Could you do a video on suggested type of plants for types of pots...for example, a ceramic pot vs terracotta...if certain plants do with in one vs other.
I thought your tutorial was very informative, thank you. Now I'm going to the kitchen and replant my babies. Again, thank you so much for this video. I'm thinking of making videos on how I love my indoor garden. I notice people love cute puppies, cats, and plants. I love them too!
I just recently got my first Monstera this week and your videos slowly give me confidence in taking on larger plants that "I can do this!" LOL* Thanks!~
Hi Harli! I love seeing you happy potting these babies! Thank you for doing this for us. I would loooove to hopefully win anything but if I had a choice I would go for the pink lady. Ps. Thank you for being so open with your feelings, I think we don’t ever see how real RUclips and everything about it can be. You are the reason why me and my plants are so happy. Sending you all the hugs xo
Great video! Thank you! Now I feel confident to repot my house plants. I also learned that the soil should cover the plant even at the top. I think that is why one of my plants is going down hill bc the soil has vanished lol.
I would love to see an update on your monstera. Thanks for the info. During our lovely 3 month lockdown I discovered my love for plants. The monstera is my next. ❤️
Harli!!! You are an absolute gem!!! Thank you so much for such a wonderful video, please keep them coming. I adore watching and learning with you 🌵🌿🌱🌿🌵
This was a great video! I always kill my plants and now I think I see why. I just bought some new plant babies and I am going to try repotting them this way. Thank you!!
Harli: uses a small pot to grab fresh soil so as to keep fingernails clean. Also Harli: breaks up soil from nursery pot with bare hands 😂 But in seriousness, thank you! Great video. Helped me a lot!
Your location is very good for growing beautiful plants, I really amazed because the climate is good no more snows. What would you do during winter season? Salamat/Thanks ✨😁👍
Great video. I will be potting at least 2 plants. While my mother has done this several times, I have not. This gave me the basic information that i needed.
Yes!!! Watering is super important I think and sometimes difficult to know when! One thing that I love about taking care of my plants is that they teach us to follow our senses :) for me, my favorite way to check is to touch the soil and go two knuckles down.. If the soil feels dry it is usually good to water :) Hope this is helpful!
One of the biggest mistakes people make is overwatering their house plants. House plants love to be deep watered and then leave it alone until all water consumed by the plants. How long depends on the size of the plant or the environment of the surrounding. One of the tools that will help you to know when to water is using a moisture gauge. It's like a thermometer but it measures the moisture condition of the soil.
It kind of depends really, but this is just a general rule of thumb. Mostly because substrate in a large pot holds on to more moisture & can cause root rot in small plants.
Nice video. B what to do after the plant grows even more that this new pot would be small & you would have to repot it again? How would you squeeze the actual pot?
Love the video - thank you. Is it important that the pot is 2” larger than the nursery pot? What if it is event bigger than that? Would that be a problem?
Absolutely love your videos. I can't wait to stumble upon a monstera that isn't an arm and a leg $$$. But they are popular for a reason they are gorgeous plants
Are you in u.s or u.k? If you are in the U.K homebase has started bringing them in now that it is spring. I got a full beautiful healthy plant with over 10 leaves for under £10. Online they were asking that for a single leaf cutting 🤔😣..... lol Hope this helps
Informative, fun I guess, and takes guess work out of repotting. Thank you for this. You have been praised. Fun Fact: up until a few years ago I thought it was "guest work". 🤔
What's your repotting process?! I am also so nosy wanting to know how others do things :P The dirt is a staple in my morning coffee at this point! Haha
Hi Hali…Thak you sooooo much for your videos. I personally greatly appreciate it… My mom places few med size stones on the bottom of the pot when she is replanting any plants !! Do you have any idea WHY?? Also, grocery store prices on vegetables especially salad greens is crazy; so we decided to start planting some vegetables in my tiny space that’s available!! You think you can make a video on how to start your own vegetables garden at home…please pretty please 🙏…thanks and keep up the great work …❤️❤️
Thank you so much fir this informative video on reporting. I just purchased a brunch of 4 inch plants and I was not sure of the pot size. This helps I will use the 6 inch Many blessings to you on helping us newbies on houseplant care.
It’s always necessary to avoid water collecting in the soil and the roots rotting. So always choose an inner pot with holes for an outer pot without or simply pick an outer pot with holes and use a little pot dish underneath 😉 hope this helps
@@cashben Yeah, especially if the plant is root bound (like Harli mentioned in the video) you're going to want to repot your plant into a pot the next size up...so ~2 inches bigger in diameter than the pot it is currently in.
Should newly reported house plants be watered from the top, or bottom watering? I noticed you watered from the top so I was just curious 😊 P.S. your videos are great and super informative!
Watching this because I’m going to try repotting again. I’m going to start off easy with some small snake plants, but I know they don’t love too much water. Would you recommend watering them so thoroughly after repotting?
This video is was very helpful. I have a question though.. what might it mean if you just repotted after buying and the stems end up drooping the next day? This has happened with my new alocasias, so im worried ive done something wrong.
Thank you for your very helpful video. The only thing is, when I watch these videos I like buy the exact product you reccomend, but I live in London and can't get some of the items or there any other alternatives you can reccomend instead? I have 6 beautiful plants waiting to be watered! 💦🌱🌿🌾
Hi Harley, when I pot my plant in a ceramic pot, how will I know when it needs repotting again? How will I see the root growth of it is in a ceramic pot? X
You should always choose a pot with holes in the bottom. If your pot doesn't have holes, you can buy a diamond tip hoke saw from a hardware store and drill them yourself. Another method that works is putting duct-tape over the area you want to drill a hole in (in an X like a pirate map so you have two layers of tape), and then you can drill the hole with a normal drill bit
You can also get Black Gold soil at ACE Hardware (at least that's where I get mine). I actually found it cheaper there compared to anywhere else I've seen even Amazon
Quick question, do you need to break up the soil when moving the plant from the nursery pot to the newer pot if you are transferring it to a same size pot? Or is it only necessary to loosen soil when you are transferring to a larger pot and adding more soil?
It might sound sillly, but would you try to repot it in a bigger nursery pot? And then place it in your terra cotta? I’m new to plants, and I think it would be easier for transferring plants in the future and also If your pot doesn’t have a drainage hole.
I didnt know about the squeezing technique...if the soil falls apart when I go to repot it will it ruin the plant? I got a terririum little plant, it looks fine for now after repotting, but I'm worried I may have damaged it.
May I suggest you hide your mic from the wind. I am watching on a large flat screen TV and the wind sound over powers your voice ☺️. Your technique looks good, I like your video and your demo without sound still works.
You can also buy large trays that are used for tomato grow bags they come in lots of different sizes but are always great for adding pebbles and water....they act as a humidity tray meaning less watering and any over watering you do will just refill the humidity tray meaning less mess and less fuss. The best thing is beacuse they're not single trays you can get your collection nice and close together in a nice arrangement meaning less lost space... beneficial for you and for your plants as they like to be social and among similar plant friends lol I know I sound weird saying that ...but trust me lol😉
Similar question- all the “nice” indoor planters don’t have drainage holes. What gives? I just keep the plants in nursery(?) planters housed in pretty planter, but now roots showing. Should one repot in planters without drainage hole? Maybe vid request.
@@alasandi31 they are just meant as external pots. If you need to repot from the nursery pot that has drainage just buy the next size up with drainage holes they are cheap and buy another nice indoor one for the outside that's the right size of you want. Keep the old nice indoor pot for a new smaller plant. Try plan your next purchase so it is smaller than the spare pot you have and has tome to grow into it. Every plant needs drainage holes. The nice ceramic ones are only for decoration.

