I started working out with my dad’s old weider weights and courses he had used back in early 60s . I started in the late 70s and in the weider book it had Reg Park and he was my first bodybuilding idol.💪🏼
I have started doing so and will continue to do so. I suffered from many health issues before which made it difficult, plus, my goal was to create an old school gym with the actual equipment that they used to train with to give an accurate and unique visual experience of how these old timers used to train...i think it's mission accomplished. I know of no other channel that went through this effort to present the workouts of the old timers and demonstrations using the equipment that they actually used.
@@GoldenEraBookworm I hope you are well on the mend. I recently found your channel and im finding it facinating as well as learning great ways to train. I bought one of vince gironda's books from your website and im very much looking forward to reading it. the problem with alot of modern training programs is they are based around using alot of PED's
Reg was a beast! I would say he was one of the first "mass monsters" of his time. His shoulders, chest, arms....just massive. Most guys weren't built like that back then. He made Reeves look small.
Another Great VIDEO VERY similar to BILL PEARL S and PAT CASEY SHOULDER ROUTINE.YOUR videos are by FAR the BEST AND NOT some PHONY instagram BS!!! GO CARLOS!!!! ey
The reason today lots of people think the behind the neck military press is potentially bad for you is an article that Michael Jordan’s personal trainer wrote in the late 80s or early nineties. It’s not any more dangerous than any other lift.
It would be amazing if I could have had all the training knowledge I have at 65 when I was 15...or even just a few years ago...i have always pushed myself very hard ,but never considered how important science is to health, strength and fitness.i most definitely believe Reg park figured it out at a young age and was an incredible natural athlete...
Never heard of Mel vin Wells until now but he definitely had the delts & back muscles & Reg Park is definitely a top 10 all time bodybuilder in my opinion.
Thanks for the video; always love to watch stuff on Reg. When Arnold describes someone as one of the all time greats and an inspiration, that’s all you need to know. Interesting to see these lower rep ranges, this is more strength building than hypertrophy.
Rear neck presses are clinically underrated and aren't utilized today because it's a "bad exercise" and "muh science based approach". Yeah, it's bad if you have poor shoulder mobility, or you don't warm up properly or lift too heavy, but if you approach it progressively, it's a fantastic exercise that will BLOW up the delts while INCREASING shoulder mobility. Good video here.
I remembered the behind the neck press being called the military press, and the barbell would touch the traps at the bottom of the movement. This recollection was from the early 70's.
The chest expander is one piece of old equipment that I have no plans to use. I remember as a kid my dad had one and i managed to whack myself in the face with the wooden handle as it slipped from my grip
I used to do press behind the neck for decades, but now I only do front or dumbbell presses as I was warned off it as being an injury-prone move. I have a pinched nerve in my neck that I attribute to that movement.
Great analysis, thank you! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Fun fact: Reg Park taught Arnold Schwarzenegger how to use steroids. See that look that Reg had that bodybuilders didn't have not too long before he came around? THAT'S what the general 'look' of using steroids gives a person. They barely knew much about the science part of training back then, but they had steroids & steroids work.
@GoldenEraBookworm You're the one who is clueless. Wow. He was Arnold's mentor. TF you think he mentored him in? Doing maths? You can look at Reg later in life & clearly see he used gear. You can see he was experimenting on himself still. His entire physique was different then. Sorry but many of your heroes took gear. One day, you'll understand this, if you ever do. One cycle & you'll see what gear does vs natural training. I mean you do know that Arnold took gear right?
Steve Reeves too. Those guys who Arnold mentored under, ALL helped him with his gear use. Do you think Joe Weider wasn't putting Arnold with guys who could help him in this regard? "They just hung out. No gear use talk. Other guys were doing that, but not Arnold. " -Golden Era Bookworm
@Shuck-Shick-Blam did you know I am an actual bodybuilding historian, and have helped give one of the most accurate recollections of Arnold's history? I even spoke to his first ever coach. Who do you think you are talking to? Your favourite gym bro? Im an academic...look that up if you dont know what that is. There is ignorance...and then there is you.

He worked the two hands DB Press hard there . . . 8 sets of 2. It's great you've included exercise demos with this video!
I’m a 80’s baby that enjoys this content it’s refreshing . Todays bodybuilders are so fluff and they lost the true art of training the body
Creativity was lost around the 90s...its a muscle factory now
Great video on the legend himself reciting his signature shoulder delt variety / circuit program.
The demonstration clips are a good touch ✔️
Yep, all my future videos will contain demonstrations
Love that Reg Park Top Sir

What might be the benefit of twisting the dumbells and bringing them together at the top of the exercise as opposed to just pushing straight up?
