Thelma Thrift thanks so much Thelma!
GIRLLLLLLLLL, You look stunning! And such a beautiful collection
Immortal Hourglass aw thanks Dia!
Love your collection!❤
Patty Feb thank you!
Awesome video thank you I appreciate your worth
Thank you so much for the information. I am excite to learn how to test and spot Bakelite. It is great to learn for people who have been doing this longer then myself.
Woolworth's and 5 & dime stores where most of the Bakelite was sold is funny to me because they also sold Fiesta Ware which is highly prized by many collectors and the stores are like our 99¢ stores today!
Debi Mitchell lol that’s so funny! However I doubt anything in our dollar stores will be sought after or even last that long other than in a landfill.
I have a really cool vintage bakelite mahjong bracelet too with the butterscotch and dark apple green color combo. i wear it all the time. Estate sale in NYC, it was really a great price.
Trace-Elementz13 that’s awesome! I love it. I need to wear these more. Now that I’ve organized them it should be easier.
Leo Hendrik Baekeland , patented on December 7, 1909.
Butterscotch is my favorite!
Erin Klossner yes! I love it. Such a beautiful color.
Slag glass factories started the term end of day. The Rootbeer and cherry red are my favorite Bakelite colors!
Debi Mitchell cool. I apparently need slag glass. Saw some in dacrazycards video now I need it
So many pretty colors! Thanks for the info, I don't know that much about Bakelite. My mother-in-law has a fantastic collection.
Karen Leabo oh is love to see it one day. I’ve picked it up here and there. I love chunky jewelry pieces so Bakelite is right up my alley.
Perfectly imperfect video... I loved watching .. great, honest, informational.
Kennetha Doten haha! I love that description.
شكرا لك على هذه المعلومات
انا امتلك بكلايت اسود لكن لماذا لاينجح بالاختبار السيم كروم وصودا الخبز؟
I thought if it smell like vapor rub it was celluloid...... I'm trying to figure out if my tiny collection if I own bakelite i as told if it smells like burn rubber it's bakelite now I'm confused. Because collection btw.
Lovely collection. Thanks for sharing this information and knowledge with us.
martha posey thank you Martha!
Fantastic video!!! You have a beautiful collection of Bakelite. You made me laugh when you said you found pieces out in the wild...I pictured you in hunting gear but instead of a rifle you had a net ready to scoop up the Bakelite you found LOL. Love the outtakes. Thanks for sharing Carla
Babsy1316 lol don’t forget my credit card in my other hand lol.
Great collection, can't wait till I find one in a jewelry jar
Urunique 2me2 fingers crossed!
Rubbing did nothing. But running under hot water really brought out the smell. Mine is old. It is heavily carved with a flower and leaf motif, toffee coloured. It was given to my kids in the 80s by my mother in law as a dress up prop. Wasn't really a fan until I found out what it was.
Tyfs learning so much about Bakelite
Treasure Jensen awesome! Hope it was helpful
I love the video. Thanks for the info, I'll will definitely use it!🙋🏽♀️
Sharon Martin happy hunting!
nice collection! lol the outtakes . I’d love to get my hands on what they call “end of day “ they mix all the stuff at the end of the day together. they are pricey of course.
Vintage Discoveries me too! Maybe one day Sally!
Very informative and thorough. Thanks 🙏 😍😍
Debbie Persaud thank you. Glad you enjoyed.
❤❤❤
Really great video and helpful information! You have a lovely collection:) You have a calmness that is so nice to hear :) on a side note - I love the color of the wall behind you in this video! Please, if possible share the name and brand of the paint color :) thank you!
Looking very royal today, Princess.
Trudy Herring thank you!
멋진 수집
Another great video....thank you!
Harleygran thank you so much!
Great video!
Boujee Bear Vintage thanks April!
what do you mean by "found out in the wild" ?
Hi PC, At 9:10 the bangle looks totally end of day, some days they only made 2 colors so end of day looks can be a swirly mix and have very modified color differences. Oh yeah, I have the lozenge necklace at 16:45 too and found matching earrings about 3 years later in a jewelry jar----love those jewelry jars!!!
Trace-Elementz13 that’s awesome! Those pieces pair really well with modern outfits. I love making vintage pair with modern.
