hello friends!! 💌 i hope this mindset helps you study smarter, not harder. It's so so important to take meaningful breaks and fill up your cup so that you can keep pouring it into academic projects. I hope life is treating you well atm. You've got this!! 👏 (also you definitely don't need to study 10 hours a day to succeed and I don't do this every day! the idea is that the mindset of your "Attention Budget" promotes such sustainable productivity that you could easily study for that long
Have you seen Dustin Luke videos and how he ended up speaking like an Argie after meeting some local boys during a trip to Spain? He got mad about it and became one of them/us!
Jade, I found you this last friday at rosedal de palermo. I realize you want me to speak spanish... recién me doy cuenta que preferías hablar en español jaja. ¿te puedo ofrecer pasear por la ciudad en moto? Hello! I’m the last year student. Your videos are so cool❤ I was working from early morning, so I will spend a lot of time at work. "Attention budget" is a good idea to start spend my time in productive way.
Summary: Plan your day in advance. Set out a time for deep focus (where you avoid social media) Try interleaving (reaching out for that concept, recalling it after a different task, will hammer it into your brain) Meditation and exercise refill your attention budget Plan low-focus activities for later in the day Sanctity of space Meaningful breaks (that re-energise you) *Always* remember that you are enough. (thanks for this Jade
@A Passing Ship just wait until you're in University. Free time, quite literally, is not a thing anymore. It's important to take short breaks, especially breaks that will completely re-energize you instead of making you dull and lazy such as scrolling through social media
Hi, final year university student here. You do not need to be studying 10+ hours per day. Especially if you work or have other responsibilities. Expecting this is setting yourself up for failure. Be kind and gentle with yourself.
Same for me. When I try to study 10+ a day, theres me in the next day feeling miserable and not wanting to get off the bed. But some greedy part of my mind keeps wanting me to do that over and over maybe bc our teachers advice us less than 10 is not enough
She's not saying you should. She's saying you should be aware of what you have the energy for and what you're spending your energy on. She's been able to study for that long. Doesn't mean we all can. The advice is still good - if you know what you're wasting your energy on, you can divert your available energy to more productive tasks.
Wow, this is literally what I needed right now. I love studying, but I find myself losing focus so easily sometimes. Like, one day I'm studying 8 hours without any problem, but some other day I can bearly sit through 2 hours of study
@Manuel it can be, if you keep doing that without breaks. I’ve seen many of my university friends burn out to the point of mental breakdown by studying 8-12 hours a day.
@Manuel I'd say it sounds like you're doing really well. Even 6 hours for an 'off day' is very impressive and I'm sure you're making steady progress. And even if on the surface your friends are working consistently 8-12hrs, there's no point comparing yourself to them as I think many people struggle behind the scenes and we rarely get the full picture of someone's life and work habits. I suppose there will always be that person who does actually manage to breeze through, but that's very rare I think.
I loved how you mentioned neurodivergence and how that can affect people's ability to focus. I am autistic and possibly have ADHD so I know that my brain works in a different way from neurotypical people, and that's ok, I just have to learn how to work for my own brain. I really loved this idea of attention budget and I think I will input it more in to my own life.
At 6:30 I had to stop for a moment and think about it. My studies shouldn't be about meeting the expectations of getting a good grade or getting a diploma, it should be about the joy of learning new things. I tend to forget that, thank you for the reminder !!
