I appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. With that said it is so important to use a specific genre when comparing any type of speakers especially high decibels. You do not need to be a classical music lover to appreciate the sound quality a speaker can produce but it is essential to play classical music when testing a speaker. The reason being when an orchestra plays the dynamic range of sound frequency is maximized. So many different instruments playing simultaneously in perfect harmony lets you really hear what a speaker can do. Thank you for your review.
After listening and analyze both speakers. I assume your speaker placement effect the loudness. With position as you place for both. The Clip 4 speaker nearer to the mic rather than SONY. SRS-XB100 driver up firing and it further compared to Clip 4 driver, measure from your mic placement. I think this effect why SONY sound not as loud as Clip 4. And that's why the bass punch deeper on the SRS-XB100, because your mic below the driver and near the passive radiator position. SRS-XB100 listening position is from above, directly where the driver is. And I think if you re-place the mic from above, the result would be different. Both are good speaker and Legendary Brand. Each has their pro and minus. But, thanks a lot for your easy comparison.
I bought the xb 13 and the max volume is not very loud, I herd the xb100 is about 2 times as loud so ..I am going to buy the xb100 and give the xb13 to a friend...I use it on my bicycle and with the holes in the bottom i strap it on my bike easy 🚲👍
Thank you. I was concerned by the Sony speaker being 5W. Now if you can pair them to get stereo and because there is a discount right now, I'll buy 2. As for the sound test they sound a bit different indeed but feature wise Sony's product is crushing it. The difference in sound does not justify going JBL to me. I'm a Sony fan, but I found this JBL is better in sound quality. JBL is crispy clear except that I like Sony's bass better. BTW, thanks for comparing these side by side with one of them dimmed. It makes it a lot easier to see which speaker is playing.

The JBL certainly sounds louder, clearer and energetic at the expense of punchy bass. The Sony sounded muffled and shallow but with the benefit of more punchy bass. The JBL has to be flat on a surface, it cannot stand upright. The song can be vertical or horizontal. The Sony is also more compact and easier to hold in one hand.
That’s what I’ve found out, I bought both and I’m using them on a slight different scenario note that I’m living on a very small apartment, loudness of both are enough for me
I agree. The true test is jazz, classical, and country. Drums, violins, and keys expose crunchiness in an unbalanced sound signature. Sony can handle those genres out the box with no tweaking due to it's flat and balanced eq. I of course tweak it anyways, because I listen to all kinds of genres.
2 totally different styles of speakers and usecases that really shouldnt be directly compared outside of pricepoint and portability. Its amazing how much you get out of the clips considering its design. Its my go to for disk golf or kayaking because it clips directly to my gunwhale. Funny enough the sony xb was my go to for several year yakking because it perfectly locked itself into my yaks cup holder dead center of the front. Loud asf and because its a boom tube it turned the foot cabin into a sub port making the bass much stronger... Sadly a buddy of mine caused its watery demise and meow i only use a clip that doesnt leave its spot until im done yakking no matter what.

The JBL sounds louder cause the highs are much brighter..if I had to choose I'll take the Sony for having a mic,more bass,price and better battery..but then again the JBL clip 5 is about to be released which have me waiting for a comparison video..
I am not really sure if JBL sound is more original or more colored. As I compared my JBL Go4 with JVC UX9000 (3.5inch FR). Go4 sounds significantly brighter than JVC. But I like JBL sound.
Looking for a good small speaker for my apartment. Been researching small affordable bluetooth speakers & Sony sounds like the one I'd go with budget wise too.
I would spend an extra $50 and get the Sony ULT Field 1when it goes on sale for $98, because its the best sub $100 speaker out right now. The sound diffusion technology will work perfectly to fill your apartment with clean and clear audio. The JBL flip 5 would be my second choice though for the sub $100 range.
the Sony sound is typical of Sony big speakers because the sound doesn't change even though the place is small... different from the JBL clip 4, the sound is like a small speaker following the small place
Very comprehensive review! Just bought one today. It definitely has better material quality imo. I had the JBL clip 4 for a couple of years and I have used it while cycling, hikes, showering, etc and I like how it sounds. However, the rubber strips at the bottom peels off in time given the fact that I am very careful with my tech devices. They just easily comes apart. Had to glue them back and still looks like a mess. I just hope the sony chargers quicker since the input for jbl is 5v 1A while the sony has 5V 0.5A. Any of you guys have some experience with charging the XB100? How long does it take normally?

Bullshit Sony sounds more balanced between all frequencies where jbl trying to artificially booting upper regions where sound and vocals are too bright. And the bass and lower mids just falls behind and no balance between highs mids and low. Sony sounds little less loud but all frequencies are well controlled and balanced between each other and also gives more natural true to life presentation.

definitely you missed some things, which Bluetooth connection they have, of course we can see in the specs but is a basic information, and you did not put the percentage of volume in the tests, like how we can have a good perspective for what volume is playing... anyway you always bring good comparisons. thanks.

Jbl is overpriced, sound is clear but i have to have the volume all the way up indoors to hear this thing and the bass sounds like crap. I paid $30 for the clip 4 and still am disappointed with the sound. For $60 bucks i'd get an earfun uboom which would blow all these away and i would just deal with it being bigger. Reply

JBL Clip 04 é melhor para uso externo (05 watts RMS) e Sony XB100 ( 02 watts RMS ) é melhor em ambientes internos, tenho as duas.
