- After hunting public marshes in the morning in open country from the ground, K.C. decides to make the long haul deep into public ground with his saddle, bow, and grunt call looking for deer.
The evening seems like it almost may end as a bust, with the only animal showing being a Boone and Crockett possum. That is until a ginormous whitetail buck appears; cruising downwind of some doe bedding. K.C. calls to him and the buck turns 180º and heads strait in to his stand looking for a fight! Then, a giant goes down on Public! However, its not without drama! A well-placed but questionable shot, local sabotage, and private land fences all attempt to cause K.C. grief, but the hunter prevails!

Best hunting video ever? Have you ever had to leave a deer over night?
My father-in-law had to back in October and coyotes got him.

Thankful I haven’t had to leave one over night, but you guys made the right call.

I was hunting a 186” (which I managed to kill btw) on public ground in Illinois. Three days before I poked him, someone slashed all 4 valve stems on my tires. The mechanic showed me the slices. I lost a whole day hunt waiting for the local tire shop to replace my stems. I think some local was trying to send me a message. I sent a message back with my bloody arrow at the parking spot 👍👊. Nice buck brother!!

The second he stepped into the creek I would have drawn back and probably had to let down while he’s standing there losing the buck, think I need to be more patient. My first bow season has really shown me a learning curve. My whole life I have set up my mobile public stands to shoot the deer as they see me or right before, but with a bow you can’t have them see you before you draw back 😂

That’s what this was for me. Not that we should praise God highly when things are great, but that we should do that even when they aren’t.

Sometimes a deer will go a ways after they have pretty much ran out of blood.
If the trail has gone from a straight line to weaving back and forth, when the blood trail gets sparse. It should not be far away.
I know that it's hard to put togather when its thick. I have seen it play out like that in a picked corn field.
Just when tracking was looking futile i swang my lite around and there he was.
