So well said! Interoception--feeling in to internal states. New information for me--cutting as a strategy to activate the Insula. As usually Dr. Jen explains the brain so well!

I’m so frustrated you don’t have a million videos! I really like this and I was hoping you had the follow up video posted. Please let me know if you do have a moment to post it. 🌸🙏🏼🌸
Can you recommend a good learning source or two along these lines?

I read a study indicating that the insula is stimulated during mindful breathing. If someone already has an overactive insula could stimulating it through mindfulness practices actually cause anxiety and panic? And if so, what would be the work around?

The Insula respond to what happening in body, so it take action. It would much better locate the spot in body where the emotion is coming and direct the breathing there, so the message the insula get would be, thing is working fine and doent react in negative way.

I think amygdala hold big t issue with mental crazy. It process all crap from past.I wonder if healing amygdala there lot improvement healing past. Fear is the main emotion that arise in body, it takes different form. The Insula seems also monitor all body feeling.
Once I located strange feeling in my stomach area for no reason, in order to rid of it, I visualized light and warm in the spot, in few minutes the message was passed to the brain and the feeling vanished.
It seems the insular function is receive message from the body and act according with information. I use it lot in order to make feel good.

If the insula is the part of the brain that makes me feel emotions then I would just want it surgically removed 😭

My desperation is rising. How can you all record the functions of the brain and don’t see the bigger picture (what is it‘s evolutionary new function in society). I think I need a lot of booze so that I can bomb my IQ down to the level where this society and this type of „therapy“ actually feels cosy, normal, healthy and especially sane.

🤐 When the last people with brain left on the planet are outnumbered so hard, that no one will listen to them any way. Or here their warning screams…All hail to the swarm and long life the Borg Queen!
