  • German Chocolate Kisses are so delicious that I just had to make them since I can't buy them fresh in the US. In my video, I made a little mistake. I should have mixed the gelatine in some water before adding it to my mixture. It still worked out but the inside of the kisses sort of fell apart after some hours. No problem if you eat them right away though 😁😉

    I am actually a little embarrassed because I made a mistake in the video: I forgot to soak and delude the gelatin! Usually, I avoid the use of gelatin and I haven't used it in probably more than a year. It's an old habit from the time in Germany when the mad cow disease scared us quite a bit. We went mostly vegan during that time for years and then later only bought organic meat products from a farm close to our neighborhood. So, I am not a routine gelatin user and here you have the proof. I was actually wondering, why the filling of the chocolate kisses fell apart after a day and then I realized my mistake. Don't repeat it!

      Der Fehler im Video war daß Du nicht einen knackigen Bissen aus dem Chocolate Kiss genommen hast. That would’ve brought it across better than ANY picture or Video!

      Hello I would like to suggest that for this who are using powdered gelatin to dilute it with very little tepid water and while the machine is still running to add it bit by bit to the meringue so that the granules will not stick to the bowl … lovely recipe thank you ♥️♥️♥️🌺

    I lived in Berlin as a teenager from 1988 to 1991. I used to buy these from a bakery on the street that I live on. I miss these. It's been 33 years since I've had one. I think I might try to make them. My daughters would love this. Danke!

    These were my favorite as a kid growing up in Germany. Hard to find them here in America. Now I can make them myself. Much thanks!

    OMG I had these in Germany. I could sit and eat an entire box. I didn't have the pleasure of eating them from the bakery.

    You may be able to get the sheet gelatin at a local bakery or pastry shop, I believe they are only sold here in the USA to professional Bakery’s and such. The KISS’s look Amazing! Can’t wait to give it a try. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes.

    these do not look hard to make, but the polishing of procedure, to get the syrup just the right temp, and tempering the chocolate, , you would need to make this a couple times to get it perfect, looks like a Kids Favorite recipe to me.

      It is indeed a kids favorite and no German kids birthday is happening without chocolate kisses 😀😁

    I am so sad Lidl, Aldi or Trader’s Joe’s here in America don’t sell these! They have marshmallows covered chocolate which are years light worse than these. I loved the ones that came in milk, white and dark chocolate. The best!!!

    Do you put the kiss in the roll or eat them separately? Thank you

    • @MyGermanRecipes
      @MyGermanRecipes  4 года назад +2

      I cut the roll open and put some cold butter on the lower half, then I put the chocolate kiss on top of the butter and cover it with the upper half of the roll, squishing it 😁. There is a picture on the blogpost where you can see it.

    One of my favorite things when I visit Bavaria, is a product called Seelachs, it’s like an imitation smoked salmon. I can’t find it in California or Arizona German stores. I keep trying to look for a recipe but can’t figure how to turn a pollock into it. I would be so excited if you or one of your readers knew a recipe.

      Lachs is the German word for salmon but I don't know what recipe you are referring to since there are a lot of recipes to make it. If you have a picture of the meal maybe I can figure it out? If you have one, send it to mail@mygerman.recipes and I can take a look at it.