I was just feeling very low because Christmas is coming and money is very tight right now. But your videos really cheer me up Jade. Thank you from the bottom of my heart:)
I think Christmas is wonderful cuz all the streets are decorated and lit up with beautiful lights and you can just walk and enjoy them for free :) I love Christmas lights everywhere
Hi Jade, I'm a year 11 student and I think this video really helped me Because all of us are different and the "productivity" side of RUclips was making me feel like if I didn't do 10 hours a day and got all 9s first try then I was worthless. And that I always need to find a way to improve myself and be ashamed of being average regardless of what I'm satisfied with. I need to start focusing on myself as a person and not only as a student trying to get the highest grade possible. I just really wanted to say thank you, Jade
1. Plan your study days in advance 2. start your day with mindfullness (yoga, meditation) 3. plan with deep focus in mind (admin tasks later in the day) 4. optimize workplace (alone in morning during deep focus, study together in afternonon during low effort tasks) 5. no social media during deep focus (usually morning) 6. do not feel guilty or stressed during studying, it should not be a meassure for your self-worth -> focus on joy and gratitude for study process 7. study environment; just for studying 8. take breaks during studying -> keep doing things that make you happy and energized (you can take breaks while studying one subject it is a phenomenon that helps) 9. realise that everyone is different, and everyone has their own unique way of studying :)
Agree , I think it works only like the week before the exam , when you're in a rush trying to cram everything that's left to study and can't afford to lose attention, but besides that and on the long run , 10 hours a day goes against everything this community has been advocating for against the "toxic productivity" scheme , and harms before it helps .
When I'm depressed without knowing what to do, I listen to you and it makes me want to do something, to go for a walk, for a walk... you lift my spirits.
it was so special to hear about neurodivergence included in this. i struggle with ADD, and find it so hard to get motivated and stay sustained on a certain activity if I'm not enjoying it :)
I have been feeling so bad that it takes me around half an hour to an hour to become really focused, it felt nice to hear that half an hour is actually a good time
Hi Jade! I'm currently struggling with the thing u mentioned in the video: attaching your worth to the amount of work u get done and success u achieve. Can u make a video or comment on how u detached yourself from that? It would help tremendously. Sending all the love
Unless u didnt study the entire year and ur cramming, it’s completely unnecessary to study 10 hours a day. 4hrs is mire than enough, you could even do less if u study efficiently.
Thank you sooo much, Jade! I needed that :) I'm a uni student (in the UK) studying the first year of my degree. I'm finding it really difficult to concentrate and I waste my energy so often. I really want to change this! Your practical advice is so clear and helpful. Thank you for taking the time to film this video :) Love Kate xx
"and it's not just for a piece of paper..." this is the mindset i have been striving towards over the years, and i realize that studying can also be fun! unpopular opinion, but the process matters more than the results🤩
Love what you say about being different since it's true, sometimes we want to follow these "productive" routines or habits which could actually turn out to be counterproductive for some of us 😃
Sos una genia! 💖I just want to point out that a lot of the advice you've given is what my psychologist has taught me to do. I have ADHD and was only diagnosed a year ago. I used tostrugle at uni, my grades were way too low, now after a whole year of cognitive therapy for ADHD, not only my academic life has improved, but my life is much easier as well. 🙌 💖 You are making value content and that something to appreciate
Thank you, Jade for sharing your amazing thoughts❤ sometimes we get lost worring about all the tasks, keep working and be tough in ourselves ending up by procrastinating at the mid of the day with a feeling of guilt.. but the mindset you shared reminded me that I should slow down and focus where my attention goes not just on my working days but everyday and that breaks aren't only important for my mental health but for completing my tasks with high energy.. I hope to have this mindset in my current finals and throughout my whole life. I'm really grateful for finding your channel on RUclips, Thank you again 🌸
hey Jade !, I am new and I think you're well-polished, Jade!. I am here to tell u I love it and it is very effective, you like to explore new stuff and venture out. So, I recommend as a Buddhist, if u do not mind, to try out Anapanasati meditation and Loving, Kind meditation. Please tell me if u ever tried it ! and how was it? , thnx. Q. What is ur degree name?. I am still a regular 14-year-old teen😁. AND I just SUBSCRIBED U !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,love D.J
Guys don't try to set a time to study (4 - 12 hours) unless its nessacary the goal of studying is to get the most amount of information in the shortest time, so try to find better study habits instead of studying more ❤
thank you so much for this video, i started university this month and it's a little bit challanging to organise my study sessions. I have so much to do but hearing you say we should focus more on enjoying the process rather than feeling guilty because of how much we could've done was a game-changer for me ♡
Thank you for this video Jade! It was absolutely lovely! (I've read about interleaving before, and I thought you might be interested to read that book too- the author is Prof. Barbara Oakley ( one of the instructors on the course learning how to learn on Coursera), and I think the book is called "A Mind for numbers").
