Felt like "Welcome to 1922!" when I saw the bridges and that old RR tunnel. I bet those lights stay on so long because of how the one lane bridge/crossing/road are so connected and the one at a time bridge needs a long oncoming train warning. This was a GOOD ONE!
This video to me is by far one of your best ! I really do enjoy all of your videos , but this one really fascinated me a lot because of it's location ! Thank you for all your hard work you put into each and every one you post .
Wow. What stunning scenery. My favourite things trains, snow and mountains. The historic infrastructure is interesting. Up there with your best videos . Thank you so much. 🇦🇺
That's one of my favorite style of bridges. The steel on it looks pretty beefy-must be due to the length of the span, which looked lengthy. This video is so good in its entirety, I give it two thumbs up!! 👍👍
Great finds Jaw, I’ve been across that bridge many years ago working on flood control projects along the Tug and Levisa Forks of the Big Sandy River. It’s even spookier in the summer when leaves are on the trees, because your visibility is limited coming across the bridge to that crossing. Nice to see CSX moving coal, maybe to be unloaded onto barges on the Ohio River. Thanks for sharing.
It would be interesting to know where that coal train is headed. My guess, it's headed directly to a not too distant coal fired power station. If that coal was bound to be loaded on barges, it would have been delivered to a trans shipment depot along the Kanawha or Ohio Rivers.
I’ve not seen a switch heater like that before. The ones I see in Canada look more like a signal box with an air duct to the switch. Nice catch with that coal train.
Jaw Tooth, this is why we all love your channel, you go to the extremes in getting really awesome footage!! You are a true railfan!! Thank you for braving the extremely cold weather in getting this, it is truly Beautiful there!
One of the best videos yet. Great composition of the trestle, river, and train, not to mention the rare single lane highway span across the river. And all of this tied together in a snowy scene. Keep up the great work with the camera. All of the effort it takes to get to these out of the way historical locations are really appreciated. I wonder where the branch that went through the tunnel was headed. Very neat rock formations in the tunnel. Thanks, too, for the close up of the switch heater. The entire video had interesting and historical aspects to it.
I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee in my pajamas. I really appreciate your efforts to get to these amazing places to catch trains! Be well and get warm! 😎😎
I Live here, and I love it as well. The bridge you crossed over to enter WV.. did you notice it has a traffic light in the center, with ability to turn from? If I am not mistaken, at one time it was in the Guinness book of World Records.
I love driving over old bridges like the one in this video. We had one in southeast Austin that still had the wooden running bords on it. I dove across it every chance I got.
We still have one with the wood floor near here in Pekin, Indiana that's still in use. I used to know of 3 more around here but they've all since been closed to all but foot traffic. There a 3 span burr arch truss covered bridge over the White river about 20 miles North of me in Jackson County near the town of Medora and about 30 miles west of me in Paoli, Indiana there's an old iron bridge with a steel grate floor you can look through as you drive over it. The bridge in Pekin that's still open was built in 1884. The one in Paoli was built in 1880.
I love this entire area, especially that narrow bridge that only one car can go through. And the crossing. You don't see much of that anywhere. Very nice find. Have a nice day😊
This may be your most unique spot, Brian it had everything! Would have liked to go through that tunnel and seen the homes back in there. GREAT FIND SIR!
Awesome video Jawtooth! I've been there, always wondered if those bridge's were still there, now I know! Haven't been there since 1986! Thanks for sharing! I'll have to ride back up there and see it again sometime! That switch heater is cool! You are so good about finding the neatest things! This is one of your greatest video's!
Nice " frozen catches Jawtooth!! The MOW with little trailer is a magnet machine for picking up old spikes and plates . Magnet arm plucks up plates and spikes and piles them up on trailer. Stay warm and be safe on those snowy and icy roads. See you on the next video.
That first spot was amazing. I'm guessing not a lot of train traffic on that line. It was nice that you were able to catch a coal train. That second train was on a mission.Great video!
Great job filming this. Every second was very interesting. Beautiful place with lots of sites and things to look at and explore. You did it again, no surprise, you always deliver.
I enjoyed this one so much Jaw Tooth! Thank you for getting out in that weather to film such a unique spot. So much going on in one small area and the visuals were only enhanced by the blanketing snow. Would like to know more about the history of that tunnel and those bridges for sure.
Great location. That's a great find with a lot of interesting items, as if the bridge meets bridge isn't interesting enough. Having a train come through is just icing on the cake. Thanks.
As usual, great scenery, lots of info and one great catch after another! I'm not sure what you think, but I think a revisit during warm weather might be in order. A coal run through those green hills would be a sight to behold!
Probably one of your coolest finds for 2022! That signal heater noise is interesting, as if it's the sound anticipating some action is on the way. The railroad crossing signal didn't stop until you cleared the tracks 🤣🤣🤣
What an incredible view, that could be great setting for a movie with all that going on in one spot. Surprised to see three cars all at once there, seems so isolated!? Great episode today, thanks! 🎯
Awesome ,luv those old C & O signals ! And those 2 bridges meeting , what are the chances . And topping it by that old rail tunnel used for vehicles. You are the KING take your bow !!!!!!!!
Thanks for braving the cold weather so we don't have to. That tunnel was pretty cool with the smokestacks stains on the ceiling. Even the MOW self-propelled vehicle with its own trailer.
SON!!! I know you were out in the 26 degrees, but MAN you have outdone yourself with this segment!! The bridges were REALLY COOL and the C&O signals, tunnel and switch heaters were neat finds!!! Catching a train on that bridge was awesome… and the NS train blowing by kicking up snow, one would get a shower if too close!! They were smoking by! And the stack train in the closing sequence… all of this was an OUTSTANDING effort!!! Start the video, son!!!!
Freight trains, bridges, rivers, trestles go hand in hand, dont they? But when you throw in a snowy winter scene along with......AWESOME. The only thing missing is the male and female cardinal perched on branches together watching trains. Perfect Christmas card.
JT out in the cold and snow. Dogs and cat inside in the warmth napping after snacking. Alas the animals can't appreciate today's travel adventures. You were blessed with the thin layer of snow which acted like fill in lighting. The old signals really stand out and the two old bridges were fantastic. A grade crossing at the end of it and then making a V and positioned on angular supports. For a non lined tunnel it was in really good shape with only one real roof leak. So good I have to watch it again
I'll give you all the glory standing around in the cold weather waiting for that train. You deserve at least 4 thumbs up 👍for your enjoyment for us, awesome spot you sure find some neat stuff to shoot and share now get warm and stay safe on those winter roads. God bless you Jaw Tooth.
Awesome catch and location. The way a single lane bridge and single lane rail line coming off a trestle cross is just beautiful. Well worth the wait I'd say. Keep up the great work.
Hooooeeeey, that was some LIVE ACTION!!! Something for everyone on this one. I used to see those pumpjacks all over the place growing up in South Texas. Thanks, JT!
I wonder if the auto bridge was once a train bridge or at least the supports. Good video, glad you braved the weather, you may have to come back to there in warm weather.
Where I used to work there was a track running by our reservoir, a siding came off that track (NS) and there was also a switch heater. I used to come in to work early in the morning on a cold day and hear that heater running just like that. One time the heater caught fire and I had to call the Fire Dept. to stop any trains from going over those burning switch heaters. This was an excellent video!
"Ahh.....but wait, there's more!!!!! Of course there always is." You have to trademark that!! Great video as always. Really liked this one!! Thanks for sharing. Love your pets! (Eat the kitty!!!!) :)
Jaw Tooth, an abolute winner today! A truly, really great video. The Narrow Bridges, the old tunnel, th e oil pumping unit and that last long, long train. The snow and trees. Great. Thanks. This was a treat of my DDoT.
Appreciate you being out in the cold and giving the radio channel. Now all I need you to do is buy me a scanner (early birthday present- my birthday is in April) lol.
Nice one. Love those old trestles. The one I think would be a whole lot of fun to watch would be chasing an RJ Corman coal train along Loup Creek from Mt. Hope to Thurmond. Maybe even starting at PAX. That's the one you gotta get!!
Awesome video as always, cool location. Miss the snow. U deserve an A for your Efforts. That’s some diehard rail fanning. Keep it up. Your furry little friends are so Sweet to. Thanks

