HUNTING PUBLIC, BIG BUCK DOWN! | HUNTING NEXT TO THE ROAD! | CRAZY GRUNTING!

- A big public land brute goes down! The 11th day of this hunt started with a light rain as I knew it would. Sitting in my hotel room the night before looking at weather and watching some football, my spirits were in the dumps as I debated on OnX where I should go the next morning. I had been sleeping in my truck at a gas station and was struggling to sleep through all of the big and loud pickups coming through at all hours of the night. After hunting public land that was 1.5 miles to get to, I was starting to become mentally and physically beat with the thought of not filling a tag I had applied for 5 years to get.
I was in no hurry the day of to get to the piece of public land and hunt just off the road early the next morning. I sat in my truck as the rain began to subside and braced for the cold front that was approaching. Finally walking in and getting set up just after day light, I ate a pop-tart and incredible things began to happen. Needless to say, this is crazy cool footage of grunting and the deer dropping on film as the hunt takes place 80 yards off the road! www.theelementwild.com #SZN Развлечения
Congratulations to you and everybody who played a role!! Awesome deer!!! Those vocalizations were insane-never heard grunting that intense in the field personally...he was either extremely frustrated with her or the breeding was getting ready to happen RIGHT there...either way, awesome!!! God is so good!!
Ronald Calvird That’s exactly how I perceived it! First time I ever heard anything remotely like that. Was a cool day to be in the woods.
Amen The Lord Is Good !
Likely craziest vocalization ever seen on film. Only once have I heard myself in woods this crazy of grunting. Nice!!!
Awesome buck buddy congratulations happy 4 u👍
Man, those grunts are awesome!! Nice hunt!! And 3 year old Buck!!
Great vocalizations. Awesome stuff.
Deer are so cool! Thanks!
Great catch hearing an actual tending grunt.
Thought it was a dirt bike lol!
Great video! I appreciate the informative & clean content. Well done! God is good
Thanks John! This was a great day!
Sweet video, awesome camo
Thanks!
It is easy to be pessimistic, highs and lows. Congrats!
New subscriber... Great Hunt and video.I'm from Pennsylvania and we don't have a deer herd like Iowa but I still believe your correct of the age being 3.5.
Thanks Chad! Same deal for us in Texas. That’s why I waited 5 years to draw this tag! Good luck this SZN!
That buck roar is awesome!
Enjoy The Hunt it was intense! Thanks for watching!
Sorry a little tardy to the party!! Just found your channel and subbed!!! Great video man!!! I’ve heard some pretty vocal bucks but yours takes the cake brother. That was awesome!! Good luck this season.... can’t come quick enough
Thanks for the kind words and sub Brandon! You’re right about that! I’m ready to hunt! What state are you hearing them vocal bucks in??
The Element I lease almost 6,000 acres in butler county KS. No shortage of rut crazed action in early November but it’s norm a grunt every few seconds not constant like that one!!! That had to have been so cool to see let alone get on video. You seem to be doing just fine hunting the way you are but if you ever wanna give SE Kansas Private a try... it’d be cool to have you!! Plus there’s a huge WIHA literally across the road from my lodge and one of the 3 farms I lease if you’d prefer to do the public route . Plus atleast you’d have a place to sleep walking distance from your stand. No BS either man. I love what y’all are doing and there’s no doubt you’re in it for the right reasons. Lmk if you’re interested!!
Awesome vocals and hunt!
Thanks for watching! I thought it was a dirt bike coming closer until I saw him with his mouth open at 40 yards!!
The vocals from that buck were 🔥🔥🔥
Infected Outdoors Agreed! So cool!
Awesome stuff.
Good Buck!!! Congrats 💯
DoItSolo Thanks man! I’m actually guessing you’re a man... am I right??
@@TheElementWild yes you right! lol
Awesome hunt , awesome buck ! And i'm SO glad that you that buck's vocalization on film . I got a few hunting buddies that are gonna be eating crow !
I've told them i've heard bucks make those long drawn out grunts . I was told i was full of it ?
I was thinkin' 4 1/2 ? If he's only 3.5 ... think what he woulda looked like at 5.5 or 6.5 . (I'm guessing dear don't live that long though , if they run public land ?)
Thanks man! I’m glad I could prove you right. 💪🏽💪🏽
This year I almost notched my tag on a pretty nice buck about 100 yards from the road. I saw a rub next to the road and followed the terrain around to where it was logical for the buck to bed. It was a point that dropped down from a road that connected to the road where I went in. I smelled him first and then he showed up, walked by me at 20 yards through thick cover, and needed to take one more step For me to get a shot. Instead he turned and looked right at me. The buck I did kill was about 250 yards off the road. Both of those spots had something in common. I never see anyone hunting there. In big continuous expanses of woods they have to cross those roads somewhere. And that would be anywhere the correct terrain meets an area where nobody hunts. Admittedly I enjoy hunting far off the road but if a little opportunity presents itself close to the road I'll take it.
Great grunting from that buck and a real nice one. Great video!
Let the adventures begin!!!
LDGG!
Well done. I think he's 4 and a 1/2.
Good job 👏
Thanks Larry!
Nice you got a new subscriber
Graham Boyz outdoorz Thanks Boyz!
Awesome footage! Oh yea you could hear that grunt from a miles aways! He was glued to that doe! Again, freaking awesome footage! Keep me coming!
kevyher1 thank you 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿 Kansas up next!!
These are my favorite hunts public land good stuff. 3.5 yr old my guess also.