10 hours is crazy. for me if i study more than 6 hours for each day, I'll give myself a massive burnout. a burnout that takes me much longer to get back on track that it's absolutely not worth the 2 or 3 extra hours of each day
Thank you for this and the positivity here. 🙂 Managing my attention and staying focused something I really struggle with especially when I have a lot to do.
Tasks that diminish my focus: fantasizing, overthinking, skipping meals Tasks that power up my focus: meditating, eating well, talking to close friends How I'm dividing my day based on these: overthinking at school, skipping breakfast if I'm late, thinking too much before bed and when I wake up. Talking to friends in the evening after school Need more energy for: doing tricky logical ques (more focus)
I actually cannot stand TikTok. I can genuinely feel my attention span shortening, and I actually started to feel more anxious because of content overload and the never ending scrolling on social media.
This is the first video that I've watched and I'm subscribing :) love your message and positivity and how understanding you are of lots of different people. I certainly need to work smarter not harder as I'm at my limit at the moment. This has inspired me to think about how I'm spending my energy throughout the day!
Attention budget is so true! Another little strategy my mum taught me… Whenever you write a task to do, allocate it “effort cubes”: you have ten in a day- how many effort cubes are each task worth? ❤
You’re such an eloquent speaker. Loved the points you put forward and they gave me a lot to think about. It’s about time I start figuring out my personal promoters and poisons as well. Thank you Jade❤
Hey Jade, most classes are online with the advent of high-speed internet. Also, there are a host of resources available online which makes it irresistible not to continue studying. But when I do a few hours of online study I feel exhausted and cannot continue my studies which was unlike when the only resources available were physical paper books and we could study for 10 hours at length. What timetable and methodologies would you suggest for someone whose source of study material is only digital content.
I'm an argentinian who has discovered your channel recently, and let me just say that i love you energy and message! I'm not a student anymore but this tips are really great for my work as a freelancer. Thank you for sharing your spark with the world! :)
Interesting that you mention spending a lot of time caring for yourself with meditations and doing little activities that give you joy like going out or doing short exercises to help in studying up to 10 hours. One of the things I sometimes notice is that I'll work on something 3 hours straight and get tired, and forget to take a meaningful break, which would definitely reenergize me.
Rubbish ! You think for a short time . THEN YOU DO AN ACTUAL EXPERIMENT WITH real people, real actions real concrete results and concrete change over what it was before and a plan for the future. THEN You go back to Studying (i.e RESEARCH). You could try time usage planning with a mixture of these. Thinks Will she read this???
When we engage in a task for a prolonged period, it's common to find ourselves drifting into "default mode," where our thoughts wander to the past or future. If these thoughts trigger emotions, our mood might change, causing us to delve deeper into related thoughts. This often leads to a shift in focus, pulling us away from the task at hand. When this happens, it's usually because we've missed some key details from earlier, which are crucial to understanding what we're currently doing. By consciously forcing our brain to stay focused and search for the underlying reason why we're losing concentration, we're training it to avoid slipping into default mode. Instead, we encourage logical thinking. Over time, this practice strengthens our focus, helping us to regain peak concentration. However, if we break this process, the time spent on other thoughts will directly impact the time needed to refocus. This can be challenging, but with persistence, you can achieve something extraordinary. The idea of "forcing" your brain refers to using the prefrontal cortex to shift the thalamus's focus from distractions to the task at hand, preventing mood changes linked to the neural network, long-term memory, short-term memory, and limbic system. --- This version is structured to convey your ideas more clearly and concisely. if you find this technique work for you please let me know in the reply
I was feeling really tired and scared that I won't make it (finish the syllabus before exam) and ended up searching for your channel for some ✨ casual magic ✨ Thank you! (closing RUclips now.)
