So, Thursday (Trilogy part 2) has a narrative to it. Basically, we're introduced to this girl named Valerie who says that The Weeknd, Abel, can have her on Thursdays and that she wants him to ALWAYS think about her any other day, but Thursday is HER day (kind of obsessive) to be with him. Later on, we learn more about this girl and how she always wants attention and will do anything to be noticed, so she's a bit desperate and lost without Abel. Abel explains that he doesn't love her the same way she does and that she's just "another person" to him. His love for her is so empty in fact, that he says he needs to be on drugs to stay with her. Valerie develops strong romantic feelings for him and wants more than to just be "some other girl he sleeps with (specifically on Thursdays)". The story ends with Abel cheating on Valerie with multiple women which makes Valerie freak out. She begs Abel to stop seeing these girls because without his love, she is empty - well he says he doesn't care about her x__X It is assumed she takes her own life in 'The Birds, Pt. 2' hence the gunshot and crying, this is ENTIRELY metaphorical by the way. The significance of the birds and the screeching crows at the end of the song is explained in this line. "Sandpaper kisses, papercut bliss Don't know what this is, but it all leads to this You're gonna leave her You have deceived her You're just a bird (Just a bird)" - Crows are intelligent but represent evil and dark things as well. Abel is manipulative and bad, and Valerie has foolishly fallen in love with a "bird" Abel is the antagonist in this story, however, Valerie's obsession and needs aren't realistic either. ------ Track 7-9 have their own individual story. BUTT track 10, Valerie, shows his true feelings about the whole situation. He regrets everything he did and feels guilty, but it's too late. PRETTY FUCKING TRAGIC 😬(sorry for the long explanation LOL)
Omg this was AMAZING thank you so much for explaining this to me! It is extremely sad but I feel like it really encompasses society rn in general and our generation with how ppl interact w each other the whole “fuck feelings” lifestyle or whatever- my little sensitive heart can’t take it 🥺🤧
@@laceyolives7215 you skipped what in my opinion was the best part of the song. In the future, try not to skip too much. But apart from that, perfect reaction.
Rolling stone is actually a message to his og xo fans when he says when your used to my face and my mystery fades he is using this as a metaphor, stating that once his mysterious persona in the media fades, and people get to know him, they will lose interest in his music. So he's telling them he hopes they stick with him even when everyone starts to love him
Lacey Twenty Eight is an extended metaphor for him going mainstream, the whole bit about “did you have to tell the world, now your girls all wanna fuck” is that everyone is talking about him now which makes sense since this was a bonus Trilogy song and wasn’t part of the original 3 mixtapes. Everyone knows about him now. The music business is all up in his sheets and if he’d have known, he would “left (you) in the club.” But I’m a huge Weeknd fan and i prefer the analogy where he’s only talking about a woman 🙈
I'm late on this but Heaven Or Las Vegas is one of my favorites on here. The entire song is a metaphor to the lifestyle he chooses to live. The heaven he talks about is his own world he has created with drugs, sex and partying, and since he's the creator of his own world, he calls himself God. Heaven also compliments him constantly being high on drugs, especially on the serotonin line where too much use of ecstasy will cause your serotonin receptors to malfunction, leaving you no choice but to rely on drugs and medicines. It can also be interpreted as him saying he's not happy with the relationship he's in, which is why his serotonin is gone (serotonin is the chemical in your brain that makes you feel happy). When they ask for heaven, The Weeknd answers with an invite to his own heaven, meaning he says whatever the woman wants to hear for him to get in bed with her. He also blames his father for his actions and the lifestlye he was living at the time "I'm paying for all my fathers sins", since he did not have a father figure he was easily brought into the dark side of the world. The title is also an alternate title for "Heaven or Hell" since Las Vegas is notorious for having the nickname "Sin City" where all kinds of dirty deeds go down, and clearly The Weeknd has a dark history with that city (which he even revisits in After Hours). The title also works as a philosophical question "Keep living my sinful lifestyle in Vegas and I'll go to Hell, stop and I'll go to Heaven". In summary The Weeknd is not calling himself God, but using religion as a metaphor for his lifestyle and the world he's created.
when he says “let me fall out of love before you f*** her” in the birds pt 2 he’s saying that’s what she said to him (cuz she got attached even tho he told her not to). The beginning of the song is also her crying and shooting herself. Its my number 1 crying song
the knowing was ab a girl he was messing with and she cheated on him and he found out “i know everything” and so he cheated on her hence why he said “but baby its ok” and “ima let you taste her i aint washing my sins”
The Birds is about Abel being a bird and going from nest to nest. The girl is pleading with him not to sex up another girl until she falls out of love with him first. He revisited this song Call out My Name except for the girl (Selena) was the bird and Abel got his heart broke. Rolling Stone is a letter to his fans. Not about drugs but about going from an underground star to a true superstar. He is singing to his fans. He even published a letter to his fans telling him what the song means. He is going for the big lights and he knows he will lose some of his OG fans in the process but until then.., I Got You
Lacey Big Quint is a legend in the RUclips reaction community, he was reacting to these mixtapes when they initially came out in 2011 and he attracted a huge XO following. He’s just fun to watch but he always has “break time” when he gets halfway thru the album or song he’s reacting to and he’ll eat a snack and just talk about other things on his mind. He doesn’t really do many reactions these days but check out some of his stuff, it’s entertaining.
