      @@vividbrando860 it could be a prequel mod that shows the loop that they are in before Leshy’s turn in Act 1 in the actual game. I think it’s implied that they all have had a turn to have control, and eventually have their powers revoked by either a player or the other scribes just for another to do the same.

    I dont understand how you could have realistically won the twin giant fight, there are barely any high damage cards and unlike the moon, they deal 2 damage which is also enough to kill most cards and hit you regardless of whether you have a board or not. The fact they are immune to poison and fliers make this a brick wall. Its a cool mod though but yea, the bosses seem devastating

      @@isaac922 Exploding pirates or getting lucky with sigils from the electric chair, yeah. I had Necro + buried Walkers (so 2 cost 1/2 brittle, gives me 4 bones on death) + a Frank & Stein that had the pay two bones to add 1/1 to the card (same sigil as act 2 Bone Heap) and fecundity, which would've dealt with it easily, had this version of the mod not been bugged (soft-locked for me just as it did for Sifd).

    I absolutely love the card design and aesthetic of this mod. The gameplay is extremely satisfying when it goes as planned, and most fights feel balanced enough to be easily winnable. The boss fights and aesthetics are genuinely impressive, and the card effects are contextually superb. The mechanics are surprisingly balanced, as well; I feared that Grimora would have a difficult game integration due to the bones being conditional, but adding energy into the mix creates an interesting battle progression of low cost farmers damaging each other into very strong support cards with high costs and strong high bone cost cards earning powerful victories. Card art is top tier as well!
    The balance of the events, on the other hand, needs some work. Some of these events are unnecessarily unclear and unfair, especially when you only have one life and certain events are gated behind fights. I absolutely love the gating idea, rewarding the player for getting into more difficult fights, but it doesn’t mean anything when the events can randomly give you a downside and aren’t clear as to how they will benefit you. The player will always opt for consistency over luck, and will ignore future events and their battles, as the events are simply too luck based to be worth it.
    I suggest that the electric chair be changed so that the Sigil you are getting is shown, as proper card balancing is near impossible when you can’t effectively Sigil-build. I think that the risk of losing your card could actually be changed so that the card has a chance of getting a bad Sigil on a second shock; it would be an interesting way to increase risk without just “haha card gone now”. You could get an insane second Sigil like trifurcated or four-bones, or you could get something like brittle and make the card less useful. I like the idea of the event, it just needs to be changed up to be it’s own thing that doesn’t just combine the fire pit and sacrifice slab from Leshy’s act.
    As for the Bone Lord, that shit’s annoying. The mod maker doesn’t have to listen to any of this advice, since it’s their mod and they can do what they want, but if Ara is reading this, please PLEASE change the Bone Lord so that there isn’t a negative. There is no reason for the player to ever go there, you lose a card AND have a chance of getting a terrible downside that cripples your chances of winning (a single extra bone cost can break a card in a game of such delicate balance) in return for… a random unit getting increased health. Without a negative and perhaps with a consistent choice of increasing unit health or damage, the event could be a massive boon worth finding and fighting for.
    Again, for what it is right now, this mod is insanely impressive. Please keep working on it, Ara, it is fantastic and just needs some gameplay balancing to make it the best it can be!

    I did some of the art for this mod, and designed some of the cards/sigils too.
    Project, Dybbuk, Giant, Screaming Skull, and Silbon are all my ideas and designs, and I also did the art for the Sarcophagus, Mummy Lord, Ancient Obol, Necromancer, Pharaoh's Pets, Bone Pile, Dead Hand, and Draugr.

      Hi I know it's been a while since you commented this, but I just want to say thank you for the phenomenal work on this mod. The aesthetics and card designs are my favourite part of the mod, and they taught me a lot about ghosts, spirits, and other stories from around the world. I didn't even realize that a lot of the cards weren't from the base game lol. Fantastic work!

    They should call this “Royal’s Mod” after the theme of the mod names matching skeleton names. Yes, I know Kaycee is the developer, so that’s why it’s called “Kaycee’s Mod” but it would be fun to name Magnificus’ campaign “Sawyer’s Mod” for the lols.

