It's almost frightening how lovely tamako market is. I find myself repeatedly reminding myself that this isn't a reflection of reality; life can't be as happy go lucky as this show is.
The kyoani team was inspired by reality when planning the series. I think Tamako Market wants to express the emotions one has when having a positive perspective on life. So in a way it can be true.
I rewatched Tamako Love story the other day, and the ending to that movie has one of my favorite uses of cut to black ever. The timing was *chief's kiss*
I like Tamako market because of the sense of community it provides. I grew up shifting from place to place, never really finding a place to belong or making friends outside of school, I didn't have any relatives my age and my parents were always busy working so I practically grew up playing on my own and watching TV. The thing that striked me most in the show is how when Tama returns from school everyone wishes her "okairi" and to contrast that with myself I always returned to an empty home or a home filled with busy people with no time. I think most people in urban areas have a life like mine. Tamako market shows such a relaxed environment, your home just doesn't end on the outside of your door, the entire shopping district is your home filled with people that love you. In the movie when mochizo decided to go to Tokyo for college the people in the shopping district were sad and so was he because he had to leave the place he grew up in but I will never be sad or attached to any place. Tamako market is a celebration of the mundane because the mundaness of life becomes special when you know that everything you are doing with or for people that love you and people that you love, you don't feel like a cog in some face less machine, you feel like a member in a huge family.
I can't help but notice all naoko yamada works have the big sister little sister dynamic flipped. Makes you wonder what influenced that choice as it's clearly emphasized hard in her work, tamako and anko, yui and ui, the silent voice sisters etc
I've had this video saved in my Watch Later until I watched Market and Love Story. I finally finished the movie too, so now I can watch this video. Having said that, thank you for accurately recognizing Kanna as absolutely the best thing about the show. 💚
Fun fact: some animators of KyoAni had to learn how to make mochi so they could animate it. Even until this day, some of them still eat their own home made mochi -w-
Another banger. One after another this man keeps knocking em out of the park. I haven't watched Clannad yet, so I haven't seen your video on it. You better believe it's on my watch list though. I've heard great things and I'll miss one of your essays if I don't watch it. Two reasons worth watching a series for.
My previous comment was written before I watched the video Now I can say I mostly agree with you. I still think that Kanna is by far the best thing this show has and it's criminal that you only dedicated her one sentence and scene. About Midori, I thought she liked Mochizou and that's why she reacted like that lol About the father of Tamako, he reminds me of my own father, and that's why I don't like him that much; it's just a kind of person that I don't think is bad but it lacks a lot and therefore I cannot say it's a good character. But yeah, the only real character arc was Midori's. Other than that, not a lot of character development. I would've loved more of Shori for example. Even Mochizou and Tamako didn't have a lot of development, and they have their own movie. Of course, Kanna doesn't need development, she just needs a hammer or something heavier. She even overcame her fear of heights. I want to be like her when I grow up
This comment seems a lot more positive than the last one, so I’m glad I could help lol. Also nah, Midori has feelings for tamako. They tell the viewer a couple of times but they try to keep it rather subtle. I almost missed it my first time through. Kanna is indeed the best thing about the show
@@Totaraum i wouldn't take the other comment as negative but rather as a pretty harsh critique. I don't hate the show but it offers almost no plot so is pretty forgettable. I mean, my opinion on the show didn't change, in fact it was similar to yours. I was just disappointed, and I still am, because the first 3 episodes were one of the best things I watched and then nothing happened
I’m planning on it, but not while the strike is still there. It expires in 23 days, and by then I’ll have an edited version of the video that hopefully won’t get claimed the same way
When I started watching this show I instantly thought "This is K-On 2". And it's certainly is. It's just cute girls doing cute things. Kanna more than the rest. I loved Kanna. Kanna is the best thing in this show, I was always thrilled to see her again in another scene. Having said that, that's pretty much it. This show is indeed just cute girls doing cute things. K-On is more complex than that, and I love it because besides not having a real or complex plot, you feel that the story is going somewhere and that there's a goal point. But with Tamako Market that didn't happen to me. I just couldn't care less about the bride thing. Furthermore, I think that Choi and the prince are kind of forced characters. Fairly enough, Choi is like Asuza so I don't dislike her. But there's no emotional thrill or feelings to the characters. The only character whom I could empathize with was Midori for like half an episode, and that was it. They even killed the romance between tamako and his neighbor whose name I already forgotten at the start of the show when Midori asks Tamako what he feels for him. There was no mistery, no hope, no anything. Just cute girls doing cute things And the movie... Oh my god what a disaster. The start was just weird. Imagine not having seen Tamako Market and just going straight to the movie. What was that transition from Choi and Dera to the actual movie? Anyway, they movie is more forgettable than the show; I watched it 2 days ago and I don't remember a lot. It was ok but forgettable. But I won't be able to forget the end of the movie. Just "I like you". That was it. That's all the emotional explosion the movie gives us. And it ends like that. Disastrous Though, I gave it a 7/10 in MAL (anime and movie) and of those 7 points 6.97 are for Kanna. Thanks Kanna
It's almost frightening how lovely tamako market is. I find myself repeatedly reminding myself that this isn't a reflection of reality; life can't be as happy go lucky as this show is.
True, but that doesn't mean we can't come close with a little effort. I think that's what they were going for
The kyoani team was inspired by reality when planning the series. I think Tamako Market wants to express the emotions one has when having a positive perspective on life. So in a way it can be true.
I don't remember liking Tamako Market all that much after watching and I'm a massive fan of K-On and Lucky Star
that's fair
I rewatched Tamako Love story the other day, and the ending to that movie has one of my favorite uses of cut to black ever. The timing was *chief's kiss*
Agreed, especially as it cuts back in three times before rolling the credits

