Very true honestly like Luka is in a lot of discussion but he doesn't come close to Jokic on defense and still has a ways to go with his shot selection. Like that 3 pointer he took down the stretch against Denver was a crazy shot especially considering how shot Kyrie was in that game 😂

As someone who has been able to watch Jok in person for most of his career it's even more impressive that what can be shown on TV. He's dangerous from anywhere on the court as his biggest asset is his hoops IQ. He really sees most plays before they happen, as attested by Ant and Gobert in the first game vs Minny. He makes everyone who plays with him the best version of themself on court.

Embiid's entire "legacy" is AND always will be made up of 2 or 3 things:
      1) Being made of glass, cuz he's always broken n missing absurd amounts of games. Rarely there when his team & his city need him the most.
      2) Forever refusing to take ANY accountability... and instead, he PUBLICLY throws his teammates & coaches under the bus. That's NOT & never will be an attribute of being a TRUE leader!
      3) LOTS & LOTS of crying, complaining, & LITERAL campaigning to get his own tainted MVP trophy that he didn't deserve.
...I dunno- maybe its just me, but I would NEVER EVER want my "MVP season" to have an asterisk next to it in the history books. Waaaay too many people will always think/know that he truly didn't deserve it & shouldn't have gotten it. Instead... we ALL had the misfortune of watching him cry & then get his ESPN talking heads to create false narratives & bait a race war just to help EmB*tch get his trophy

C'mon now. The league almost never awards a ton in a row. You don't think Jordan could not have won it every year from 86-87 to 97-98 except his "sabbatical" years? That's 10. He led the league in scoring and advanced stats each of those years. He won only 5 because the league needs to spread it around to give credit to other great players and keep the fans interested.

People often calls Jokic a "bad" defender because, individually speaking, Jokic is not your typical rim protector. However, there's a big reason why Denver's defense is at its strongest when he's on the floor. The things Jokic lacks individually, he makes up for by leading his team on defense and putting them exactly where they need them. That recent press interview with Ant and Gobert being baffled about how Jokic knew their play when no one else even opened their mouth about it is testament to Jokic overall understanding of the game. If anything, the times where Jokic don't jump to block a shot are shots that he had no way of stopping anyway. He'd rather let the shot go, prepare for a rebound if it misses and immediately make a play on the other end over risking an unnecessary foul.

    • @NUFCOfficial
      @NUFCOfficial Месяц назад +9

He's just so damn efficient, there is no point in the modern NBA to be a rim protector as the refs are soft. He makes their shot as difficult as possible then gets the rebound, no point in going up with anybody as 99% of the time they either get a 3 point play or 2 free throws.

Any honest, sane basketball fan knows that Joker is the best basketball player in the world and not only that probably the best player in the last 10 years. If he keeps this up and racks up a couple more rings he will be top 5 of all time. In my very, very humble opinion if he wasn't loyal to Denver he could pull a Lebron and switch to another team creating a super team. This year should be his 5th MVP in a row but because the NBA media is blatantly racist Embiid stole a trophy from Joker. What we are seeing we have never seen before. His efficiency metrics are historically unmatched and he makes his team better in a way that no player ever has. The funny thing is the arguments people use for Lebron being the GOAT actually create a better argument for Joker. If Joker keeps this up for another two to three years he will have as much of an argument for GOAT as Lebron because according to a decent amount of NBA fans rings just dont matter.

It is not a matter of whether or not he can jump high, but whether it is necessary and necessary for him to jump high. The only reason for such jumps, when it comes to him, would be attractiveness. High jumps stress the musculoskeletal system, thereby risking injuries, shortening the ability to spend more time on the field effectively, and overall shortening the player's career. Overall, weg's style of play is not attractive and at first glance it seems very simple, but those who know basketball well know that none of it is simple or easy.

@@ziginaigra It's not just about the one arm throw, you are missing the 3 dimensional timing and precision. In water polo it's much more 2 dimensional and horizontal movements are much slower because of swimming. You're really just not seeing how special this pass is. He's also making the timing of the pass perfect so that it is harder for defenders to be in the right position. You'll see others do similar passes, but the timing/height/speed/deception are not all correct and defenders will collapse and not allow an easy basket.

At the moment he's at 29.7 points, 13.7 rebounds and 11.7 assists (virtually 30/14/12), respectively 4th, 1st and 1st in the league, on 56/56/84 splits for almost 67% TS (second best all time after MVP Curry). Yeah, the start was rough (expected, with several new pieces and new roles for old pieces), but AG was playing very well before the injury, Watson is finally also getting better integrated since losing a lot of the training camp and pre-season with an injury as well - CB is a beast, making up for the loss of KCP and more, Strawther has also improved. Jokic is arguably on the highest-performing 5-season run in league history. He doesn’t have the rings of other players in the running, but he’s phenomenal in the games he’s had access to, definitely not his fault for only getting one chip.
MJ played more games in the regular season so he’s still the king of VORP, but Jokic’s average performance is even better than MJ’s peak.
Strictly in terms of peak individual performance, the goats are MJ, Bron, Wilt, and Jokic, and I don’t even know what order to put them in.

He's not doing something the nba has never seen before. There are plenty of big men who have displayed elite passing along with scoring and defending skills. The difference is that he's doing it in an era where he can take advantage of the rules to average a triple double every night. He's absolutely stellar and deserves his MVPs. Other players haven't been able to exploit the current rules and play style as he has so credit his talent and acumen for that. But it's a stretch to say that his talents are unique to now

Dude is an engima. When a player of that size manages to become virtually invisible and manages to sneak away over and over again it is simply amazing.
And i mean how are you supposed to defend him? He uses his physique very cleverly and has top notch technical skills on top of that mountain of a body.
If you take him on the physical side, he will pull a lot of fouls, if you dont, you have to double him and then he creates space for his teammates, if you dont double him, he scores^^.
And on the defense he has these telescope arms and high level game reading abbilities rooted in a profound understanding of the game.
I can only imagine what a nightmare he must be to play against.

Basketball is a team sport. Wilt played with smurfs early in his career with the Warriors, and they were no match for opponents with complete rosters. When he played on a complete roster, they won the division by 7 games over the team that had won the year before and had improved on their earlier record. That team was voted the greatest NBA team ever.
