Eventide dev here: the output gain sliders will go up to 200% in the release version. (But they didn’t in most of the pre-release versions, so that’s our fault)

      Thanks

Hi Peter. Any plans to add dynamic options to the eq bands? With this added feature, SplitEQ would render the all other EQ and transient shaper plugins out there virtually obsolete. DO IT! Er...PLEASE do it! 😎

Hi. Very interesting EQ-approach to bring those common concepts under one hood to have a fast workflow. Is it possible to independently shape the Q-factor for transient and tonal energy within the same band? If not that would be a great additional feature imo.
Also it would be a good thing to address the cramping.
CPU could also be more optimized.
      Thank you. Cheers

Wow. The bass example really floored me. I play and track bass regularly and that balance of clarity without boosting fret noise (esp on roundwounds and a heavy hand) is amazing. Gonna mess with Sonible entropy and see how far it can go in the same direction. Eventide has a Super elegant plugin here!

This is a HUGE game changer wow! Added this to my Must have tools I need NOW: gulfloss, smart EQ, soothe 2, and now the split EQ. So many tone shaping things that make complex problems easily solvable.
edit: this video won me over and bought the split EQ. And it seems I also already bought the gullfoss 😂.

This plugin should win some kind of major award (i.e. Nobel Peace Prize in DSP or something). Also, I've gotten to the point where I won't buy a plugin unless Mike has covered it here. Indeed, if Mike had a nickel for every plugin I bought he'd have like $17.05

Bought it even though I own SPIFF, Soothe 2, Gulfoss, all of Sonible’s stuff, etc and I STILL think this has a very unique place as a go-to for initial, quick frequency manipulation. So many amazing use/cases and sound design possibilities here from cleanly removing the drum transients from a soul sample, de-easing a vocal’s sibilant transients whilst boosting the air via an eq boost, removing Al transients from a reverb to create something ethereal or perhaps even more pillowy/less noticeable, adding authority to a rap vocals low frequency transients, changing the tonal emphasis of a sound or group of similarly voiced sounds so they can better work together… Incredible!!!

  • @soulsonic

Just picked up Sonnox Claro and this comes out! Soundstaging will be more dynamic when mixing using this. Looks like a new must have until every intelligent eq has a transient handling feature. Thanks for the video, Mike!

It kinda reminds me of multiband compression but with a little more control. Instead of just messing with attack/release of a frequency band to manage transients, you have a transient shaper built within each EQ band... That's pretty cool!

This is the new kid on the EQ/Transient block and an absolutely must have for both audio repair and enhancement. I see a slew of creative possibilities as well with the M/S and panning capabilities of the separated transient and tonal information. I've been waiting for something like this in a single plugin. The only thing I think they need to add is the option to set the bands to dynamic mode. Hopefully, this will come in an update.

Boz Digital Labs' Transgressor is one of my favorite plugins & used in every mix due to its ability to EQ the transient & sustain portions separately. I have used it for years to remove cymbal bleed from my drum tracks. So, this idea is not new, but what really is? I do prefer that your EQ frequencies in the transient & sustain portions are not the same in Transgressor, but this plugin gives you more bands to use so maybe that difference doesn't matter in practice. Either way, plugins like this are a godsend.

    • @thesoundresidence
      @thesoundresidence 2 года назад +4

One big difference is that the Transgressor is level/threshold dependent as far as transient detection is concerned, and make you more in control of what is concidered "a transient". This one is not. This one detects transient more like the SPL Transient designer (not level dependent)...
I love the Transgressor, but this one is different enough to earn its place in my plugin folder... This one also have the panning features, which can come in super handy :-)

If you own SlickEQ M, and either of Melda MB crossovers or Entropy EQ, you can do this. I wish they’d just make them into one plugin like Eventide did, it’s very useful. Parametric EQs have probably the best workflow of any kind of audio tool, they are so intuitive. It’s why I enjoy dynamic EQ, Spectre and SlickEQ M so much.

Thanks Benzon.. Folks seem stuck on comparing it to existing EQs or other plugins. It’s a challenge for us to explain that what we’re doing is fundamentally different and new. It’s gratifying to see that the folks that give it a try, get it.

I wonder if similar effect is possible by using two parallel compressors with attack/release set for transient on one and tonal handling on other compressor ?

Thank you Mr. White, excellent video as always! Any way to insert third-party plugins separately on the transient and tonal outputs? While SplitEQ already knocks it out of the park, the ability to insert plugins would knock it out of the county, IMHO.