very well said, the sense of togetherness is one of this show's biggest strengths!
The man speaks wise word. Kanna indeed is the best thing in this show.
5:16 scooby doo
Tamako Market is probably one of kyoani's most underrated shows. It definitely deserves alot more appreciation and so does your video.
Thank you! I agree that Tamako needs more attention
I can't help but notice all naoko yamada works have the big sister little sister dynamic flipped. Makes you wonder what influenced that choice as it's clearly emphasized hard in her work, tamako and anko, yui and ui, the silent voice sisters etc
Huh, I never noticed that before. Maybe she's brought it up in an interview or something
The worst thing about Tamako Market, "The Plot"
Luckily for the show there isn't much of one to begin with haha
I gotta say... Your spoiler warnings are the best! Great video, you really summed up pretty well how this anime gets into our hearts.
Thank you! I’m glad you find them as enjoyable to watch as they are for me to make
Dude, no joke I finished the Tamako series just last week and now I get to see a great video on it, awesome!
Sounds like a pretty great coincidence to me
I've had this video saved in my Watch Later until I watched Market and Love Story. I finally finished the movie too, so now I can watch this video.

This video really helped me get closure on my feelings for this show, it's such a comforting watch. I subscribed!
Happy to hear it! I’m glad you liked it
Yo this was great! You deserve a lot more views for this one! (And so does Tamako Market, it's such a gem.) Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words! I'll be sure to keep at it
What a coincidence, I just finished watching this show a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed it.
Amazing video man!
Thank you!
Fun fact: some animators of KyoAni had to learn how to make mochi so they could animate it. Even until this day, some of them still eat their own home made mochi -w-
That’s really cool!
I really loved Dera in this show, he made this show really funny
I agree, I thought he was a great break from the flowery nature of the rest of the cast
jesus its so hard to watch this and think to myself "this art style is too much like k-on"

Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you find these entertaining. Definitely watch clannad soon, it’s fantastic

Thank you! I’m happy to hear that
Great video man 👍,

@@fromant65 ah, I get it now. The character progression definitely isn’t as pronounced or well executed as k-on
nice video once again
Thank you!
th eone with the girl wiping her red glass what was that called
If you’re talking about the clip 11 seconds in, that’s kyoukai no kanata, or beyond the boundary
relaxing
this is gonna sound fucking cliche as all hell but i wonder if the haruhi video will ever come back

i see well good luck great video as always
6:28 personally I thought Dera Mochimazzi was the best part of the show lol
Dera is cool and all, but can he build you a house?
DAAAAAKEEEEDOOOOOOO
Dude please make like a spoiler free video for me. I just want to watch the video
I feel for that, but I promise it'll still be here once you've finished watching
@@Totaraum Bruh It's going long time I'm still trying to finish Clannad After Story
I disagree, Mochizou is the best thing about this series with Kanna being a close second 😤
I can't watch this it's spoilered make a new version without
Beat Snake Eater without taking damage then we'll talk