    The mod can stay difficult but it can't have RNG events that may help you win or may screw you over. If events have RNG components, this should only be input randomness and never output randomness. What that means is the game chooses random outcome but you are given a chance to do something with that. Take Act III's events for example, you can add a sigil to a card, you get 3 random sigils to choose from but you can choose which one to apply and to which card. Too many events in this mod feel like a yolo option, they can't help you win in a consistent way because you have to pray they give you something good.

      There's barely any events in it that give you cards, remove them, and etc. That really doesn't make for a fun time. You barely get to add and remove cards from your deck. The events are either "make a unit bad", "make a unit random", or "sac a unit for a random effect".
      They make cards and bones so much more valuable, WHY would they change the ONE event in inscryption with bone cost in mind to something SO bad and SO frustrating???? Ughhhh

      gave more thought to this: why not have every battle give you a reward event? this way you mantain the map size but you can then make every event better by giving it as a reward for beating a fight.

    I'd argue the problem isn't difficulty per sae but the way in which the difficulty is produced.
    The freezing boss isn't bad because the freeze is too powerful, it's because the mechanic is unclear and the turn 1 damage means you start the fight losing.
    For example, in vanilla every mechanic is either telegraphed or explained.
    The prospector only golds you when phase 2 starts.
    The hook is telegraphed and the boss tells you he goes for new cards.
    The white sharks come out when you kill shark bait.
    The trapper's phase 1 traps are explained in the sigils.
    The trader explains in detail how the phase 2 mechanic works.
    The freeze boss should hint at how the freeze works and have more of a curve at the start.
    edit: a bunch of mechanics should be explained in boss card sigils. you don't even need to actually make the sigils work just put them on boss cards so the player can see what those cards do.

      Literally spot on.
      Grimora tells you the giants are immune to poison, only *after* your try it, how were you supposed to know?
      The 2 of the 3 events were rng, how are you supposed to plan around it?
      When does Sawyer steal a bone? Idk, you have to count the rounds, because it doesn't give you a heads up before hand.
      When do your cards get frozen? Whenever you have to many unfrozen cards, how do you know that? You don't.
      When does one of your cards get a bomb in Royal's boss fight? Count rounds.
      This entire mod is artificial difficulty.
      Edit: apparently the Hellhound has damage equal to your bones, which I didn't even realize until I saw a comment pointing it out. They don't tell you this either.

      Ok for the freeze boss:
      1) make grimora say something about the cards being too cold and about to freeze
      2) mark all cards in your side currently on the board with a snowflake symbol or something
      3) next time, freeze all cards with that symbol and add the symbol to all cards on your side that don't have the symbol
      4) only have one draughter at the beggining of the match

      the base game already solved this with Leshy phase 1, where the prospector raises up his pick the turn before turning your side into gold nuggets. the angler has that and the dialogue and the fish hook symbol over the card, which might be a bit much when it's affecting your entire side of the board anyway

      Head playtester of Silenceman's Magnificus Mod here - the duel disk is impossible to implement due to the lack of needed 3D models and a plethora of technical issues besides, but a lot of the graphics have been updated (most recently candlestick and candle-bearing skull replaced with gem-topped pillars - Mag-themed scale coming next update) and you should see it here on Sifd's channel soon if all goes well.

    Just so you know, Sifd...
    A lot of the dialogue in this mod is going to change at a later date, and I can vouch for that.
    I provided a BUNCH of dialogue that will be implemented that leans more towards the intended story of this 'Act 4' Grimora Mod.
    Oh, one more thing I want to ask...
    When you say you lost on the first boss, was in this version or an earlier build?

      This version. More specificaly: from starvation in phase 1.
      -Freezes your units with no ability for you to hammer them
      -Boss unfreezes its units every 3-4 turns to attack and unfreeze yours
      -If you don't get lethal in 1-2 turns after that, you get frozen again, the circle repeats
      -Starvation
      I think I should have used more Skeletons (brittle) in that fight to avoid my units getting frozen, but I think the boss starting with 3 damage turn one while you can only play a skeleton turn one no matter what you do is the main problem of that fight. (yes you can hammer the skeleton and play a 1 cost but if that is the main way of beating that fight then it is a bad solution, as it forces you to use your consumable hammer...)