Albert Brabham Thanks dood! Would love if you subbed!
Nice shot and great woodsmanship, that’s as real as it gets!
Thanks for sharing why and how you created your setup.
Thanks for the kind words JT! Means a ton to me!
Nice job on the hunt and the video and that mature buck.lt seems to take forever to happen , then it goes down so fast. Keep the faith . OHIO MITCH
Mitch Thorpe Thanks OHIO MITCH! Would love if you subscribed!
I have
Hell yes!! Nice buck man! Congrats! Cool looking setup too with the creek.
Thanks dude! It was definitely something that caught my eye on the map and held up once I got there. You hunt creek systems a lot? Or do you look for other features?
I love hunting creeks, pinch points, drainages, bottoms nothing too open though. Since I got my XOP treestand I love hunting the oaks trees.
Glad you got it done, Tyler! Nice buck and what a neat experience!
Tom Baty Thanks Tom, me too! I was starting to really doubt it was going to happen.
I have always wanted to go hunting in Kansas but I don't know of any good places to go hunting so if you have any ideas I would be very grateful 🙏
Congrats man! Really well done video! I could literally Smell the buck when you got up close to it! Lol. Loved your patience, and thought process. You hunt like I used to hunt. (Cancer bout has me a little weak, but I'm in remission! Hopefully back out there one day!) You and your buddies are an inspiration! Keep on keeping on! And yes , God is sovereign, and good, all the time. Thanks for that!

..cant wait for Kansas! That's where I live!
Coffee Hunter Thanks for the compliments Donnie! So glad you’re in remission and I hope it stays that way. Also hope you get to hunt hard in the future. Idk if I would be strong enough to maintain a great attitude like you have. God bless brother!
@@TheElementWild -Thank you!
Great job of keeping it together and making a great shot. Most of all for giving God the glory ! May you be blessed.
Jamie Rogers Thank you! Would love if you subscribe to the channel if you haven’t yet.
First time to see one of your videos and it was as good as I have seen. That big boy put on a show glade you could make it happen congrats can’t wait to the next one be safe!!!
Glenn Harrison Thanks Glenn! Appreciate the kind words! I hope you saw some other vids on our channel that made it worth subscribing!
You bet brother I don’t get to hunt like I used to when I was younger because of work , so this helps me get my fix on. Bow hunting is all I do and lol the only thing I am addicted to be safe 👍
Glenn Harrison Good deal bud! Well thanks for the support and best of luck!
Congratulations your right God is good!
Andrew Langdon Thank you! Hope you had a great season!
You should've let that big boy mate with that doe before but nice shot
Ima have to disagree there. They were about to step into my wind and be gone. Thanks tho! How’s your SZN going?
Congratulations ...

