I don't understand why there are so many negative and derogatory comments on here. I am 65 and always enjoy all the "how to" videos that are available from such young people. Unfortunately while so many of them are obviously very intelligent and have a very clear understanding of their subjects, very few are able to so clearly express what they are trying to demonstrate. This was an excellent "how to" video that provided detailed step by step instruction that most anyone would be able to follow. Thank you so much for one of the best "how to" videos I have ever seen on RUclips. Even 5 years ago you were quite a professional with a real knack for teaching. I wonder how much better you are now.
I totally agree Jim. I knew nothing about the subject and found this very helpful. I have almost universally found that the stupid comments come from people that have never contributed anything to the world. The comments are usually semi-literate if that.
most and for some. want a perfect how to videos thats why there was a negative reactions.
I agree.
@MAX Points 099 I agree with you, he explains it all very well.
I'm with you , Jim He did a fine job of making it simple to follow. And he didn't presume knowledge on the part of the viewer. I find a lot of online comments to be without "filters" from the writers. You and I come from an era where we used manners in speaking with people. Those have sadly faded and been replaced by rudeness. The online world is still an untamed Wild West.
Are you setting the bios to boot off the usb? It has to be the first hardware device the computer looks for to boot off.
Random comment to point this out on, but funny how the only way this video is now outdated is that now, "The Famous Mac book" does not have a USB port.
u should pin this
@@poopjockey4858 Wait, don't you notice that the comment and the video itself is 8 years old?
@@enriquetitan06 ik but he should still pin it
Excellent job,
A complete beginner could easily follow the steps that you clearly demonstrated.
I'm a complete beginner I was pleased I never had any difficulties doing this. Indeed the steps was clearly demonstrated.

I clicked on this video because I saw how young this kid was an saw 350k views. You know the young people know the most about computers. He made this video with senior citizens in mind. Kudos kid.
Fox Hunter Hahahah. No he's not. Or if he is. He's not that lucky... if u know what I mean.....

I hate the stereotype that children know more about computers than their elders. If it were not for some talented engineers of my age and older these kids would not have computers to play with. What ever the device you are talking about, it was conceived, designed and built by people in their sixties through 90 years old. Admiral Grace Hopper USN wrote COBOL back in the 1950's and she was 86 when she died in 1992. Children are not any more adept at mastering technical skills than people in their 30's and up. Older people have been taught they can't understand computers by young people - and most of them have barely any knowledge beyond basic user commands. The fact is many senior centers in communities all over the US teach older people that operating and using a computer is not impossible, they just have to apply themselves. That being said, this kid is remarkably well informed but I will bet you he learned it from an adult. I worked for more than 30 years in nearly every part of business and government computing and networks ranging from ARPANET to IPv6 technology and I can tell you no one I learned from was a kid in school. I just hate hearing people repeat that old BS about kids being more able than adults with computers. They may have more experience with playing games but as far as real programming and use of computers ranging from PCs to Mainframes, there have been a lot of older adults who were the engineers that made it possible. Older people need to stop believing this wives' tale and start learning again. Keeping your mind active is the best way to keep yourself alive and aware of the world around you. Never stop studying - life is not better with an empty head.
These Videos are so nostalgic, I remember back in those days I would come back from school and just check if there's a new OSFIRSTTIMER video every single TIME!
Same here. I miss coming back from school and going on my computer to see if there's a new OSFT video. I also remember hanging out on the forums

I congratulate you! I am a high school teacher and I see how my students waste their time. You are an example! I love that you are very detailed in everything you teach. A good teacher fearlessly teaches even what may seem obvious to many.
THANK YOU!
by far one of the best video I have every seen on youtube. The way you showed every step and did not skip any steps was excellent.
I'm glad this guy did a step by step even with the USB. Many people use computers and have for years. But keep in mind there are a lot of people that are just getting into how to use a computer. Props for a nice positive tutorial!
Install the operating system in a multi boot from a live USB. You could even fully install the operating system to a portable hard drive or USB by clicking the install button and choosing the right place to install it to within the live USB. The install icon is usually on the desktop.
You're the best, Philip!! Thanks so much for very clear concise directions and a smooth and logical delivery. I'm a retired IT support person, but I needed a bit of clarification as I it's been a while and I didn't do a lot of this sort of thing. All the best! - Mike
Thanks kid! I'm no techie but I totally understood everything you said, I had a hell of a hard time configuring the Bios but eventually I managed. Keep making tutorials, you're great!

Well done on providing a clear tutorial. Your presentation style is clear and easy to follow. Don't be concerned about the negative comments - 87,000 people do appreciate your channel !
Really liked your tutorial, thank you for making it! I recommend this video to anyone wanting a Linux live USB card. Informative.
I watched about 1 and a half minutes of this and was already blown away by your presence and how very clear every step was that you described. I was just looking to find a good tutorial on creating live usb, you delivered in spades.
He delivered kings, straight 13's. (I'm talking about cards)
So, here we are 7 years later, and this is STILL one of the best and easiest videos to follow for this process. It's amazing how few mention UUI or similar. Most just go into "Install it on your USB drive, then start up your computer and boot from the drive."
I watched another where the guy LITERALLY spent the first 10 minutes "umming" and "uhhing" his way around his own computer, and then told you how to install Linux FROM a Linux system.
This is well done, easy to follow, direct and to the point.
He stuck the usb in right the first time

Phillip, I did exactly what you said to do and now my system has Linux OS. You are one smart person who gives directions clearly and easily. I thank you much! For someone as young looking as you are, you sure are computer literate. You should do computer teaching. Thanks again.