    Grimoria was always the "character" part of the game. Like how Leshy was world building and PO3 was strategy/gameplay
    I'd really like to see some of that 'character' stuff built in. Maybe bosses tell you their story as you fight them?

      And then maybe before the fight you would have to fill in their grave with the correct epitaphs to make sure you were paying attention like in act 2. Maybe you could even get a bonus for the boss like extra bone token or something

      Then Magnificus is all visual stuff? Also wait, that does make sense, P03 is a machine, a calculative cold thing that will like gameplay more than anything, Grimora has a writing related item, Magnificus has a brush, so he should be all about cool looks. Though Leshy and his camera don't explain his world building and atmosphere building, but hey, everyone else is a perfect fit.

      @@ZizixxSamurai I think the camera makes perfect sense! In a total literal sense, atmosphere is the world around us. Taking pictures is a great way to capture that. And if you're creating a world, pictures are often your best reference
      I think Magnificus might be even more literal. He might be 'graphics' or 'effects'

    Some notes for the mod creators. 1.) Bosses should have a tell for when they are about to do their gimmick, most notably the ice boss. Having a random negative event that the player can't predict isn't difficult, it's frustrating. 2.) Boons/Curses and upgrades are not the same. If the bone lord is going to give a curse it should be a curse. I like the idea behind what is currently there, but making it a different event would be better.
    Overall great mod. Needs some work, but what mod doesn't?

    Nice that energy shows up now, that was a big problem that is now fixed
    Suggestion for the grimora fight: when grimora inscrybes a card, she does so imperfectly - the card has one less health or attack. If a card would ever reach -1 on either stat, it dies instantly (or becomes a 0/1, whichever is easier)
    1:13:30 why does poison not work here? This mod/boss is hard enough already, and, you are only half 1-shoting the phase when leshy lets you one shot the moon?
    I would recommend changing some of the events, like being able to flee the grave and bone lord, or making it always positive or at least remove the increase cost.
    For the electric chair I would recommend showing the sigil on the first time and have grimora say it ("you could push your luck for the sigil of [sigil name] but you would have to risk another moment under the shock)
    It seems like a lot of sifd's opinions lined up with mine just wanted to say I wrote this independently lol

      which version do I need to use to see batteries? Cuz 2.7.3 of mine is not working. Or do I need to boot up pressing some of the game's 4 acts instead of pressing the mod button?

      TBF Kaycee's Mod does "fix" the moon, but beast decks are naturally harder to totally stall out, it only deals direct damage when totally unopposed (which again is less likely on a beast deck AND just in itself less punishing than a straight attack to every space), and you can work around it with the right items anyway. not to mention that KM still lets you become more powerful in ways that this mod doesn't really. no campfire, no mycologist, no sigil transfers, the bone lord sacrifice actually harms you so you can't even thin out your deck, no totems, no items, etc etc.

    The game is hard for two big reasons:
    Not enough events to buff your cards.
    Bosses specifically have unfair mechanics because of the mod being unfinished, the attacks are random and without telegraph.
    Hopefully when the mod is finished these issues can be fixed.

      Idk if its the quantity of events, more like quality.
      Decresing cost to make a card die after attacking doesnt seem like a good thing.
      Same with the sacrifice for random buff or nerf.

      I think a nice idea is for on boss fights any card with brittle instead of dying after attacking dies after the end of the opponent's turn.

      ​@neonoah3353 Not to mention adding any sigil that interacts with death in any way actively harms you in the final boss where Grimora immediately copies and plays the card that just died leading to things like "double banshee" from this video. A big part of the undead deck is outright unplayable because the final boss literally punishes you for engaging in it.

    NGL the twin giant fight feels way harder than the moon (almost like a grizzly rush) since it can attack any empty space directly unlike the moon which needs a clear board.
    Considering that was only phase 2 out of 3 for the final fight, I dread to think what the last phase would be like.