This is a good suggestion cuz I have plants and not know which pot is good for the plants
The outdoor view is nice and refreshing! I wish I had a backyard like that. 💖
Me to
That potstill doesn't look big enouh for those rootsj

I didn’t see a comment saying this but with bonsai we use a chop stick or something like that to make sure the soil packs in well.
Awesome videos!
This was so helpful- never repotted a plant until today. Thanks!

This was so informative! I usually just hide the top of my plant with other soil but I will never do that again. Thank you!
Me neither!

Needing to repot a rhapidophora tetrasperma tonight and knew you'd have a video up on this so here I am!
You made this so simple and understandable. Thank you! Right to the point. And I love Black Gold too. Great video.
Thank you SO much for this tutorial! I am new to planting and I just want some life around me.

Super helpful! I am a new plant daddy and can’t wait to get a monstera. Thank you
Beautiful plant👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I’m so happy you explained how to plant so that the base isn’t planted🥺
Thought you needed rocks for drainage.

Very helpful for a first time plant owner
Hey thanks this my first time doing this repotting stuff. Your video was major help. Good lookin shorty.
I started watching you when I moved in with my daughter in 2021
Thanks for all your videos Harli I've learned so much from you and your mom now I just need to get as many plants as you and her😂

Haha thanks Peter!
Thank you for this because I was REALLY gonna just throw my plant away! Great video!!

What's your repotting process?! I am also so nosy wanting to know how others do things :P The dirt is a staple in my morning coffee at this point! Haha
She didn't do it correctly either, definitely turn plants upside down and don't squeeze and break their roots
Orange9001 everybody does it differently. i’ve always been told to break up the roots and have never had a problem.
I never done this before and I have an orange plant I need to move. Very helpful, thanks.

This was really helpful. Thank you!!
Thank you for this video. Just getting into planting for the first time
Loved the video and it was very helpful since I have gone back to keeping plants in my apartment. Thank you
Could you do a video on repotting older plants to highlight the differences perhaps in repotting new plants.

I totally learned a few tips here. Thank you for the tips! 😁
Yay! I'm so happy to hear that. Thank you Sarah!
Great video and explained very well. Love these and all houseplants. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Kathy! You are always so nice!
The monstera looks great in its new pot :) I just had to repot mine they grow so fast :)
They do grow so fast! It's so fun to see how much they have grown when repotting as well!
I really like your style! Thanks for this :) as spring is coming soon, this video is super useful! Sending a big hug to you :)!

Does the new pot need a drainage hole or no? I’m about to repot my Monstera. Thank you in advance🤗
I’m not an expert but I have a feeling there’s no drain hole on this because it’s a terra cotta material which drains water naturally
New to houseplants here🙋🏽♀️ do you place anything underneath for the drainage if it’s indoors?