You deserve two thumbs up for being out in the cold and snow.
👍👍
Thanks Tim!
Trains, tunnels and vintage bridges. A winning trifecta!
Most of us will never see something like this in person. Thanks for bringing these videos into our homes.
Thanks for watching Vicki! I am getting ready for a trip to central W Virginia right now. Looking for coal trains and old signals
@@JawTooth that's great! I'll be watching for some new videos.

Awesome work Brian! Stay safe! 452 axels - 12 for the locomotives = 440 / 4 per car = 110 coal cars.
Nice 👍

I'm a old retired railroader, now living in Ohio. Sure enjoy your videos. That one from W.Va takes number one spot. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Where ever you go you sure do film the beautiful scenes so nice to see thank you ❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed

Same!:)
12 ton weight limit
Awesome and thanks!
One of coolest Jaw Tooth videos yet! Did you realize that the lead loco on that coal train was the Spirit of Birmingham? Stay safe!
Hi JT I just loved the videos you made the bridge in Kentucky awesome thank you so much ❤❤❤

The type of switch heater in the video is in Europe very common.
I see one up in Montana would actually have fire coming off of it
@@jamescotter5376 in Chicago, too.
It felt like standing by a bon fire. lol

Great job
Praise the Lord for this day that He has made. We are rejoicing and glad in it and watching trains. God bless.

The MOW equipment is an electro-magnet for picking up metal debris along the tracks (used/leftover spikes, tie plates, etc...).
Thanks for the info. I would really like to see one in operation. Amazing how powerful that must be
Man, that NS was haulin’ butt. Thanks for the pets!

Jaw tooth this signals go off after train long gone ❤😊
I love the tunnel road is pretty cool I never knew they have heaters for the track’s really cool thanks again ❤❤❤
Awww... Chessie & Norfie all snuggled up, enjoying their sun bath together.
I live in Oklahoma and we have those pumping jacks all over the iron horse for pumping oil. Great video as usual! Loved it!

How interesting . The bridges that overlap . The snow covered area looks majestic .

It is a walking beam oil well pump. It only goes up and down when there is not enough pressure in the well to force the oil out.
Looked like a magnet for picking up spikes and debris after track maintenance.
This video is a symphony in black and white under the snow! I really like!
I counted 110 cars on the first train which does match the axle count of the hot box detector.