Sam Hogan Thanks Sam! I wanna be like you when I grow up tho.
Awesome Buck! Show us how you gut your deer and get it ready for processing. Praise God 🙏😂
Thanks Johan! Unfortunately, RUclips does not like those kinda videos. 👎🏿 We tried it with a wild hog.
Congrats man awesome hunt and a beautiful buck plus getting to hear the vocalization it doesn’t get any better. I am also digging the SKRE been on the fence about purchasing some myself
dbuckner902010 Thanks a bunch!! Dude that is a down jacket that weighs like 12 oz. and stuffs into my pack really small! It goes with me on pretty much all my public land hunts. Got it for Christmas from a friend.
The Element I need one of your friends how do you like the pattern ? It seemed to look great in the setting you was in I personally have never seen any gear they offer so I am torn on the 2 patterns they have available MTN stealth or summit
@@dbuckner902010 Yea. It can get a touch dark. Looked good in the oak trees of Iowa just like back home. Also, looks good in the deep woods of the south amongst green briar and swamp grass etc. It seems kinda dark for out west often times.
The Element I appreciate the response MTN stealth should work just fine in Missouri then later into the fall
Congrats! What an awesome hunt and great interview on the cell/truck :)
Thanks Henry! Crazy cool experience!
Great job! That grunting was CRAZY!
Bowhunter 24/7 So cool! First time hearing it like that!
great hunt!!! as good a guttural grunting as you can get!
Jim Powers For real! You ever heard anything like that?
Dang, that grunting reminds me of a Suzuki 250🛵 😆
James Bailey Hahaha! No kidding. It didn’t register with me what it was until he got a little closer.
Love when this pops up on my explore feed!
Awesome hunt, loved the grunting! God is good always!
Ridge Raised Outdoors Thanks! Couldn’t believe what I was hearing at first!
Real nice buck. Congratulations.
Please try to refrain from wearing your faith on your sleave! It may be a Popular thing to do, but it's not something that all welcome. Thanks and good luck on your future hunts.
Mel Weidert Thanks for the compliments, definitely just being myself. I don’t live to be popular however. I know it’s not popular, but neither is hunting. I still put hunting videos out. Again, I appreciate you watching! 🙂
Nice buck man
Grant White Thanks Grant! Probably nothing like what you killed this year, but it got me juiced up!
The element Thankyou but still I would’ve shot that buck he’s cool he would get me juiced up too
Awesome hunt, great buck! I'd agree on the age 3 1/2 year old. Especially in a state like Iowa where the deer have so many crops to get big just like my home state of Missouri. They get big quick up north of I-70.
mohunter68 sho do man!! What part of Missouri do you hunt??
Congrats on the nice buck and great footage of him chasing that doe around. What a cool day afield, thanks for sharing 🦌
Thank you!!! It was an incredible day!
Outstanding!!! Always think outside of the box!!
MrBigrich722 That’s right brother! Unconventional thinking can often pay off big! Thank you for watching. You do anything out of the box this year?
Wow the vocal was amazing! Congrats on a giant!
MN TEAM HARVEST Thanks! I’d never heard anything like that before!
I'll have to say, I have spent many hours in the woods and have heard bucks grunting, this one however takes the cake!! The expression " grunting like a market hog" takes on a whole new meaning here!! Good job on the video! Excellent shot!! Thank you!!
Michael Zimmerman Hey thanks! Appreciate the compliments and you watching! I have a similar experience man, it was crazy cool!
@@TheElementWild you're welcome!
great video. Is this Kansas?
Todd Crenshaw no sir, this is public land in Iowa.
Thanks for the compliment Todd! You hunt the Midwest much?
@@TheElementWild I bow hunt Illinois and Ohio. Hunted Kansas once. Thanks.
Todd Crenshaw nice! Illinois is on my radar big time.
@@TheElementWild Iowa is a lot tougher for non residents. In your video, I don't think I have ever heard a buck grunt like that before. I would call that a tending grunt.
What zone in Iowa was this?...Thanks!

