Printmaking processes can be technically complex, and as we see here, the artist has to know what they're doing, and have a plan to arrive at the finished image. Sunny Kabocha is obviously experienced and skilled, and she's using sophisticated equipment at her school, but silkscreen is a press-free printing method that anyone can try at home with a basic starter kit. We are so glad she created this in-depth look at her process!
I’ve never tried silkscreen printing or am planning to, but its really interesting watching you explain everything 🥰
thank youuuu it is nice to see it visually
Thank you Sunny! I remember I requested and you said you would definitely make a video/tutorial on your silkscreening process! This is the best I've seen on RUclips, you're amazing Sunny!!
i'm so happy it helped!! 😘😍
Thank you for sharing your creative process with us.
In my visual studies degree, I printed a hard ground etching and transparent (50% transparency base) screen print layers on top. This video brought back lots of memories! Love the prints. :)
aaa so cool, thank you!
Thank You keep making them
You’re so talented! The prints look luxurious because of the care and labor you put into them!💕
thank you!!! 😌❤️
It turned out beautifull! Such a cool process, and you captured/ explained it so well.
Ooh so excited to see this!!
Your opening was great... I chuckled and then I had to watch the rest!

Props for posting on art prints as well as t shirts. I print USA flags on everything and would like to print the canton and paint the stripes for obvious reasons.
Thank you for sharing ❤❤
Love this video, Sunny! And the end print is fabulous!! ❤
awww thank you leslie!! 🥰
I did silkscreens at Uni for very short time for one day that I forgot the process. Thanks to refresh my knowledge. I love your work ❤❤❤❤😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊
I definitely want to get back into silkscreening. I did a little bit a few years ago for the first time in a long time but I wanted to get some more equipment before I got back into it again.
those flames boots are everything 🥰
and the prints look great, i really like when i can see the colour layers not matching perfectly. gives a print more character and individuality😀
i agrée!! 😍🫶🏻
You are a hoot! Love the video

thank youuu 🥰
Oh! Great tips☺! Thank you~
i love the overlapping colors! :))
thank you my muchacha
I screen printed for over 33 years but still enjoyed watching your entire process. I have to admit I did cringe during some parts but it all comes with experience. I have been working on other printing methods for several years but screen printing is my first love. I like following your progress as an artist and this video was really fun to watch.
omg i'm sorry i made you cringe, im not so skilled at it 🥲
I love you art💖👏💖👏💖👏
thank you 🥰🥰
As a beginner it's better to do *it on 1 side but I believe that you can put the emulsion on both sides (some people do) to be safe in case there is a bit of dust on 1 side; but the time of exposure may be longer
I so love silkscreen!
it's good isn't it!
@@sunnykabocha yes. I'm very sad right now. I 'm also an artist and your videos help me remember what I love .
Very nice ❤

@@sunnykabocha ♥️♥️😘😘
I noticed on the pink layer you weren’t always pulling or flooding in an even stroke, what’s the reason for that? And why do multiple strokes sometimes? I’m trying to get better at printing and your work is lovely 😊
That fire alarm set off my fight or flight 🥲🥲🥲🥲 lol
HAHAHAH
👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Curious,, are you going to try other types of printmaking ?
i've done etching, and lino cut in the past!
Que tinta usates

@@sunnykabocha ahahhahah u can try oil base and print on glass

@@sunnykabocha that’s too bad i find studio/room tours to be inspiring well maybe you’ll feel like making a new one in the future 🎨

Hello, are you already a master's student? Two months ago I finished my degree in visual arts, I still have to graduate, I feel proud of everything I have learned, I love sculpture and screen printing, but I feel very exhausted, I don't know whether to stop for a moment or continue.
hi! yeah i am AND CONGRATS!! stop if you need a moment but if you find yourself more comfortable to keep going then just continue on 🫶🏻
I found this after reading about Andy Warhol's silkscreen art. Seems complex!
