As the son of a single mother, I grew up in the '70s, navigating life as a latchkey kid. My mother, a timeless beauty, and I shared precious moments together, some spent watching classics like the Love Boat and Fantasy Island, while on other nights, she would dazzle at the disco with her friends. Witnessing her dressing up for those nights filled me with excitement and admiration; she exuded a captivating aura that made her a joy to be around. Being her son was an absolute honor. Years passed, and we ended up living in different cities until 2006. Then, that life-altering call came - she had been diagnosed with cancer. All she desired was to spend her final months with me, and without hesitation, I made my way to her side. One evening, as she lay in her bed, and I sat in the family room, James Blunt performed this soulful song on SNL. It struck a chord deep within me, and immediately after, I downloaded the song. I took it to her bedside, and together, we listened. Tears welled up as we hugged, feeling the profound connection between the lyrics and our own journey. We knew that time was slipping away. One month later, she left this world, leaving an indelible void in my heart. Even now, whenever that song finds its way to my ears, the floodgates of emotions open, and I find myself crying, reminiscing about the incredible woman who was my mother.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever read, I hope you are doing well and I know your mother is watching you from heaven, keep your head up we're here for you ❤

Always transports me back to 2007 Durban, South Africa. I was on vacation with my parents and close to the aparment building we were staying at, there was this little eatery we frequented, that played this song faintly in the background , every day that we were there. I recognised the song instantly. It was such a delight rediscovering and finally knowing this song forever .
I've fallen in love with so many of James Blunt's songs. I especially love Good Bye my Lover, as I recently lost my husband of 35 years. I cant get those images of him out of my head and it's eating me up from the inside. I miss him so bad,. I am so lost without him. My heart aches.

I was born in 1973, one day while listening to this song my 5 year old daughter told me to play it again, every time I listen to it I remember that magical moment where we made our musical tastes compatible.
This song encapsulates the feeling of nostalgia and the appreciation of bright and beautiful days so well it's hard to describe. It makes you feel like you were there and you don't even know where there was necessarily. It's like just by the way it sounds and just by the repetition and energy of it it makes you feel this heartache. It's not even like where you think of your own memories it's more universal.
MOFO RUclips will never recommend songs like this!!! You gotta find out from depths of memory when you heard it for the first time and fell in love with it!!!

it was a first song of James Blunt that I heard. I was schoked when he sang "Simona..." :D and from then I love him as singer. His songs touch my heart every time I listening to. and sometimes till tears....
Perfect to hear at night. No matter if you're driving, in the bus or just back home after a heavy work day, you'll get relaxed. I LOVE THIS MASTERPIECE!
I was on a rented car going to Toledo , from Madrid . My son was driving and my daughter was beside him, and I asked her to turn on the radio , and I listened to this song for the first time ! It struck me like a lightning bolt . Beautiful and powerful . Thank you James
Yup. I was born in 2005, and I was diagnoaed with cancer in 2007. On the day of my diagnosis, James Blunt was premiering this song. I survived and was cleared in 2009, and now, at 14, I know all the lyrics

@@thelegendkillersshittyduff1335 thanks for spreading the truth, marriage is just a scam for gold digger, and love is an illusion for women to suck your money off. And lies you constantly threw on "you don't look fat".
This reminds me so much of times gone by in the 1980's, in a club with a special person when I wished some of those nights could just gone on for ever. Last saw her in the early 90's, wonder where she is and what she's doing now, hope she's happy.

this song tugs at the heart of many who are left feeling lonely with just their memories of a better time. Viewed from a 3rd person can be a very sad state to be in, but from the person experiencing the nostalgia, they're literally in their own little happy world...at least for the time being.
no what.. dont even compare it this those years are shiittt i remember i was with my friend before the corona doing exactly that spending long nights outsides and since 18,7,20 its the last time i heard about him
The song is not about the year 1973, it's the name of the club. But... Yeah, the song could make you feel nostalgic, even about a time you never lived.
Listen to this song when I was 8, my mom and dad always played this song every single morning with other tracks included on the CD. Now that my father is gone, I missed him and the past. How much have I experienced life? I'm only 21 and there's still a long journey ahead of me.

