    Printmaking processes can be technically complex, and as we see here, the artist has to know what they're doing, and have a plan to arrive at the finished image. Sunny Kabocha is obviously experienced and skilled, and she's using sophisticated equipment at her school, but silkscreen is a press-free printing method that anyone can try at home with a basic starter kit. We are so glad she created this in-depth look at her process!

    In my visual studies degree, I printed a hard ground etching and transparent (50% transparency base) screen print layers on top. This video brought back lots of memories! Love the prints. :)

    Yes, you're right. It needs to look like that to achieve the right aesthetic. If it's too perfect, it will look like it was made with a digital printer. My suggestion is to leave at least 1 inch of space around the print and 2 inches at the bottom to place your artist stamp, series information, and signature. Good job!

    As a beginner it's better to do *it on 1 side but I believe that you can put the emulsion on both sides (some people do) to be safe in case there is a bit of dust on 1 side; but the time of exposure may be longer

  • @cbpuzzle
    @cbpuzzle 6 месяцев назад

    Cool process. I can see why vinyl adhesion from a Cricut cutout is faster and easier. No emulsion, light bed, multiple drying. Way faster. With a CNC router and a drag knife any print size is possible.

    I noticed on the pink layer you weren’t always pulling or flooding in an even stroke, what’s the reason for that? And why do multiple strokes sometimes? I’m trying to get better at printing and your work is lovely 😊

    • @sunnykabocha
      @sunnykabocha  6 месяцев назад +1

      that was not well printed don't take advice from me 😭 but sometimes you need to pull multiple strokes bc one isn't enough for the paint to go on the page

    I screen printed for over 33 years but still enjoyed watching your entire process. I have to admit I did cringe during some parts but it all comes with experience. I have been working on other printing methods for several years but screen printing is my first love. I like following your progress as an artist and this video was really fun to watch.
