I believe she truly thought he would break down and come on back to the States. But he could not easily walk away from a life-changing part. It was his time, just as "High School Musical" was her chance for a life change. His success would have changed her life, too, had she been patient, also honoring the eight years. As it turns out, it was time for BOTH to let go and move on.

@@pskton it’s really not. they’re human too… i’ll agree that celebrity relationships are nothing like ours but the human emotion of love is innate in everyone. you don’t stay with someone for nine years if there’s not real love there. i can’t pretend to know their relationship and neither can you but we can go off of what they’ve both said about each other.
