Lots of good advice and tips.
Favorite quote: "At the end of the day it really is just about the final photo and not the method you use to capture it."
That says so much. You nailed it.
Keep up the awesome work!
I love how you made the video about how you got better or how you rediscovered fun in streetphotography. If the video were titled "How I got good at streetphotography" I wouldn't have clicked on it. That just sets up the ego of the guy who made the video, and in most cases means the photography isn't that good anyway. Loved the content, will definetely get back to your channel!
Thanks for checking the video out! Always a goal of mine to stay grounded and let others judge my work for what it is.
More videos please. Amazing.
Thank you!
awesome cinematics!! also love the content and the samuel L streetlife cameo at the end 💯💯👌👌
Oneseno thanks for watching till the end 😉😉
breds on the yellow ground got me feeling like it's 2015 again and the #minimalmovement vibe in full effect
I found your channel. I first watched your video on the Ricoh GR channel and you were kind enough to respond to my question. I’m glad I’m a subscriber and ready to learn fro you. Thanks Ivan!
James Amoh thanks for the support man! Appreciate it 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Your videos are so well made! The audio is crisp and the visuals flow together well. I totally agree with your point of learning one camera to the point that it feels like second nature to use. This is why I believe that ergnomics are so important in camera design. Keep up the great work Ivan!
Will do man, thank you!
dude I love the little scene where the camera goes boom boom like gun. Great video!
Thanks man!
Dude that is some next level B-roll, you basically made a short film. Awesome.
Good work
Listen, pay attention, observe. Things I never thought of before but will absolutely make the difference in your photography. Removing your earpods will also help you avoid walking under a bus (absolutely amazed at how many people cross the street in a daze).
Norman Kleinberg valid point, was always taught to look both ways and listen when crossing the streets 😂 how things have changed...
I like your style direction when it comes to video content dealing with photography. It's about individual growth, you show how you approach the many nuance of photography, gear, way of shooting, what film you like, what digital you like. A lot of other vloggers emphasize too much on gear and not talk a whole lot about growth and expanding in their creative photogrphy. In other words, they want to show off what latest and greatest gear they have in their hands.
Thanks Eddie! Not the most exciting kind of content but I’m always happy when someone can relate to it 🙏🏻
You do great work, Ivan!
The Liam Gordon thank you!!
🤣🤣I love you little movie. Love when you burn film and when you gun shoot with your Ricoh. Very clever.
Mr Jules Oscar worthy? 😂
@@ivunchow definitely 🤣👍🏻
Spent a healthy amount of time just going down the rabbit hole of your content, love your perspectives. Keep sharing brother ✌🏾
Appreciate the love man, thank you! 🙏🏻
Awesome video. That moment with the confused guy staring at your cam rolling footage. Subtle, perfect grab.
Haha I found it pretty funny too
Thank you very much for this video! Thanks for the feedback about the Ricoh GR! I'm a GR III user myself and I'm a fan! It never leaves my side!
Perfect advice. After shooting street (mostly film) for several years in Seattle, I became so burnt out on it and began leaving downtown looking for other things to photograph. After a few projects, a book, etc., eventually I quit shooting anything other than my personal family moments and travels. It’s been over five years now. I’m newly inspired though and I’m returning to the streets in 2021, GR III in hand. Maybe in a couple of years I’ll put some stuff up online, but for now, I’ll be spending more time shooting and less time managing.
10000horsepower that’s good to hear! Everyone gets burnt out from shooting, maybe more often with street photography cause it can get really unforgiving. Hope the GR serves you well in your new adventures 😎
@@ivunchow Thanks Ivan. The GR arrived - so small! It reminds me of my collection of Olympus XA’s. I’m so looking forward to having such a capable camera with me 24/7. Shooting with a phone doesn’t cut it and all of my other digital cameras, though wonderful, are just too big.
Man I really dig your videos…the vibe and advice you give out is immensely appreciated
Do not stop making them 🙏🏼
Thank you!
Great video as usual, keep it up 👍
Tao Rapeepat Lekkham thank you!
cool video! Good point with listening, it's really important!
malmcowy sure is! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you RUclips algorithm...just discovered your channel. Great video, photos, music...
Carlos Kühn thank you! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Nice theory on how you work. I always have my earphones on to set a vibe and to not be distracted or overthink but I think I'll try this out next time I go out.
Artworks of William Mustafa there’s no wrong way to do it, but I just think it’s easier for me to observe when I really listen to my surroundings. Hope it works for you too 👊🏻👊🏻
Your videos and photographic work are always impeccably great! But this one is an absolute gem!
Being an utterly beginner in street photography I’m always looking for genuine advices and inspirations, thus you really inspire me and this was truly helpful. The tips you gave and how you presented them are sublime. Thank you Ivan! & keep up the great work < 3
RASHIK GMC thanks man! My main goal for this channel is to inspire others to try or improve in street photography. Glad you got something out of it! Keep shooting 👊🏻👊🏻
4:09 makes my day.
Qiping Zhang 😅😅
Fantastic video, thank you. You've helped me make the decision and I'm now buying a Ricoh! I love your philosophy on photography too - this was a much more helpful video than a specs and details one. I'm a new subscriber ☺️🙏