Thank you Jade! It’s been a long time since I watched your videos, but now RUclips recommends your video again and I feel so much grateful to watch this video. You helped me realize the relationship between me and my productivity again ❤ Thank you so much 😊
Encouraging a 10-hour study day is super toxic. There is absolutely NO REASON for studying that many hours. Hell, not even a work day is that many hours. Toxic productivity is getting out of hand...Its not important how many hours you work, but how productive you are during the hours you work. Quality over quantity. Stop encouraging this!!!!!!
I like studying but somehow I can’t concentrate if I have weeks before the exam. My brain activates 3 days prior …I feel DRAINED after each exam. Couldn’t find a way to fix it for four years 🤣
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I needed to hear that I should take breaks. Last week I felt guilty for not working as hard as I could two days, so I took very little breaks the next day. I got a lot done, but looking back, I did not understand a lot of it. Now I need to go back over it and I just wasted my time. I need to make sure I'm structuring my day with intentional breaks. Thank you so much. I just love watching these videos. You seem to care so much about everyone watching 💕
This was so refreshing and the phrase "do not judge yourself for how much you have or have not studied, you are here for more than a piece of paper" literally changed my life entirely
Heyyy don't worry don't worry. Try do whatever u can given ur circumstances, which inshallah are good. The night before, set everything up for the next day. I get my laptop out and put any textbooks I'll be needing on my desk, so when it's morning, there's less friction to start working
You must have nothing better in your life to consistently study 10 hours a day, the only time I pull up that number is during exam season for 2-3 weeks and it is draining, sure studying everyday is good, but 10 hour days? Is there nothing more important in your life than studying at that point?
I dont have 10h a day to study with a 14month old around 😅 but hey I want to make my thesis and I think I there are so many good points like the breaks. But I am so tired all the time with being pregnant again too. But I think its so important to really see where does my energy get to. Mostly to my child obvious and mental load is so much more when youre a parent. Have to tacle this ✌🏾
I've had so much uni work though the year that i'm at the point where i have to write my thesis (min 16 000 words) in two weeks and i still have a paper and a presentation due - my College didn't give us dedicated time to write the thesis and it feels like i'm gonna explode before this seemingly impossible tasks so those tips are really really really welcome
I love that you are able to encourage us. I do think that you miss an element, being a full time student with a job that literally allows you to live as your parents don't have the means.
hello friends!! 💌 i hope this mindset helps you study smarter, not harder. It's so so important to take meaningful breaks and fill up your cup so that you can keep pouring it into academic projects. I hope life is treating you well atm. You've got this!! 👏

thank you for yet again a great video. Which one is the video about the study space? addressed to Jade or anyone who knows the answer really..
Wow I love u Jade sis.
Great great video!
Why do I have the feeling that she got the idea of the "Attention Budget" analogy from her favourite Stitch mug😂
my attention budget is on maths, physics and philosophy. The tree killers 🥸🗡️☠️

This is the first video that I've watched and I'm subscribing :) love your message and positivity and how understanding you are of lots of different people. I certainly need to work smarter not harder as I'm at my limit at the moment. This has inspired me to think about how I'm spending my energy throughout the day!
I want to get into medical school so I need to know stuff like this
Thanks for advice
Attention budget is so true! Another little strategy my mum taught me… Whenever you write a task to do, allocate it “effort cubes”: you have ten in a day- how many effort cubes are each task worth? ❤
Jade u radiate such positive vibes ❤
I study 30 minutes a day when I have a good day. If I have a bad day I dont study 😂
Of whom here had more attention on the ring than the lecture itself?!
you're such a life-saver!!
i love u and ur content so much
Jesus Jade your mug!!!! Just started the video and had to mention that it's so cute!!!
You’re such an eloquent speaker. Loved the points you put forward and they gave me a lot to think about. It’s about time I start figuring out my personal promoters and poisons as well. Thank you Jade❤
Here is my concept: lines of Ritalin.
