Composers and musical humorists, Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo, known as Igudesman & Joo and dubbed by The Los Angeles Times as “the kings of classical music comedy” join forces with two queens of musical virtuosity, to create a royal musical jam, filled with fruity pieces, such as “Mambo” from Bernstein’s West Side Story, and music by Beethoven, Schumann, Ravel, Piazzolla and Igudesman & Joo.
The dazzling percussionist and composer Lucy Landymore brings good vibes to the mix with her Vibraphone and other exotic percussion instruments. Audiences may already be familiar with her vibrant drumming through her tours with Hans Zimmer, and she appears regularly with Igudesman & Joo as the duo’s principal drummer, when they perform with symphony orchestras, and can play along with whatever antics the duo throw at her, often with scene stealing moments.
And more than just one of the finest pianists of today, Yu Horiuchi, uplifts us all with her soulful voice, singing classical songs in a way that no other singer sings. Her theatrical prowess gives Igudesman & Joo a run for their money, and she is a seasoned collaborator of the duo.
This show, “Mambo Jambo”, besides being full of musical and theatrical mumbo jumbo, will have something in it for everyone, action-packed with music from all genres, and non-stop magical mystery.