jason willis Thanks Jason! Crazy cool experience! Hope your season went well!
Unreal vocalizations! What an experience! Congrats on sticking with it.
Anthony Warren Thanks dude! It was a special experience!
You da man btw!
Looks like a 3 1/2 year old to me. There just isn't enough mass around the bases for it to be older, especially considering the body size
Josh Koch Thanks Josh! What do you think about this buck the day before? Age? ruclips.net/video/2cUN5TfTw5k/видео.html
I had a nice 8pt following an estrus doe come in grunting every bit as much as that. He sounded like a pig coming through the woods before I could lay eyes on either deer! That being said, in 35 years of deer hunting...it was only that one time. Really cool. OBTW, I was so worked up, I missed that 8....
Steve schisler Dude that’s cool! Appreciate you watching and taking time to comment! We’re you bow hunting when you missed?
The Element, yes! The most exciting bowhunt of my life, without even killing one. I saw 9 bucks and 2 does, a coyote and some turkeys. At the end of the morning hunt, I was out of arrows and had the shakes... I shot at the coyote first, miss #1. Then I shot under a six pointer at 30 yards, miss #2. Then a doe and another 6pt came by with no shot and bedded down about 45 yds in front of me. While they laid there the 8 pt came from way behind me grunting as if a hog was oinking and snorting his way through the woods towards me. His lips were rolled back, nose in the air on a string right at the doe lying down. I was so surprised that I wasn’t ready when he went by me at 15 yds! He trotted up to the doe and pushed her with his antlers to get her up. The 6 pt jumped up and started fighting with the 8pt at 50yds and then after a few seconds the 6 turned tail and the 8 ran him off. So I’m left with a doe who’s at 50 and no bucks and I’m shaking like a leaf. The 8 comes running back and tried to mount the doe. She keeps jumping ahead to prevent it, towards me, and as they got closer I drew my bow with my last broadhead. As he tried to mount her again at 20 yards, I put the pin on him, pulled the trigger release.... the arrow tipped a branch, slapped him on the butt as it whipped by him. He dang near jumped over her! I had to laugh as they walked away and I decided to climb down and get my arrows. After climbing back up, I had a 5 point at 15 yds and I couldn’t even hold my pins on him I was so shook up.... I saw a few more assorted deer and the turkeys before the end of hunt, but hooked on bow hunting for life. I was shooting an old Bear Whitetail Hunter II.
Steve schisler that sounds awesome!! What state is this in??
The Element, that hunt was in Northeast Missouri...saw some big bucks up there during the years I hunted up there. From the pics and videos I see, there’s still a few up there! This video, with the creekbottom and woods looks incredibly similar to where my hunt took place along the Fabius River...
Steve schisler oh nice! Yea that’s beautiful country. Would love to hunt it sometime!
Great job man, great plan!! Way to gut it out when the going gets tough! If I had to guess on the deer’s age, I would say a good two year old for Iowa, but I would be curious to see what the test came back as well. Great deer and great experience/hunt either way!! Congratulations, and continued success to you. BTW, listen and love your podcast too 👍🏼👊🏼💪🏼
Thanks a bunch Brad! Appreciate all the support across the platforms! Means a ton to us.
Man, the vocalizations on this video were insane, nice job!

Nice shot!
Grace Beacham Thanks sis!
Was all that him grunting
mannn that grunting is awesomeeeee. 3 1/2 for sure
Dude so cool! I couldn't believe it. You ever experienced something like that??
The Element not nearly that intense but I did have a buck do a few super deep grunts almost a roar then i was able to lure him in with a snort wheeze, he came in behind some trees didn’t see anything then circled way down wind and busted me. Still an awesome experience!!
Tyler Dunworth bummer! That’s a cool interaction tho! I learned a ton from calling encounters this year.
congratulation on a nice buck.. I've switch trees before only to see deer walking in range of the first tree, but sometimes it does work, a true blessing for you and good decision making. thanks for sharing the awesome hunt. God bless,
Was liking the video until the end, you mentioned the sovereignty of God, now I love it. Congrats on a nice public buck. Keep using your platform to glorify Him.

Yes but I love deer hunting have some videos of me hunting on RUclips of deer hunting but self filming too it’s hard but here where are allowed to bait so it’s little easier
Awesome audio of the grunting! Loved the video!! I’d agree that’s a 3.5 yo deer. I’d say he’d be more blown up than that if he was any older. Those Midwest white tails explode after 3yo.

My cousin has a parcel of land he hunts thats no more then 2 acres and has a country bsck road along the side of it, every muzzle loader season first day he goes there and always comes back with a buck

Way to go Tyler!!! I knew that you were going to get a shot at a good buck. That was some fantastic footage! I heard the constant grunting before I ever saw the buck. Just couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Lol. That setup reminded me of a stand we had down in Menard that was about 40 yards off of a county road next to a deep creek. We killed deer out of it every year. Congratulations on getting it done on public land! And have a safe trip back home.
Sammy Tubbs Thanks Sammy! Safe and sound back home with the family now! Do the deer still use that area by Menard or has something changed?
My brother in law sold that ranch a couple of years ago Tyler. It was a bow hunters dream. Free range axis was a bonus. We miss it. Now we hunt our places in the Glen Rose area. I really enjoy your videos. You’re doing a great job. Reminds me of Randy Newburg’s “On your on Adventures”. Keep it up
Sammy Tubbs Well thanks! That’s good company! My wife went to Tarleton State so I know that Glen Rose area well. Love fishing the Paluxy!
Buck roar!
Gary Garlow Like a 🦁!!
I really thought that it was you grunting he was really wanting someone to love
Dwight Pickens Dude isn’t that crazy?!You ever heard anything like that?
Props man. You put together a hell of a plan and made it happen. Awesome shot too. Love to see a #bowhunter wait for the perfect shot and not just get the animal in bow range and let it fly. You were patient and captured so unreal footage! That buck grunting and bawling like that was intense. Awesome hunt
Outlaw Media Hey thanks man!! Refreshing to hear some of these compliments man! I had never heard that kind of vocalization! That’s a nice buck in you pic? Where’d you get that buck?
@@TheElementWild Absolutely man! The buck in my pic is buck we called The Gate buck". Big ol Illinois corn fed. lots of history with him and his un willingness to jump a fence and walk through an open cattle gate lead to him taking a rage at 15 yards in the heart. Working on the film now, dropping this summer!