      The problem is that we were shown the mechanics of the maps of all scribes except Magnificus.
      Leshy has a map.
      P03 has a holographic world.
      Grimora has chess.
      What about Magnificus?

    The bomb would have been great on the twin giants phase, yikes. That phase looked ridiculous otherwise, even stronger 'moon' on a mod that has far less powercreep. Felt that without specific cards, some battles are far too tough than what it was expected to be. And to be worse that there's not as much control on cards offered throughout the run.

    I just realised every scrybes uses their own economy + one other scrybes economy for card costs
    Leshy uses *sacrifices* and bones
    Grimora uses *bones* and energy
    P03 uses *energy* and mox crystals
    Magnificus uses *mox crystals* and sacrifices

    i dunno about you, but i ran this mod for the first time a few days ago and the first boss doesn't feel hard in the slightest
    starting at a disadvantage of 3 was really scary when i first got to it, but you do enough consistent damage to overcome it very easily. i think the root of your problem might be that you're not drawing from your skeleton deck commonly enough early on - it's 1 free damage every turn AND gets you more bones. there were a lot of situations where you barely had any bones, or you had enough bones to play one thing from your hand that you already knew you wanted to play (ie gravedigger turn 2, or bone heap turn 2), and decided to draw a card from your deck instead of a skeleton to gain advantage and eke out an extra bone.
    the second boss was also scary, but i dunno, it only got me a couple of times. the hellhound's attack is equal to the amount of bones you own, which the game doesn't actually tell you (which i don't like, but they at least place it on the board THEN give you 2 bones as a little demonstration of the effect), so it either does no damage or you have the means to play stuff to kill it and chump block. the only time that i died on phase 2 was when i specifically drew a fragile card from my main deck (the other death on this boss was to bad math in phase 1). the third boss, the pirate, annihilates me, but i also don't understand the details of its mechanics in the slightest, so that's probably a big factor in it.
    the real killer, though, is grimora herself. only got to her a few times, but i can't begin to think of how i'd deal with her second phase, let alone the bonelord. with all of the fragile, low-health stuff you have, and with her mechanics like copying your dead cards, it feels like she hard-counters the core mechanics of your deck - which is probably intentional, but good god is that brutal.

    Wow, I can feel the frustration even without playing the mod, the fact that bosses' gimmicks are told through dialoges AFTER they are used is a horrible idea, imagine if in original game angler would randomly steal your cards and then say something like "My fish", also he would do it almost every turn, that's how this mod feels. If I played it, I probably would drop it after 1 or 2 attempts at first boss.
    By the way, why is energy here? As I remember, only the bone horn card is connected to energy in any way in original game, and its mechanic is completely different here.

    What might make it better is cards being given slightly more frequently giving more options and stuff to throw or more good cards + not a seemingly common attempt to balance cards when the game was made to allow insanely broken cards and this kinda makes that allot harder and specific cards required to progress makes it beyond difficult to play since it doesn't seem to have allot of cards, 1 life, low damage and troubling mechanics

    This reminds me of Captain's Edition mod for the game FTL as both tries to achieve a similar effect of starting with low resources and you need to play optimally to beat the game

    Big fan of your Inscryption videos! I downloaded this mod after seeing your other video with it, and was really happy to see they've done a lot of changes since then. All the bosses are easier than when you went through. I was able to beat Grimora on my first run (I did quit and reenter twice, but still). Tried again and my second and third run I couldn't with the cards I got. But I think it's a good level of challenging at the moment because it is possible and not as terrible as when you played. I hope you give it another chance! You can also access it in Kaycee's mod too, you can do a Grimora run there and do challenges and stuff. I only just started those so I don't know much about them but it seems like there's plenty of potential worth looking into if you feel up to it.