After Decades i remembered this song today. Memories bringing back to me.
It's as almost you are put right back into the place you were when you heard first it.
decades?!?! fr??
15 years
@@cynthiapolin7485 just because we recently entered 2023 doesn’t mean it’s suddenly been an entire 15th year already. We’re still in January
Decades since 1973 you know
I was born in 1973, one day while listening to this song my 5 year old daughter told me to play it again, every time I listen to it I remember that magical moment where we made our musical tastes compatible.
i was 10 in 1973..but i recall how smoking hot chicks dressed and acted then:)
This is exactly how I feel every single time I listen to this song. Thank you for putting it in words!
I agree, its wonderful. Nostalgia, remembered youth seems to hit the spot.I don't like any of his others tho ! He prob didn't have pubes in 73 tho !
Wow, how perfectly you can describe the feeling. This is exactly how i feel.
So true
You described my feelings perfectly !!
16 years later. Music is like a time machine that can take us to the time when we first heard it.
Che verità !!!! Ero molto più giovane !
MOFO RUclips will never recommend songs like this!!! You gotta find out from depths of memory when you heard it for the first time and fell in love with it!!!
You tube ain't helpful they do everything to make sure anything good you want to watch or download there will be problems - website suck selfish people 2021 Ca

Hi Simona
Simona, we are getting older...
I’m the 100th like ;p
Same 😂😂 Hi Simona, I'm Simona
How can James Blunt be so underrated. He writes beatifullyand sings just as well in my opinion.
Yeah, but don't forget we sorted out this song 9 years ago xD
benjamin krief yes a decade has passed us by, damn that was soooo fast.
Yes, but he made more albuns! Bonfire heart; postcards, smoke signals, miss america, stay the night.... a lot of good songs.... so i dont understand why is so underrated...
Same. I mean idk. Like James blunt and Owl city some great singers just fade. They never made a video for 1 year :'(
lol he has the most sold album in the UK of the 2000s... "underrated"
Músicas eternas ❤❤❤
LYRICS!!!
Simona, you're getting older
Your journey's been etched on your skin
Simona, wish I had known that
What seemed so strong has been and gone
I would call you up at a Saturday night
And we'd both stay out 'til the morning light
And we sang, "Here we go again"
And though time goes by, I will always be
In a club with you in 1973
Singing, "Here we go again"
Simona, wish I was sober
So I could see clearly now the rain has gone
Simona, I guess it's over
My memory plays our tune, the same old song
I would call you every Saturday night
And we'd both stay out 'til the morning light
And we sang, "Here we go again"
And though time goes by, I will always be
In a club with you in 1973
Singing, "Here we go again"
I would call you up every Saturday night
And we'd both stay out 'til the morning light
And we sang, "Here we go again"
And though time goes by, I will always be
In a club with you in 1973
Singing, "Here we go again"
I would call you up every Saturday night
And we'd both stay out 'til the morning light
And we sang, "Here we go again"
And though time goes by, I will always be
In a club with you in 1973
Singing, "Here we go again"
And though time goes by, I will always be
In a club with you in 1973
Thank you. 💫

it was a first song of James Blunt that I heard. I was schoked when he sang "Simona..." :D and from then I love him as singer. His songs touch my heart every time I listening to. and sometimes till tears....
James Blunt is one of the most underrated singers ever. He deserves much more recognition.
He did have the best selling album of the naughties (UK); that says more than enough!
Imo he is one of the gratest
He is posh