You're a good motivational speaker for me💗✨
Loads of love from india💘😚
I'm an argentinian who has discovered your channel recently, and let me just say that i love you energy and message! I'm not a student anymore but this tips are really great for my work as a freelancer. Thank you for sharing your spark with the world! :)
Interesting that you mention spending a lot of time caring for yourself with meditations and doing little activities that give you joy like going out or doing short exercises to help in studying up to 10 hours. One of the things I sometimes notice is that I'll work on something 3 hours straight and get tired, and forget to take a meaningful break, which would definitely reenergize me.
Heyyy Jadeee
This video is very very helpfulllll
Thanks alottt
😍

Love from India 🇮🇳 pls jade pls jade pls
Hi, love your videos! I was just wondering, when you say 10 hours do you mean effective study hours or including the breaks?
Wow, jade! what a thoughtful video we really do appreciate you!
I saw you reading 'Girl Woman Other' in the video and was wondering what your thoughts are on the novel?

This version is structured to convey your ideas more clearly and concisely.
if you find this technique work for you please let me know in the reply
I was feeling really tired and scared that I won't make it (finish the syllabus before exam) and ended up searching for your channel for some ✨ casual magic ✨
Thank you! (closing RUclips now.)
You inspire me to want to learn new things :) thankyou!!!
I really love the "attention budget". Thank you sharing this amazing thoughts. I found you today and love your content. You are so sweet
loved this. actually useful tips I can see myself applying in real life, unlike most other vids.
Deff not watching this video about being productive while I'm procrastinating on studying.. nooooo ofc not :)
Completely off yopic but…she is just…so.. SO BEAUTIFUL (I am not people pleaser, I am genuine)
Thank you Jade! It’s been a long time since I watched your videos, but now RUclips recommends your video again and I feel so much grateful to watch this video. You helped me realize the relationship between me and my productivity again ❤ Thank you so much 😊
This is the first vdo I saw of yours ...but it instantly felt in love with your thoughts,it feels so relatable 😭♥️
I subscribed right away!!
Couldn’t find a way to fix it for four years 🤣
thank you so much for this video❤
Ego depletion/decision making fatigue = this attention budget you're talking about
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I really needed this video. I was so exausted cause of uni work. But I feel better now thanks to my lovely Jade 😘
This was so refreshing and the phrase "do not judge yourself for how much you have or have not studied, you are here for more than a piece of paper" literally changed my life entirely
Your mug made me pause. I wan it now. Its all I can think of. I am very focused on this mug, actually.
I wish i could think like u but i really can't. I'm exhausted all the time and it's even hard to get out of the bed or do anything.
Heyyy don't worry don't worry. Try do whatever u can given ur circumstances, which inshallah are good. The night before, set everything up for the next day. I get my laptop out and put any textbooks I'll be needing on my desk, so when it's morning, there's less friction to start working
@@theredstonebuilder1120 thank youso much. I'll try that
You must have nothing better in your life to consistently study 10 hours a day, the only time I pull up that number is during exam season for 2-3 weeks and it is draining, sure studying everyday is good, but 10 hour days? Is there nothing more important in your life than studying at that point?
Could anyone tell me where her blue dress may be from??! Its sooo lovely!!🩷⭐⭐
Have to tacle this ✌🏾
I don't like pomodoros by 25/5 but 1-2 hrs/30 mins break idk
pleasee teach me ur ways to focus studying for 10 hrs cos I couldn't even last 30 mins
Can someone add examples for the three questions asked in the early part kf of this video??
Why is it so hard to study 😭my attention span is soooo bad
Thanks for this UnJaded Jade! I found this to be really helpful as a student in university!
where is the music from at the end of the video 9:34 ? It always makes me move my body💃🏻.I really love it!
I love you so much ❣️🥰
I can study 12+ hours a day for 8weeks a year divided into 4 weeks in a row at January and 4 weeks in a row in June and that's it