    You can divide gamers in two camps people who want rogue like where your progress made till you die turns into strengths for your next run. And those few masochists who love increasing punishment who play dark souls. Both camps love overcoming but in different ways.

      but thats the thing with dark souls, the difficulty isnt luck based, and you can get better at the game. you learn attack cycles and get better at defeating enemies because of that, you dont just get lucky with a run. i believe strategy games should be kept mainly to those two groups, dark souls or roguelike, as any other form of "difficult" game treads closer to rage games, which arent exactly played to enjoy from my experience

    I definitely think the first ice fight would be vastly improved if her first round ability was just unfreezing draugr and for round two she just freezes your board in one go, like the prospector.

    HELP! I am at last playing Grimora's Mod! But something is wrong...
    I can't see the ENERGY meter, u know those green shiny potions or batteries on the right... But most importantly, when I go out of the game (main menu) it just reboots my deck. It doesn't seem to save my progress.
    In addition, the game automatically starts again once I'm defeated (but idk if this is normal).
    What can I do?

    it just seams like with the bone lord if you sacrifice good card you get beeter ones most of the time also it would make sense that if you sacrifice the bone lords horn to the bone lord you should get somthing great sins its HIS HORN

    This mod has been playtested a lot, theres a whole server for it and there multiple people who help playtest it and give balance feedback. I don't know why you kept constantly complaining throughout the kaycee fight, you were winning that entire time, it just seems like you were upset over how hard it was BEFORE, rather than it's current difficulty. Cause the first boss has been nerfed drastically.
    The Sawyer fight could be explained a bit better, but the hell hound isn't an insta lose if you don't have a touch of death card. They way hell hound's attack is calculated is based on the amount of bones you have, hence why it's attack was so obscenely high, cause you stockpiled a ton of bones and kept playing skeletons instead of drawing and playing your costlier cards. Also the fact that hell hound's attack is based on your bones is the entire reason sawyer takes your bones every few turns, to try and prevent hell hound from being so obscenely powerful.
    The reaper node is entirely optional, it's there primarily to remove bad cards from your deck with a bonus or negative as side effects. Though the negative side effects are less likely than the positive ones.
    And Grimora is meant to be difficult, especially compared to leshy who's a joke, she's the final boss afterall. But there are already pretty decent nerfs coming to her fight next update.

      Honestly,recently I have felt like Sifd can’t stand up to even a modicum of difficulty despite liking his content.Vampire Survivors is literally just a glorified walking simulator despite all the flashy skills and items,Inscryption which have already been abused and have already had basically an established meta doesnt exactly seem hard to win anymore and even more so at his level,Warm Snow is moderately skill based and is probably the only one of his current series that seems good to me.Grimora Mod getting the shaft doesn’t feel right to me when it’s meant to be difficult,However this is my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

      Sifd did make plenty of macro mistakes (going for units that don't do anything cool, not picking the giant because of it's high cost, etc) but the mod really needs a clarity update.
      Also, people should really stop bashing the Leshy fights, because the game didn't get to where it did by being extremely difficult. The folks who like this kind of difficulty are a vocal minority that inscryption in general, modded or not, should not cater to.
      The modders have great ideas but their ideas don't take balance into account. Imo, the freeze isn't okay, and it should be more like the final fight in base inscryption: the ice comes out of the skull when it's about to happen, and it doesn't happen based on damage or anything, it happens regardless. Every 4 turns or so.
      The hellhound fight is okay, I guess.
      The reaper node isn't always optional, neither is any other node. Sometimes they are forced. In inscryption, no event really fucks you over when it's forces

      @@rafasilva1265 The modders do take into account balance, theres literally a bunch of people helping to playtest. Clarity is already being done to help make the boss mechanics more clear, and the reaper node is already being changed so it only gives positive effects, and reguardless it's meant to only be optional. You aren't supposed to be forced into one I believe.

    Hey ik ya won't read this, but to anyone who DOES. The mod got "easier" way more balancing changes, added alot-and i mean alot.. of stuff. Fixed some things, and added a 2nd phase to Royal! Also a just- absurdly fun mod as a base (even if it's still frustrating at times lol) requires actual deck building, fun mod!

