    I still prefer the feeling a joystick gives me, infact I was playing with mouse first, and then I remembered I had a joystick somewhere. When I tried it, I fell in love with the feeling it gave me, I did not care that I got less kills, I just feel better.

    I really hate flying games that are optimized around a mouse. IMO, it's not in the least immersive. I hardly fly at all in WT because it's also optimized around a mouse. If the joystick support was at least AS GOOD as mouse, I could see that. But in both games, unless you're a unicum player, the mouse wins all the time. So I'll pass on WoWP.

      I tried getting into WT a couple of years ago for the air battles, used my joystick and had these exact issues. You play much better with a mouse, but there's no immersion and it's less fun.

      Real planes schould be oprimized for mouse and keyboard too.

      Yup, if I wanted to play a mouse witch shooter I'd load up CoD. If we're in planes then I want a frigin Joystick to at least be competitive. Otherwise NO SALE.

    You have a point, but I find it more fun to play with a joystick (tried it both ways). I will say this though, if you want to use a joystick make sure you use one with a twist axis to control the rudder. If you don't have rudder control, aiming is almost impossible. With rudder control, it may not be as easy to aim as with a mouse, but it's close enough that if you like flying with a stick it can work quite well.

    Been playing flight sims a LONG time. Since Wing (and Strike) Commander, Falcon 3.0, and even X-wing. Been playing online since some random multiplayer flight sim on Linux PC in advanced programming in 1998 and X-wing Vs Tie Fighter. Your review is absolutely necessary. I see players pulling off "evasive maneuvers" like the wotan weave aka starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Corkscrew_Avoid in this game. It worked in the original X-wing because of the speed of the projectiles AND the limitations of a computer. MOST Humans (even drunk) aren't that stupid. Don't get me wrong "I'll hit the breaks and they'll fly right by" and "if I lower my speed while turning i can make a tighter turn" DO work. You can make the biplanes do some crazy shit which is incredible for racking up a high score at low levels. I mean being able to do an OLD school WW I Immelmann turn (compared to the modern Immelmann or roll-off-the-top) REALLY screws with people because YOUR plane isn't performing how they would expect a plane to perform. Most people seem to come in for a simple game of "point my plane at a target and pull the trigger". This game is no where near that simple even though you can do well basically following that tactic and choosing your targets well.

    I've been using my Eclipse yoke that I use with my flight sim. I was not enjoying the game at all. Switched to the mouse based on your recommendation. You are absolutely right. It made a huge difference. Thanks.

    I just unplugged mine and used the mouse and keyboard option, on your suggestion Zoup, and holy heck it felt so much easier and so much more comfortable. Thanks for the tip.

    I have to disagree, at least to a point. While yes you do generally have better view, and it may make it easier to aim, it’s not cut-and-dry. I’ve played with mouse & I’ve played with joystick, and I can make top three with both, if not top of the team. Better view doesn’t replace good situational awareness & map awareness. You have better control over your aircraft, which may sound meh, especially given Zoup’s comment on exactly that, however if you learn to aim with the joystick, you have that much more control and are able to stick to your target that much better. You also have better “feel” for your aircraft’s maneuverability.
    Don’t get me wrong, nothing against mouse & keyboard. I think it comes down to more skill & what you are most comfortable with. If you’re better with mouse, great. If you’re better with joystick, also great. Neither are really worse than the other, there’s just more of a learning curve with joysticks compared to flying with a mouse.
    On that note, Zoup; I noticed you hardly used your plane’s rudder in a turn, if at all when you used the joystick. If you use the elevators AND rudder in a turn, it makes a huge difference. Also a general thing, when you were flying what I assume was the F4U-1 Corsair, you held down on the 20mil’s. If you burst-fire them, they won’t overheat as much, allowing you to put that much more fire into your target.

    I like the game but they need to improve the CPU utilization.
    The game uses barely 30-40% of my CPU and only about 80% of my GPU which means my FPS hovers around 40fps. It’s playable but not good at all.

