank you for feeling pain and sympathizing with us.
It was an amazing show... Painfully but hopefully, I loved the show.
I’m new to Kdramas but I love the Korean ppl and culture. And Mr. Sunshine is awesome. So many of these dramas are heart wrenching...Bridal Mask is another Kdrama that deals with Japanese occupation. Also good.
Oh wow, you also watched Bridal Mask? you seem to like Korean history.
Ph.D Life with Gyuho yes, I so wish I could afford to visit...
Actually, I thought Korean people still hate Japanese. I'm learned many things about Korea history.
I feel sorry for their misfortune.
Because they didnt apologize at all. I feel sorry for your ignorance. :(
Most of Japanese still denies the war atrocities and follows the colonialism/imperialism theory.
Even so long time, we have considered that the black jacket is not the military uniform but school uniform.
this is the best historical, romance drama that i watched so far
*all the production crew so great to represented all the character, especially the side char that have a little but great story in them too, it make me cry a lot, beside the main story.
*this drama got me with so nice and great flow of story, thats make me want to know the true story in goggle (general term)
* the nation will always have the dark side especially in the war situation. especially the nation that being colonized.
* and i hope my nation someday can have the series drama history based like this, to remember that we now is lucky and have the peaceful day now is based on all the heroes that draw all their blood to get us the freedom, and can ignite the spirit of nationality.
This K drama was AMAZING 😭😭😭! The history background was good but im was hooked bc of the acting which was 💯
Mr Sunshine is so good on so many levels. its one of the few tv shows from any country whose cinematography is art film grade. The writing and acting are stellar. The growing weight of sorrow over the flow of historical events also gives this show unusual heft. Finally, it just overflows with quality that its worth watching.
I couldn't agree more, Dave! Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed watching Mr. Sunshine as much as I did :)
Beautiful drama, but heart broken, it make me sad, anybody got a happy ending💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭
this was also the best korean series i've ever seen so far.
I agree about the romance without any kissing haha
Let's hope there will be another great drama to look forward to
Yes his pictures got out.
Here’s my more romantic interpretation of the 3 male leads:
Eugene’s Korean name 宥镇 means one who withdraws wrath and garrisons.

@@TheDavid0807 That makes me upset and I'm not even Korean. I really hope Korea can have justice after all of this...

We feel sorry for that...
no matter how much money they pay, even if they give all their money to the victim,it still nothing to compare the pain those victim have to endured.
Such a powerful drama, it portrays the spirit of Korean, people to fight overwhelming odds, but it also made me think about the power of the human spirit to rise up and overcome tyrany, even in the face of great fear, love moves us to strive to be more than be opressed by our circumstances.
I really appreciate your interest about Korean history and Korean culture. Thank you, I was nice drama.