    I think your frankly over critical of the mod, sure there are things that arnt perfect, but you are reacting like it burns your skin. Some things can just be mediocre, some things can be bad, if everything is good it becomes boring.
    Every time you were like “Oh here comes something that’s gonna kill the run” didn’t really seem that bad. Even the bone lord increasing cost wasn’t that bad, just means you’ll need to pivot a little more into bone generation, which you do naturally since it’s the focus of the mod
    Stuff I’d agree with you on is like, starting move on kaycee is too much, but the mechanic is fine. Final Giants should have poison immunity telegraphed on the card

    so... why is one of design part of bone deck is locked by breaking the tool? (hammering the cards is heavy part of playing bone deck in chapter 2... Breaking the tool is taking some strategy and fun out of the battles) It feels like... If with energy deck you can play only one card per turn with no matter of energy. Or with blood deck can only sacrifice 2 cards of 4... It just feels wrong .-.

    I feel like this mod just requires a little bit of planning in-order for the boss to be possible. If you picked up the card that costs 15 bones and does 7 damage bifurcated, that would have insta killed phase 2 of the final boss.
    Phase one could have easily been cheesed by playing the card that causes your cards to die twice, then playing two grave diggers.
    Then you pass a bunch of turns until you get a flier, and draw your decks to prepare for the next phase.
    I can agree that maybe the rest of it shouldn't be so hard, but a final boss that isn't easily beatable makes sense. Like a final boss should not be beatable without some preparation, otherwise it isn't really a boss, it's just a special encounter.

    My take on this mod (I haven't seen the last boss yet at the time of writing)
    The good: The mod looks wonderful, I love the models and the concepts and art for new grim/undead-themed cards. The dialogue that isn't recycled feels in character for Grimora. I like the CONCEPTS (not so much the execution of said concepts) for new events. You can see the effort that went in this.
    The bad: The events. The grave one is okay but I absolutely hate the electric chair one as is. I'd say the way to fix it is to make it similar to P03's. Let the player chose one of several. If you wanted to keep the randomness, you could say the chair will randomly apply one of two sigils shown. The mod needs more ways for you to objectively improve your cards. The boss fight mechanics aren't too unfair in of themselves, but the player doesn't get told how they work.

    during the first bossfight "you can only and i mean ONLY play a single skeleton", is totally wrong, you couldve played the skeleton, hammered it, and played the bone heap, maybe even hammered that and then you start with a whole 4 bones

    Great mod. After watching like 3 of these videos though, you seem to have a habit of saying that you lose every 5 seconds even when you easily overcome things. That's a big distracting, talking through plays and stuff is good but I don't really want to hear about how hard something is over and over. Just show me by losing if its so hard, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Also, I do agree about your comments on random negative events (those suck).

    But Siiiifd... The hell hound looks more balanced than what you said: since it leaps in front of your attacking creatures, it won't attack you until you have no more creatures, and it will take damage from all your board

    I think the problem was that the events are too random and not really giving any good pay offs, more like pay oofs.
    Giving a random sigil to a card is good.
    Making a card self destruct for a decrease in cost seems bad.
    And the bonelord is just shitty, going -1 for a random buff or nerf is super bad.

    the only thing that was actually actively bad was definitely the fact that the giants dont tell you that they are immune to poison like what the moon does, and the fact the bone lord thing can harm your cards
    basically everything else was.. well, mostly fine, certainly not perfect, but definitely works well

    Lol never seen Sifd so upset with a mod. Seems like its a great mod. I see that Its a mod where you need top tier strats to win. Seems a bit punishing but also the duplicating Grimora cards probably wasn't suppose to happen. He would have been able to beat I think if it wasn't double duping his cards. But like sifd said, if there was more ways to power up his cards it could be easier without changing bosses.

    the sacrifice and get random nerf or buff is a bit no for me. If you wanna let player take a risk, you should reward the player instead of giving them more hard time. Immuning to death wouldnt be op but looking at all the cards in the mod, units that damage has small health, or units with decent health and no damage, and dealing 2 damage is a bit too much unless it just attack monsters and deal less damage to life?