Love your collection
Patzycraftzy Patricia thank you!
Thank You for the wonderful information. Now when I go thrifting I’ll know what to look for. 😂
Believe 2113 yay! Glad it was useful.
We downsized...and all I have left is my pie server. (It was a gift from our daughter-in-law) My best find was my red Bakelite puppy. I sold him to a local collector. Your collection is fantastic.
Oreo Tookie I’m jealous, that sounds awesome the red Bakelite puppy.
@@PrincessCasserole Oh I was so jazzed!!! It was deeply carved and cost 50¢! Thankfully the woman I sold it to SUPER appreciated it and cares for her Bakelite! The rest wasn't as grand, just plain Bangles, sold on eBay. 😁. But I'll never part with my yellow pie server! And hubby bakes pie, too! The one thing I'd love is a Bakelite bunny!
You look great. I love the look.
Vincenza Kenner thank you so much.
Beautiful collection
Perla’s Precious thanks Pearla.
You look very lovely Carla.Very interesting video thank you.🤗
Carol Brand thank you so much!
Thank you
Kathy Prusak thank you!
Do they make them in wine color? I have one carved in crimson color. I think it’s Bakelite. Thank you...
Lourdes Arocho yes I believe so. Google Bakelite colors and you’ll be able to recognize them
The yellow color is called butterscotch.
J. Dearman that’s it! Goodness I could not remember that for the life of me.
I have two small barrettes, I don't know if they are Bakelite, but they say made in France on the back. Do you think it's a good chance they could be Bakelite?
Hiya ❣️ I'm a 2 week newbie to your channel. I love your top. So pretty 💜. Adele 🇬🇧 xxxxx
Addy-Arachne Vmac aw thanks! So happy to have you!
@@PrincessCasserole Thanks ❣️
Beautiful collection! I had heard that there is a 409 test. Does using it damage the Bakelite in any way?
ThatsSassy no it shouldn’t damage. I’ve heard they reformatted 409 so it doesn’t work anymore, but I’m not sure because I’ve never used it. I use the semi chrome to polish silver I can’t get clean tho so at least it’s double duty.
Since I collect dice and bakelite so those dice you have are the best part of the collection as well as the reds...what favebook groups are you in? Im in a few but currently looking for more both for identification and buying/selling
neggispringfeild I’m in a bunch lol. I have one for Etsy. But I don’t know if you sell on there or not. Thrifty Treasures, There’s Always Room for Jewelery are two I’m in.
@@PrincessCasserole Thanks for the reccomendations actually all week Ive been going through hundreds of pounds of jewelry sorting for sales, the etsy store I was consigning to moved out of state so soon Ill have hundreds of vintage clothing and other collectibles returned to me but dont have space so Ive been hunting groups to work on that a bit too and starting my own Etsy shop
neggispringfeild if you haven’t set up your shop there’s a code in my description for 40 free listings. I like my Etsy shop but I need to list more more more.
@@PrincessCasserole O just used your link Ive had an account but never a shop....but trying to figure out a name is soo hard lol. Fortune's Find, Jewelr-A, Treasures End, Vintage Hoard, The Spoils.....sadly Im a total nerd when it comes to fantasy adventure so half the names sound piratey or fantasy like....but its definately one of the hardest parts of starting a shop lol
neggispringfeild lol totally is!
Is it just fall like colors
Cathleen Merten yes very fall!
Creamed spinach or baby poo colour?
Trudy Herring either of which can be the color in a diaper lol
On those two buttons - you should make them individual brooches, that way they can be clustered together, and if you find more buttons down the road, you could affix them all to a denim jacket (or something else, I also default to a denim jacket).
You've made me wonder about a bunch of hoop earrings I purchased, I think they might be bakelite! I just thought they were really cool - but they have the signs you talk about, where the post of the hoop is embedded in the hoop, and they are thicker hoops, with an almost carved pattern on the outside.
Thank you for the very informative video, it's so great of you to do these!
Anne Hurricane yes! It sounds like you might. You know you can send me a photo and I’ll tell ya what I think.
@@PrincessCasserole Ok, I will try and figure out how to do that - thanks for the offer, you are so sweet!
