- A surprising twist ending in the fourth season in episode S04E10 "The French Connection." In this episode, Summer gives back the wedding ring to Seth to take back their hasty proposal. Taylor's ex-French husband is in town promoting his book, and she just finished doing a show with him on TV, but Ryan left after he found out that Taylor lied about what he did so he wouldn't be embarassed in front of other intellectuals. Ryan comes back from the show and looks at a scrap book that Taylor put together of their relationship so far....and he....

This scene is unbelievable, everybody screamed "NOOOO" when Ryan closed the book, the hope in her eyes is so pure and genuine, we love her

Taylor was a bad character. I dont blame the actress but she was really annoying. The season is better than it is remembered but season 3 was so bad that people checked out.

@@buzzerbeater37 Taylor was a breath of fresh air and brought us the best possible version of Ryan! They should have introduced her better in series three instead of sticking to all that Marissa drama and stupid Johnny storylines. In this case The OC would have lasted longer

@@buzzerbeater37 The ratings started to drop by season 3 because audiences were tired of Marissa and all the drama. She was one of the characters that was in the beginning of the show. How do you think Taylor could save the show when it was already ruined? Everyone says Taylor was a breath of fresh air on the show (anyone who says otherwise are just Marissa fans) sadly she was introduced badly, and late. that's all
This episode finale is on my podium, along with the Spiderman kiss and Hannah's leaving.
i loved the last series just because of taylor! marissa was ryan's first and unforgettable love, but personally i liked taylor so much more
i loved how in the 'dream' ryan ran so fast to get to her :)

@TheBlah4444 she didn't actually replaced marissa as a person... she was a total different character! however, she helped ryan and summer to overcome marissa's death, and that's great I think. I loved taylor a lot more than marissa, to be honest. Marissa - IN THE END of course - was too much drama, and Ryan and her would never have been happy like that.

@fleurgi That Is So True! I Didn't Mind Season 1 With Ryan And Marissa But After That It Just Kinda Got Annoying! I Definitely Liked Ryan And Sadie The Most, But I Think That Ryan And Taylor Were Good For Season 4 Coz To Me It Felt Like They Were Trying To Make The Show More Of A Comity Then In The Other Seasons.

@voluMzor it was definitely a part of the OC but I enjoyed the other qualitites of The OC much more than its great use of drama. and I felt that Marissa was overused for drama in the end XD

@SpinDoctor91 that is not true. i watched the show the moment it premiered and i never liked marissa's character. if anything i felt ryan/marissa were forced. he was always in my opinion too good for her and her constant drama
He was never gunna grow with marissa in the picture. He was always “saving” her like he had to do with his mom. I feel like once she died he really started to heal and become a more stable adult.

wow your one of the first i know of,most early fans love the Ryan and Marissa relationship.Taylor has alot of baggage as well,she is one self-loathing quirky girl actually.but i always love the Ryan and Marissa relationship the best.i still feel Ryan and Taylor felt the most forced and there relationship did not fit at all.i honestly could see Seth and Taylor going somewhere more then Ryan and Taylor honestly.then again even Seth and Taylor are weird too....Ryan+Taylor=not fitting..

@emilian4o I think her whole development in the first two seasons was really okay. (alright, we can argue about the importance of her bi-phase, but I enjoyed it ;) ) but the whole stuff going on in season 3 was just too much in my opinion. actually, the whole season 3 was too much of drama in my opinion. too many things happened that were too dramatic.
however, marissa was just used to create drama in the end. she didn't deserve that. so I think her death was "a good thing".

Ryan and Sadie are fine she came much earlier then Taylor,Ryan was ok with Sadie but i always perfer Ryan and Marissa.what im saying is that most people that like Ryan and Taylor aren't early fans.there usually younger fans and fans that didn't start watching The O.C. until Season 4....i bet that any fan of The O.C. that started watching from the beggining to the end is not a Ryan and Taylor fan.some maybe but im definitly sure not most.

to me it worked well
well, it was not fair for marissa, but for mischa barton herself, it was. I think she was a very annoying person on the set, and I read interviews of her saying really bad stuff about her co-stars. Seriously, I always adored her in the interviews I've seen with her, but now i think she was pretty mean sometimes behind the camera.

i never bought this scene being a Ryrissa shipper.most of the people that like Ryan and Taylor as a couple were the new fans that didn't start watching The O.C. until Season 4 i think...all the old-school OC fans know Ryrissa was the best! Ryan and Taylor's relationship always felt awkward and forced.
If you like how Marissa treated ryan and like the relationship as a whole, then you'll suffer the same outcome :)