Hi Phillip,
Thank you so much for making this video. Being a bit over a half century old I always have some difficulty getting things right on the computer. Your video was thorough, well filmed, and did not leave out any steps because you presume I already know how to do something.

Good job on your tutorial. Although some make negative comments because you get so basic it never hurts to simplify something. More advanced users can just skip the parts they don't need. Again great job and thanks for making this one!
The moment you showed where to stick the thumbstick I immediately subscribed. Not everyone is this thorough.
Dude you're awesome, it worked like a charm! I watched other videos but they were too long, too much talking and didn't work. Your video worked great!

I've looked at two other explanations of this today. Yours is the only one that actually works. thank you.
Great job on the tutorial. It is easy to follow and your explanation is great for 55-year-old non-tech grandma. Thank you for doing this. You just saved me $70. Please keep doing this and ignore negative comments.
This is really helpful.
Thanks man for the tutorial !
1:24 though you could get a USB to 30-pin connector or a USB to lighting connector.
Yeah even if you could an iPad wouldn't be powerful enough and I don't think there's any ISO writer apps for it
Yes
The reason I REALLY love this is because the portability. As an artist (specifically graphics and sound for games) I want to be able to not have to carry a laptop around all the time, but just the "hard drive" so to speak. I want Ubuntu because of things like GIMP (which can be on windows) but also the open source for programming it to my specifications. Great tutorial man, this helps me, and lots of other people a lot. Very well composed, easy to follow video, I hope to see more of your videos.
this is the greatest tutorial ever. if everything was explained like this, life would be much better

So after I use my Linux operating system and remove my sub frm the pc and restart it will my windows load up ? Without any loss of memory on both os !!???
I'm not sure because mine booted successfully after removing USB drive. I tried BackTrack5r3 on windows 10 Pro 64-bit. I did not loose any data on my PC.
Yes. Windows will load because the Linux OS is not on your hard disk or the drive Windows is installed on.
Does it matter what distribution we use?
In some ways, yes. With Linux, it's customizable and open source so you could make it an OS of your dreams. But, you would need to understand Linux altogether. So, if you're on a low budget and you wanna get things done, use Linux. Windows has many features and doesn't need a lot of knowledge to make the theme a little different. macOS is very hard to change, and it's also hard to edit the files.
I cut a hole in the back of my iPad and drew on the USB logo. It doesn't work and the IPad won't turn on anymore. Any suggestions?
Ethan Ford Get a new iPad. You fucked up your iPad.
Ethan Ford Draw the Apple logo on one sheet, draw the Ipad homescreen with all your apps and such on another page then tape them to the Ipad screen to make it work like a flip book. Once you do that your Ipad should be good as new with USB capabilities.
Dude your a life saver!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!

Hi Filip, thanks. Very clear explained! I would say it is very professional. You are gifted in teaching, lecturing. Just go on! Blessings! Many here just do not know, what they want to say. ( When mixing sound together, make sure that all video parts - episodes are the same noise level. Many times machine shows equal dB sound level, but when reviewing it again - you can hear the noise level difference between the two. Must adjust by your ears.)
Thanks Philip. Your instructions are very clear and helpful. I am now up and running Linux Mint.
This young man was clear and concise. He made every step simple to understand. No complex words or details.
As per the negative attitude of the majority... regarding RUclips comments: it is clear to understand that...
Today's social structure can not see, hear, converse, or observe with any constructive aim.
The majority are nothing more than social media bullies.
Unable, incapable, to communicate or carry on constructive conversation...this group of 20,30,and 40 year olds have no clue as to the real world...everything has to have no cost. They have devalued religion, politics, community, education and day to day life...they are so absorbed into cyber space/internet ...that they have no understanding of using their hands, eyes, and mind. Take their phone away and they are lost...
Parenting is the mist obvious shortfall...when a parent allows a 9 year old to think they are gay or transgender (both of which are nothing more than a state of mind, not a bodily chemical inbalance)...no effort is being made to solidify community, education structure, or the correct positive balance of life.
Today's society do nothing more than point fingers with malice, accuse without proof, drag up dirty laundry to gain media attention, just to be bullies with power and tweets.
We will implode ...destroy ourselves...
We are a joke as a collection of individuals...
Where people who perform on tv or movies are seen as heroes ...same with athletes..
Today's world value system has no core, no center, structure...NO CHI.
you know if you didn't put the "parenting" part I would agree with you
people can be gay and transgender regardless if their parents know and or accept them
why did you have to put that
you look so happy in yours videos its almost creepy
Good work kid, very good explaining and everything.
