Charlie Hopkinson is a comedic impressionist, impersonator, voice guy, whatever you want to call it who specialises in voices from current television shows and films. His standup is a character act about a retired maths teacher, his standup set includes impressions of Sir David Attenborough, Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Peaky Blinders, Tommy and Arthur Shelby and Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.
Always looking to update my roster I look to try out subscriber suggested impressions in the impressions challenge series before honing the best ones. Recently I have added Peaky Blinders and Marvel / Avengers characters to my arsenal!

Low Budget Animation - Stickman sketch remakes of Iconic Tv shows and movies.
How to do Impressions - An audience lead tutorial series where I attempt to pass on my Impressions knowledge.
Dubs - Comedic dubs of iconic scenes with new dialogue, (My Peaky Blinders and Lord of The Rings dubs have grossed over 6 million views on Facebook)

I started learning impressions in 2012, at the age of 20. You can follow my full impressions journey in my new ‘How to do impressions’ tutorial series
After graduating from the University of Warwick in the summer 2013 he took 4 months out to concentrate on RUclips videos full time, including producing his most viewed video to date ‘Morgan Freeman and 40 other impressions’ with just over 12 million views. This foray into being a ‘full time RUclipsr’ was cut short as he went travelling for 3 months before starting a 2 year teaching Graduate scheme with Charity ‘Teach First’.
While teaching he has performed in and narrated the 4 episode series ‘Lookalikes’ as Morgan Freeman. The show and the narration received a positive reception. The show aired on Channel 4 during the prime time slot of Friday 10pm for three weeks. It is now currently available on Netflix. Charlie also performed with other well known impressionists for an unaired pilot.
Charlie has worked for several prominent brands in relation to their products, including google and formula 1.
Since the summer of 2016 Charlie has once again dived into the world of RUclips, for the first time producing content on a weekly basis. He is also focusing on live performance; he has performed in live venues a total of 3 times to date.

I'm a master impressionist but your Morgan Freeman (Obviously Ross and Josh's) and perfect, but but that depth is beautiful. I've spent countless hours focusing on mouth position and how to slow down. It's not easy to mimic people but when you can and you actually get it, it's beautiful. I wrote a letter to Kevin Pollack and actually wrote be back with great advice. He said take your time and look for the little things that aren't there.

These are VERY helpful, Charlie! I used to do a few voices back in the day, not nearly at your level tho. I found it helpful to hear someone else doing an impression of the person I was trying to sound like. Especially if it was a famous person whos original voice I was very familiar with.. As far as the faces, I couldn't agree more! If you watch Voice artists, Seth Macfarlane for instance, his face contorts to whatever character hes currently voicing. LOVE it, Charlie....THANKS!!!
I found the same thing, and some of my impersonations are not of the actual people, but of the people impersonating them. My Jimmy Stewart is actually me doing Dana Carvey doing Jimmy. My Arnold is Pablo Francisco doing it. So if I ever get my Morgan Freeman right it will probably be Charlie doing MF. When I do Carl from Slingblade I have to contort my face and neck to get it to sound right, just like when Billy Bob does it.

You should definitely try to convince Morgan Freeman to do an interview together. I'm sure 10-15 minutes once in a while for something fun wouldn't be a deal-breaker even for someone as busy as him. And now with the virtual state of the world, it's the best shot you'll get :D

Charlie, your natural voice is nice too! I noticed as you're doing these, (I'd noticed before, in the 'pandemic' and the 'Game Stop vs Wall Street' vids) slot of it is also your breathing. I don't know if that's specific to Freeman, as I'd never seen a couple you do. But I'm subbed to a Welsh guy, the Creaky Blinder, and only got the reference after seeing you explain it in a video of your show. Excellent job and you're both adorable young guys! 👍🥰✌😷🎃

uh, it seems like your secret is looking a lot like Morgan Freeman. Don't know if anybody else noticed this, but you look like a white Morgan Freeman, didn't know that was possible till I was looking at the side by side. Christopher Lee, Charles Dance, Nick Cage, these are all impressions I can easily nail, mostly because I kinda look like all three of those guys. Not to take away from your obvious talent for timber, cadence, and comedy chops, my theory is that doing an impression of someone who shares similar facial structure can give you an advantage.

@@CharlieHopkinson Facial expression, it's been like a 5/10 since the 1st video but there's some aspect to the voice that's missing and can't quite put my finger on what it is :P - been playing around with the S sounds like Chris Eubanks, is there a similarity there?
@@StevenVoiceOver yeah there is that hint of a lisp, facial expression, make sure you cheeks are taught, lips loose but jaw tight, if that helps at all?

is it my impression but the voice is kind of breathy. Deep and breathy and with some textures in the throat, a little raspy?
Man... my voice is not able to go that deep for that kind of strong chest resonance. I guess it takes years for my vocal cords to grow that thick.
