Crimson armor is such a good armor set. It’s really amazing to me how much of a discrepancy there is between it and shadow armor. Like, on one hand you have a mediocre melee set that gets immediately outclassed by molten armor, and on the other you have _the highest passive regeneration in the entire game._
I would do something like that, but in the heat of battle I just don't remember. It's like the old Charm of Myths trick: it's a great idea, but I never do it because I can't remember it in the heat of battle.
I think the regen setup is viable in expert mode as long as you optimize defense as well. I was able to tank expert plantera using turtle armor, a lot of regen and buffs, and the sergeant united shield
I feel like the harpoon and the anchor deserve a video, one time when I was doing a goblin invasion and decided to actually use the harpoon during it, only to find out that, as long as you don't miss, the harpoon excels at crowd control at close range due to its fire rate and knockback.

regen is a good supplement to any build. as someone who dodges attacks by hand and usually doesnt go very defensive at all, a single band of regen and some buffs can turn what would be a bloodbath into something safe and stress free

the point is im so unlucky i was fighting DoG on calamity and when the boss was going to my ass (i was falling on the blue sky) it stopped right at my face (i hit the ground) and INSTANTLY the sky became purple
fun fact you can get regen higher temporarily if you got autpause on use crimson as your social(layered, transmog ect.) set, equipped palladium hit an enemy then quickly swap to crimson the buffs stack and its ridiculous. and have a friend with nebula armor
I think a lot of the cheese against moonlord was put to an end after the update that allows his head beam to phase through blocks. Before that this set-up was valid for expert mode
How do you feel when sitting in the Chippy's couch? Also, don't forget about palladium armor set, it greatly increases the life regeneration to the player. Greatly paired with defensive modifiers in accessories. Although, even players needs regeneration, they still need to be tanky. Regeneration alone will not help. But, if you're a summoner class, regeneration is needed, since that specific class has less defense and they only need to dodge while attacking. That's all...
My fav 'build' is the 'get the best i-frame items in calamity, slap them on, get the best summons and a whip and gun down event bosses while standing still, getting i-frames for days while dealing crazy deeps and when bosses die you get healed' build. Did this yesterday on the post DoG moons. i was immortal.
Regen shmegen. Use those slime statues you showed at the beginning. Hook them up to a training dummy on a teleporter inside of a small box and put 1 crow summon in there with it. Leads to extremely rapid kills spawning regen stars and hearts as fast as you can use them. Just gotta make sure to pick them all up because a limited number can be spawned in a world at once
I use regen in tandem with dodge chance or mobility accessories. It works by rewarding me with actually moving out of the way of projectiles, while also giving me some leg room should I end up getting hit by something I didn’t know about or wasn’t paying attention to
Considering how late game this is (post-golem expert mode) I think the regeneration will not be good enough to face late game mobs, especially since you need to stay still for it to work properly.
I did a mobility-dodge setup for all of master hard mode right up til moonlord. It wasnt enough to deal with him, since a single mistake would kill me. I then switched to an I-frame build and abused the moonlord hand contact damage, which is a lot lower than his attacks.
Equip shiny stone all the time with melee build can keep you always above 75% health during Master mode Moonlord fight. You can accidentally tank one or two deathrays lol.
Watch gungir's video. the Valhalla knight chest plate and helmet give more life regeneration than that. Even palladium armor would be a better choice due to its higher defense.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I remeber nerfing the band of regen paired with charm of myths to not stack anymore. This also applies to the celestial stone family of items.

Not too good, but i like your way of thinking. A proper stress test at a reasonable point in game and not end game. band of regen doesn't even stack with charm of myth, shiny stone and celestial shell requires golem, the celestial stone needs eclipse. There's not much success to be had, but you still can mix it with max dodge chance, damage reduction and defense for the optimal tank build. These are more forgiving and can be obtained earlier, becoming a somewhat viable strategy in an actual run
This never happens and standing still usually means being dead in a second, so it's hard to even get a proper use out of shiny stone without a proper setup
It is as you said regen is not worth it in expert or master mode, but i dont see it's worth in normal mode either, because its better that you learn the bosses' pattern to get better and help with future runs. Getting better at dodging, better weapons, and built proper arenas is enough to get you through all bosses All my arenas are just 1-4 layers of 200tiles wide platforms with 12-15 tiles gap in the between, that alone was enough for all bosses.
I mean there's a lot of build meta, but if you just want to beat the game on any difficulty, just completely ignore any "meta" or "build" focus entirely. 1. Obtain a strong summon weapon. You don't need to be specced into summoner, its just free damage. 2. In the same vein, a Nimbus Rod summoned at the start of any planned fight is just free sustained DPS. Free damage out of the way, what's the best way to just safely beat the game? Beetle Armor + Bullets. Its as simple as that. Progress to the strongest range weapon you can and conversely follow the melee armor progression. You're super tanky and are doing decent sustained damage from ranged. Combine that with the Philosopher's Stone and you got a nice way to kill bosses while truly learning the patterns.
Although this can be hilariously busted, max dodge will always win over any defensive stat imo

The 'previous' is still arguably the best since the extra defence is insane. You don't need to regen that much if you take that much less dmg.

Dodging will always be better than anything as if your lucky enough you can never take damage

I'm glad that it became possible to have a 3 set build, because you don't have to take up 9 inventory slots to quickly heal in an emergency

Crimson Armor has low defense, I think it is better to sacrifice regeneration to use beetle armor (use beetle shell)

Stinger necklace is a total bonus, u get jit but also get doused in honey
regen is somewhat limited in that it's rate scales down based on how much health you have lost rather than just linearly
you can also throw a crystal heart, food item, and other related items into shimmer which will give permanent buffs

crimson has better life regen when you have 600 health
nebula fragments that drop when using nebula armor also heal hp
High regen combo'd with mobility is best because you'll heal up quickly from the occasional hit, not all of us are pros at dodging attacks after all
And remember, the best form of damage mitigation to exist is, was and always will be, killing the other guy.

You've only used 4 accessory slots. Throw in a cross necklace and you can do a LOT more work.
Add a Campfire, Heart lantern and an Activated Valentine's Ring will make the Pre-Hardmode go as smoothly as walking