bobby green Thanks Bobby! Hope your season went well!
The Element I’m 64 and one deer is enough, but I remember being younger and limiting out in five different states
bobby green wow that’s a ton of deer! This was my busiest year and I’ve only hunted 4 states so far and definitely didn’t tag out in all of them. Sounds like you have a good idea what you’re doing in the deer woods!
The Element did not finish school or college, my father owned a grocery store and was a drinker , I was never so I worked seven nights a week and had every day off till four pm , I either hunted grouse or deer nearly every day , my first wife stayed six years and then left me , she told a friend that she couldn’t complete with the deer , from the 70 s until 2005 , I did this and am so glad I did ,when you get older and more financially sound , it makes you want to not hunt and fish all the time , not to mention not feeling like doing that , so don’t wait till you get older , the drive goes away.
Oh just in NC and WV I have killed over 500 ruffed grouse.
bobby green I hear ya. You have a good testimony brother, I hope you can use it to encourage others to pursue righteous things!

Kenny Anstey Thank you! And no kidding! Never heard anything like that and I’ve heard a considerable amount of grunting!
What was the biggest take-away for you in hearing that??
In the right place “ thicker cover” and the right time “ peak rut” I am going to try and mimic that constant longer and fluctuated grunt .
Kenny Anstey Yep! That’s good logic Kenny! I think I’ll do the same.
Dude those vocalizations are nuts! Kind of a revelation of what you can actually do on a grunt call. That deer looks and acts pretty dominate in the footage. I thought 3 originally, but there is definitely a chance he is older!
Kaleb Smith Agreed! I told A-Dubb the same thing... like, how can you do it wrong?!?
Man that was a awesome hunt. I really enjoyed that hunt. You held that draw for a while and.still made a awesome shot to put him down at 20 yards in plain view of your stand. What made the hunt so awesome is you gave God all the glory for the whole hunt. GOD IS AWESOME Brother.

Hey brother, I've just gotten into bow hunting and live in South Texas. What are some good public land spots statewide? I'm having a tough time finding places, and do not want to hunt a ranch.
T Willingham that’s awesome man! Public hunting gets a little tougher down south. Depends on where you are and how far you want to drive. There’s I good looking place near San Angelo, Aransas NWR has some hunts, and there’s National land around Del Rio. What area are you in?
@@TheElementWild Thanks for the reply! I live in Aransas Pass, right outside of Corpus Christi. I would definitely drive wherever I need to have a good hunt.

Never heard one grunt for such an extended time. That was awesome. I'm so use to hearing folks do short grunts, but that will change now with this video. That's a great buck in anyone's woods.

I heard bucks grunt but never that long and was even roaring at some point. I hunt ms and ar river delta. But very awesome footage just got another follower.
Thanks Roger! Definitely a cool experience that I have never seen either until that day! Thanks for subscribing brother!
Absolute awesome video. I usually watch hunts during the offseason, gets me fired up. Great deer and a great shot. I was impressed with how long you held at full draw and still put a good shot on him. And that's right give the Glory to God. would you mind telling me what kind of camera you used to film, I'd like to get one here pretty soon for this coming season? Did you ever find out the age of the deer, I'd say he's 4.5.
Hey Corey! Thanks so much for all the compliments brother! I run a Sony A7Sii (battery life is terrible) with a 24-240 lens on it and a rode mic with a deadcat on it. I would suggest something more like the Sony AX100 if you're not super familiar with cameras, its more of a camcorder format, which is easier to work with often times. In fact, my partner in crime KC, might be willing to sell his. He talked about selling it awhile back. Where'd you shoot that buck in your profile pic?