Found this song after not hearing for at least 10 years. It instantly transported me to the past. I'm going to have to give it another spin. Peace.
Perfect to hear at night. No matter if you're driving, in the bus or just back home after a heavy work day, you'll get relaxed. I LOVE THIS MASTERPIECE!
I agree!
Agreed
Brings back so many memories!
I feel this sadness in my gut; and want to cry. Anyone relate?
He sings about past experiences. It's what I love about him and his music.
Yes but thats what's sad is you can't get back youth. But the memories can make you happy
I could relate. Going back and forth in a relationship with an old friend of mine. We use to like to dance. Man old times, the good times faded.
I love u
Yeah hun. Sure do.
You’re going to make a lot of friends in this life. Some for a reason, some for a season.
I’m 32 and when I was 13 James blunt is who made me want to play guitar. And it’s all history from there. ❤🎉
Honestly every single song from James Blunt is just purely natural and fantastic, he is a great Singer, I absolutely love his songs.
I was only 13 when I first heard this song. Now I'm 28 and giving me tears everytime I hear this

I feel nostalgia. I used hear that song when I was living in London. I miss so much my dear London and those old times.
And suddenly it's been 16yrs , and it still hits you through and through

God bless you, Sir James Blunt. ❤
I was on a rented car going to Toledo , from Madrid . My son was driving and my daughter was beside him, and I asked her to turn on the radio , and I listened to this song for the first time ! It struck me like a lightning bolt . Beautiful and powerful . Thank you James
13 years old, wow. Never forgotten.
Enyone 2020 here?😍
Yeah! I was 17 in 1973!! 😀
Lol, i was 6!!!
Yup. I was born in 2005, and I was diagnoaed with cancer in 2007. On the day of my diagnosis, James Blunt was premiering this song. I survived and was cleared in 2009, and now, at 14, I know all the lyrics
James Chick omg mate I’m 17 and couldn’t imagine going through what you went through. 💙
nutella1204 thanks mate, it was hell (apparently) but i live to tell the tale. Trouble is, whenever i talk about it, people probably think I’m showing it off. Ive always thought that if i do, it’ll come back
Its 2023 and im still here. Im nearly 21 and i used to be obsessed with his songs when i was 14-16. This was ome of my favourites! Pure nostalgia

One of the most soulful voices I've ever heard. He is in my top ten. He can make any song sound like an angel is singing. One of the biggest crushes I have on a musician. 💝💝💝
Hello, how are you doing today and the entire family and friends doing today
I don't know why but to me this is what love sounds like
No such thing as love also marriage is a fucking scam
👍👍👍🔝
Well yeah, you're right, this is my favorite song for a reason.
I agree
@@thelegendkillersshittyduff1335
thanks for spreading the truth,
marriage is just a scam for gold digger,
and love is an illusion for women to suck your money off.
I advocate people to get married, divorced, and get custody so that you won't be alone yet seems like the nice guy comparing to your spouse.
That will save you 20 years of nagging and complains.
And lies you constantly threw on
"you don't look fat".
This reminds me so much of times gone by in the 1980's, in a club with a special person when I wished some of those nights could just gone on for ever. Last saw her in the early 90's, wonder where she is and what she's doing now, hope she's happy.
James blunt. There aren't word for describe you and your songs. You are the only person that can make me cry. ❤️❤️
It is so sad that music like this disappeared nowadays.THIS IS ART
You are right
Yes...True poetry!!
Not for me
13 years ago, I listened to this song via radio. Finally, here we go again.

this song tugs at the heart of many who are left feeling lonely with just their memories of a better time. Viewed from a 3rd person can be a very sad state to be in, but from the person experiencing the nostalgia, they're literally in their own little happy world...at least for the time being.
I remember that when I first heard this song I had thought it was an old Bee Gees song that I had never heard before. What a great song! :)
the bass guitar was well played. i cant get enough of it
I cant stop listening this! it's perfect!
It’s not 1973, it’s 2020 but I feel like I’m livin in 1973 when I hear that song. I’m rising my glass to who miss the happy days, beautiful memories 💫
