I had this record when I was a kid. I thought it was hilarious and I played it so many times I wore it out. My friends didn't get it though and thought I was kinda "strange" listening to this. But I loved it! RIP Stan! You made our journey through this life a little easier and a lot more humorous!

What you are listening to is the 11th take... they blew the first ten because the musicians, who were the same Hollywood studio cats who worked on the real Dragnet radio show, hadn't seen the script before the session and were laughing so hard they couldn't pucker up to blow their trumpets.

These sketches are appreciable even more if one “gets” Dragnet and cop dramas in general. I looked up dumdum shells and despite the innocuous name they’re gruesome bullets. A variation of dumdum shells is hollow point bullets; in the movie MAGNUM FORCE the use of hollow point bullets to beat ballistics tracing is a crucial plot point

RIP Stan Freberg: "This is the woods. My name is Wednesday, I work out of homicide. Monday, February the second, 10:22 am: I bumped into Chicken Licken; told me the sky was fallin'. I booked her on a 614. Turned her over to the psychiatrist. Then, a call came in on a 503. When I was on my way to the 503, a 618 came in; I added up the 614, the 503 and the 618, got 1,735. I handed in my paper to the Chief, he corrected it, gave me 100%, patted me on the head, told me I was a good cop."

While Lawrence Welk wasn't appreciative of Stan poking fun of him on "Wun'nerful, Wun'nerful", Jack Webb actually loved the "Dragnet" take offs, and had a real sense of humor about Stan's parodies, despite the stiff and straight TV personality Jack had. That's because she 'is' Tweety's Dwanny (Granny).
June Foray had a long career as a voice actress, in radio shows, advertisements, cartoons, records, even talking toys.
I've long been a fan of this lovely lady. Sadly, we lost her in 2017, just before her 100th birthday.
I remember her from old radio shows, records, and commercials, and as the voice of Witch Hazel (for Disney, and for Warner Bros.), Granny, Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Natasha Fatale, Nell (Dudley Doright's girlfriend), Ursula (George of the Jungle's girlfriend), Cindy Lou Who (the little Who girl who asks the Grinch, dressed as Santa, why he is taking their Christmas tree), Knothead and Splinter (Woody Woodpecker's nephew and niece), Chatty Cathy (Mattel's talking doll), Talky Tina (the evil doll in Twilight Zone episode 'Living Doll'), the Grandmother in 'Mulan', Magica (DuckTales). You can also hear Miss Foray in video games and tv show voiceovers.
RIP, gentle Soul, and thank you for the magic and memories.

They had a hard time recording this, since the Dragnet musicians kept breaking out into laughter.

That was true for all of the "Dragnet" spoofs. Even Jack Webb thought that the spoofs were terrific.

Not the St.George parody, still funny.I once came up with my own version of Little Red Riding Hood,a McCarthyistic version where she was a Communist spy,& the wolf turnther in I should have written it down.

I don't know if Little Blue Riding Hood was as big a hit as St. George and the Dragonet, but our local radio stations played the heck outta both routines, much to our delight.

No, you played the file; HE played the hunch.
Didn't Lon Chaney play the Hunch? (Back of Notre Dame?) Quasimodo as Touchdown Jesus!

I thought Tom Hulce played The Hunch! You know-The Disney Hunch? In ‘85 he played The Mozart too!
