I am so gorging on this series when I should be doing homework...this girl just gave me whiplash, literally with the Guinuwine love. Seriously, she went up a couple of cool points by the total randomness and non-snobbiness ; )
She is gorgeous. And without an inch of makeup. I'm surprised at her knowledge of African music tho. I'm black and a drummer and studied it for a while a was very overwhelmed by the amount of information. She understands the secrets of African music. So she will always make great music. The only problem now is where can i see her to ask her to marry me? Cause she's a hot plain Jane. I love that.
She lived and studied in Africa herself for awhile as well. She might have been back since whokill too. It's more of a passion of hers than just a creative influence.
Yes i listen to it often. Do you feel like she has a british accent when she sings? I always thought it was tribal sounding because of its power but i didnt think she to this much of it as you can hear other influences aswell
Of course. I didn't mean to say that it wasn't an influence on her music. I just meant the country was more of an all-inclusive passion of hers, not just the music. She's studied, among other things, Kreyol (a language spoken in Haiti) and Voodou. "Influence" doesn't necessarily imply that sort of involvement. I was basically just arguing over semantics. :)
Remember in Mean Girls, when Lindsey Lohands mom (played by Ana G from SNL) was upset because Lindsey wanted to back out of the Lady Smith Black Mambanzo concert? Haha...
what i get from this series is that in order for me to be a semi successful musician I need to listen to music from around the world. Ive tried to and it sucks.
she's so chill and down to earth. awesome.
The alternative to alternative

Damn Merill giving mad love to African musical roots. I love it ! They have beautiful music !
2:31 how she hits the right key for 'danger danger' .. nice! perfect pitch?
more common than one thinks
I was really blown away by that.
I noticed that as well. It was dead on.
Merrill is the shiznit! Great taste all around.

Except for her hairy lip. That ruined it for me.
Great taste..you definitely see the influence in their music. Now, I'm going to listen to Pony. Cheers
I fucking love her!
Really diggin more african style music after watching this
Finally somebody worth watching.
Really interesting music choices and mostly vinyl too ;)
She looks like she can be related to the actor who plays "Jim" form the TV show "The Office." If he has a sister, she would look like her.
She's so cool and sweet just like southern iced tea👍

She went to Haiti recently and learned there drumming styles and danced with the people surely that would be an influence on her music?
My, her voice: Special. It's rhythmic and melodic, which is rare. She sounds like Roberta Flack, with that thick, high pitched bottom and soaring top.
Yes i listen to it often. Do you feel like she has a british accent when she sings? I always thought it was tribal sounding because of its power but i didnt think she to this much of it as you can hear other influences aswell
I would totally hang out with Garbus.
The albums she showed made a lot of sense for her, BUT she completely had me when she whipped out the Genuiwine (IDK how he spells it).
Ginuwine
So happy she’s making music
Jean Claude Vannier is beautiful, nice to see it in her collection.
Do you know what video that clip was from?
@@ChicoCabra hadn't seen it b4, but it seems its from a collaboration he did for YSL. Just look up Jean-Claude Vannier for Yves St Laurent.
@@saIvete Amazing! Thanks for answering, I'll check it out.
I appreciate your knowledge about her! Enjoyable Semantics argument
