    The extra round tube extension on the dust bag is to hold the red cap when the bag is attached to the saw so you don't lose the cap.

    That Mafell might only be 18V but it's the new type of li-on batteries that have more power than the rest of the batteries

    • @brianwengel6894
      @brianwengel6894 3 года назад

      I don't know about the "new type", but it's very vital to talk about the amp! If it draw the double amps compared to the 36v machines there's no difference. It says nothing about the efficiency! And those 18v batteries are 8 amps batteries!!!!!!! I assume the 36v machines use 3-5 amp batteries.

    Inedible saw. Said bye bye to my gutless festool 36v and got this. Bought 4 18v Metabo 10ah tanks for it.
    Incredible bit of kit. The fezzy was good but this is a cut above. So much so, I traded in most of my fezzy gear... router, drills, carvex and went all Mafell. Spent a pretty penny this week but I’ve been installing kitchens/interior finish work 20 years and I’m at that stage of life where I want the best tools available.
    Don’t get me wrong... I’ve still got some amazing battery dewalt/Makita stuff and my Kapex isn’t going ANYWHERE (unless Mafell release a cordless CMS - Mafell... PLEASE RELEASE A CORDLESS CMS) but Mafell really does outclass everything I one have ever owned.
    The attention to design and end user is astonishing.

      @climbjay I just jumped the gun and bought 2 of the Metabo10ah batteries for it (I havnt yet received the saw as it is on order). I noticed in this test they used the 8Ah battery, and in advertising it has the 5.5Ah tank, which made me panic and think i bought too big a battery. Does the 10Ah tank fit it well? Cheers in advance.

    Mafell is not available in Australia. The cross platform batteries is a great feature.
    The fact this saw perhaps is not lacking power compared to the 36 volt when considering metabo and other manufacturers 8 amp house batteries.
    Metabo make a 5.5 amp hour battery with more power compared to their new compact 4 amp and and 8 amp hour lihd batteries.
    The scribe feature is very good.
    The other thing is festool in their 36 volt cordless plunge saw they have a negative rake. What is the purpose of that? Is that the same as a scribe?
    I'm wondering the power of a 36 volt compared to this mafel. The other question is what is the size thickness of the blade. Festool contractor saw have a thin kerf blade 1.8 mm thick. The plunge saw have the 2.2 mm thick.
    Festool contractor saw cuts the same distance from their rail system as the plunge saw at 2.2 mm thick.
    I had ( before they were stolen ) the festool cordless plunge saw and the festool cordless contractor saw. I found the cordless contractor saw working a bit cutting hardwoods or even 18 mm form ply when cutting on an angle. Mind you I had a 4.2 and a 5.2 amp hour battery.
    I thought the contractor saw could do with a bit more umph.
    If the 5.5 amp metabo battery could be a great benefit in using the festool contractor saw.
    Also on hard woods I had the 12 tooth blade with deep teeth so removing material and great for ripping hard woods it was like cutting butter.

    Does that "score cut" feature actually move the blade inward as described? I have the saw but have never tried that... because I certainly don't want to re-cut the rubber splinter guard back any further. That's my cut line!
    I've heard the score cut _doesn't actually move the blade!_ Is this true?

    • @AndreasSchlitzkus
      @AndreasSchlitzkus 5 лет назад +1

      It moves the blade, and it works fantastic. Best feature of a very good saw. I like the corded, as it has endless power, is lighter, more durable, more powerful & "cheaper".
      I use a collecting hose, so there is no "freedom" benefit.

    Here lads can I have the Mafell saw?? hahahahahahaha!! God loves a trier .. Hates a feckin' chancer though.. I know, I know lads.. Love the buzz between u 2 guys.. It's always very informative and I want one of those Mafell Plunge saws.. Get the limo to drop it round my Gaff please Roger mate.. LMAO.. How much is the Mafell again? 600 Pounds? or Euros? I'm chancing me arm again mate.. I think the Festool is a great saw but I bought one of the Bosch professional range with the massive carry case a couple months back.. The case has more plastic then COCA COLA have in a million bottles of COKE mate,, I've never seen so much heavy duty plastic round a great Circular Saw that cost me only 86 euros in a sale..
    Can I ask one question of uy guys if that's ok.. I want to buy a really good blade for it so is a blade with 80T a good option and what kerf should I get for cleaner cuts.. I cut some melamine board the other day and the blade I have on this saw left it looking worse for wear on the edge of the cuts. I think I will be using the scoring cuts from now on too.. I've never used that before but I'm sold on that tip now.. Thanks for a great video again guys.. Brilliant.. LOVE THE CHANNEL too BTW

    I love cordless. I do hate the fragility of the batteries. The question is why aren’t companies like Dewalt, Makita improving their saws with features included in the Festool and Mafell. The cost difference in manufacturing an average tool vs a great tool is minimal. If Dewalt (for example) wanted to add comparable feature set to its track saw it would add less than $15.00 to the price its the tool.

    No riving knife. I'll take a mechanical safety measure over an electronic one every time. Sheet stock great. Lumber hardwoods and high tension stocks not so great. Without stripping a tool down how can you possibly know it is well designed? The Festool, for example has mixed/mismatched switch circuit wiring and an Industrial Revolution era brass end bushing (not a bearing) on the rotor end. Really poor design choices. Pull the Mafell apart then maybe we can have a good conversation about design.