Really good tips! i especially liked listening to the street
great video, i’m very excited to shoot more in 2021! happy new year 🎆
Hey thanks man! happy new year to you too!
This is wonderful news, and I agree wholeheartedly. Cameras don't make great images, photographers do! I found you because of your Leica M-D review. Since you're not using it anymore, perhaps you could send it my way. I will even pay the shipping! D.M. sent 😂
well produced, real honesty. Great job IC!
P Carbonell thank you!
I'm really enjoying the way you made the intro, and the cinematography overall. I'm really glad I came across your channel.

Good video, really helpful, thanks
You just earned a new subscriber. I'm in the exact same boat at the moment, frustrated with my street photography. Watching your video makes me realize I don't practice as much as I should. Embrace the process and stop being so attached to the end result. Thank you!
Christopher Rodgers thanks man! Yea we just gotta take it easy on ourselves. Your best work will come if you stop forcing it 🙏🏻
This video was so well done !!!!

you reminded me of things that I need to keep on my front burner , but a simple thing that seems minute that you didn't mention is to watch out for traffic . You can get so caught up that minor thing is forgotten about
ernest thomas 😂 definitely should be on the top of the list
Man, you are inspiration.
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Damn this was sick. I appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge.

Love you vids 🔥 burning 35mm really stuck me 😆 your voice and calm narration could give your channel a title like 'mindful photography'. Love it
mistermotoki 😅 thanks man, mindfulness is key haha
I stumbled across your channel and your work has really inspired me. As in introvert, it’s hard going out alone to shoot things. But it’s something I’ll work on this year. Keep up the amazing work Ivan 🔥
Thank you!
Good wisdom. Good images.
Informative and funny , subbed!
Thank you!
You are an artist

So s killer video love your flow keep it up!!!!
Appreciate it thanks!
Nice video man, I just discovered your channel, you got a new subscriber! :)
I did street photography many years ago using film. Always enjoyed it. Yes there were days when I got nothing and others where I got some good shots. One thing that was important to me was if I was not enjoying it then I should stop doing it. I always enjoyed it.
Just getting back into it and like you I have just bought myself a Ricoh GR III. Part of the reason for this was that my first camera was a 35 mm Ricoh and I always enjoyed using it. The fact that the GR III is a great street photography camera is a bonus.
I must say I very much enjoyed this video and I am now subscribed.
TY!
These photos are fucking fantastic!
Paradoxyc thank you!!
Very cool video
Wonderful photos; can really see you enjoy using the Ricoh
One of my favorites 🙏🏻

Nice Video ( I didn't knew you are on YT as well)
That "diu lei lou mou" at 4:09 took me by surprise haha
Adam Chong 😉😉
hahaha!
Sooo good 😍😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏🙏
I like how you used "diu lay lomo" as the highlight of the sound portion. Classic HK "sound." LOL
DaDonFather 😂 sure is
Awesome to see a fellow HKer on YT, but I gotta disagree with "at the end of the day, it really is just about the final photo and not the method you use to capture it". A significant part of photography, for me, is about the experience of getting out and about and using kit that you enjoy, regardless of whether you end up with good photos (which, let's face it, most pics we take we never look at again after processing because it most likely didn't meet our expectations).
WOW your channel is just another level, new sub!
Random question, how do you film yourself? 😨 Do you always carry a tripode? Which camera do you use for yous videos? I'm searching for something compact too and I was curious, thank you!
ANDY A thanks! I think the answer is...it depends, I prefer to use a tripod but sometimes that attracts too much attention so I’ll have a smaller set up like a gorilla pod or gimbal. GH5 is my main camera for video, majority of my stuff is shot with that. But sometimes I’ll use the A7RIII if I want a shallower DOF (it’s not meant for video but it does an ok job at it).
@@ivunchow Wow thank you! Really inspiring content!!! :)

Hi Ivan,
Recently got the gr 3, was wondering if you could some your AF setting on it?
Thank you, as a young photographer I would always question myself if what I'm doing was right or wrong over the past few videos you have managed to open my eyes in a way I could truly enjoy photography again. I felt like no matter what I did I would never get the result I wanted I truly disliked this unpleasant feeling, it made me almost quit for good. Even if you don't see this thank you :) from yours truly kat.
So happy to hear that! All creatives deal with self doubt, you’re not alone. Just keep shooting 👌🏻
Good video!
Thank you!