    Joystick and throttle is best (X56) Logitech it has all you need...you can still lock the enemy and see it once passed you..I got my one throttle button program for it.. also all buttons are easy to get with joystick or throttle. also I do not use the sniper mode.. I get 20 to 30 kills on every battle

  • @MaartenNieuwhuis
    @MaartenNieuwhuis 6 лет назад

    I actually did a comparison and joystick works better and yes sure aiming is good on kb&m but aiming does not help if you get chased the plane control has more effect than aim control and also every normal price joystick nowadays has a mini joystick for the thumb so u you can look around. So i say to you redo this comparison with another joystick that incorporates the thumbstick and i would like to hear the verdict you have.

  • @DaxRaider
    @DaxRaider 7 лет назад +3

    thats exactly the thing here
    mouse is better at ANYTHING when it comes to ANY shooting game, its superior in ANY case over every other controler because u can super close aim
    gaming isnt the reality wherte there is more to a game then aiming, but as far as computergames go, mouse is superior to everything when it comes to aiming and shooting.

    • @Elven_Red
      @Elven_Red 7 лет назад +3

      Well kinda, this has more to do with the design decision applied for this game. With mouse here, your plane is given some sort of "auto-pilot" in that it will do all the most efficient maneuver to get itself pointed at the direction you are centered at - different from the joystick, where you are supposed to do these maneuvers yourself. If you were to actually control the aircraft with the mouse, it would be a piece of crap - see battlefield 3 and 4

    • @eebarreto

      disagreed there more control with with joystick and throttle like X56 Logitech also functions a lot easy to access than mouse and keyboard

    if it's a game of modern jet fighter that firing homing missile, joystick is obviously better.
    but for aiming and gun play, mouse is the best

    Will have to play around with this as just starting on WoWP. I play WoT and WoW mainly, but decided to add this as well and looking at using my old Suncom Joystick that is pretty much on par with the old style Thrustmaster. It is programmable as a keyboard for additional switches and hats so wonder if the use of hat switch may help bridge the difference between flight control with joystick and target acquisition with a mouse.
    If anyone has already tried this I would be interested in their thoughts. I have yet to buy the 15pin game port to USB adapter but will buy it no matter what the result for this game as I have just bought FSX so need joystick for that at least if not later a yoke setup.

    hmm. been playing with a flight controller and doing pretty good. after watching this I'm going to use a software to manually map my controller to the keyboard/mouse defaults, see how that goes. maybe it will give me the best of both worlds, maybe it will suck

  • @YTPartyTonight
    @YTPartyTonight 4 года назад

    What if we could have the best of both combined? What I'm wondering about now is the possibility of using a Wooting analog keyboard (wooting.io/wootingtwo) with a mouse for Warships, Warplanes or Tanks.
    The switches don't merely function in a binary, on or off mode like the switches on typical mech keyboards do. Instead, the key switches on the Wooting can see how far you press down for analog input. Similar to how a joystick on a controller works, you can gradually control the amount of input.

    This is why you play Warthunder or WoWP AND DCS. If you like flying, DCS or X-Plane are must haves. This game won't fill that need :/ It's gorgeous and fun though.

    I don't understand what you mean when you say it's not optimized for aiming, I've literally never played before tonight and I'm downing everyone I lm tailing. I'm using a logitech extreme 3D pro, I'm in low tiers but i can just constantly hit everything I aim at and people I know are using a mouse and keyboard can't tail me for shit. I'll try mouse n keyboard out but I think that you might need to calibrate your stick

    I'll challenge you to a mouse v joystick.
    The joystick will win plane for plane every time.
    You just need to know how to use a joystick.
    I finish top plane at least 5k points above any human.
    I have yet to meet a mouse player beat my joystick (unless I'm jumped on why I'm engaged in a fight like normal).
    Guys he is telling you to use a mouse the thrustmaster t.16000m is the only way to play this game.
    Check out some of my games vids all played on a joystick.

    This game will NEVER become a major hit so long as it gives advantage to a mouse. I can barely stomach this game because of the mouse players. What a sad choice by Wargaming. World of tanks should also be joystick. The concept of using a mouse for simulation is a joke. Imagine WOT ran by a throttle and joystick combo, even rudder pedals for the track controls! How fun! Optimize it for that, let the mouse be for the rest and find a way to punish mouse play so that it is never "better" in stats. This could mean camera angle cheating, making the mouse less accurate, slower etc. Whatever it takes to level the playing field so that immersive players have the same shot. This will help to commit players long term when they invest and build out their home gaming joystick setups etc. It's a smart move folks. Flight simulator figured that out long ago.
