I am an old school driver where I like my Jake brakes and 13 to 18 manual gears and a Catapiller engine . 500 to 600 horsepower

Trucks today have no personality. Trucks back in the day had a personality of its on, those old truck have a story to tell. Just my opinion.

Dave, I'm a lot like you are about trucks. My 98 model Pete 379 is sitting in the driveway with one million and thirty four miles on it. And it's still in good condition but I don't run for free.

Cabover’s were used because the trailer length allowed for longer but the overall length did not increase along with it. Once the overall length laws were dismissed, the cowboy Ruth died a painful death

A buddy ordered IH straight trucks with the 530[big 466 cubicinch] inline 6 cylinder..Put on a used 36 inch sleeper and a tag axle. He hauls tanks and this is real light. Course you can't do this any more or buy glider kits and put in a used motor.

I agree completely. The old trucks were awesome. The trucks back then looked great and very distinct. The trucks were better and the times were better back then.

If Dave was driving in the 60s, he must be 100 years old.

Cabover trucks of that era, with the driver over the front wheels, beat the hell out of drivers. European cabovers have used technology to solve that problem, but with current Anerican length limits, there's no reason to shorten the wheelbase of the truck.

Woopsie! I see you eventually gotta length laws. Cowboys is also road like crap, and wall onto you when you needed to tilted forward to work on the engine; and everything you owned ended up on the inside of the windshield

The bottom line, our never ending government regulations and added departments have destroyed not just trucking but every industry…

The only truck today that still has a unique look and personality is the International Lonestar. Now unfortunately most of the engine options for that truck are complete crap and of course the aero on the top of the cab is the standard Navistar FOOPA. But it’s a unique looking truck for sure.

I don't believe in the arrow dynamics it probably helps some but but the grill say on a Volvo is not much size difference from say a 379 its still in the wind stream I believe it's in the computer programming fuel control . I know of 379 Pete's getting round 8mpg 600 hp heck the Volvo I was driving only got 7 something loaded didn't change much even with a head wind it didn't change much so I don't believe in this arrow dynamics I think its how the engines are set up

Only driving 6 yrs, choosing to drive temporary for a small family operation because they keep me in a junky looking old 2000 FL Century with a 12.7/meritor 10-speed.
MUCH rather drive this old girl than the new ugly, unsafe (brake assist), no character, automatics.

Buy a New Cascadia, rip the drivetrain out of it. Replace it with a Series 60 14L with 18-speed and 2.54 ring and pinion gears. Drive the truck accordingly and thank me later. The transportation industry will grind to a halt and North America will grind to a halt with it.
