Thanks! I learned a lot! I came here to learn a bit about Bakelite. I’ve seen Bakelite bowls, electrical junction boxes, and radios. You’re very pretty. Nice video. Thanks again.
8:24 your video is great right away I just want to let you know that I love it, and I love your demonstration and breaking down video, but I have a carved yellow orange, kind of a more of a orangey tone, but not completely pumpkin kind of like a butter scotch Ambre anyway what I want to know is how can I tell if it’s not plastic?
"French ivory" IS celluloid! 😄 I've just watched a historians video about the vintage plastics, especially celluloid and he said, that "French ivory" was the marketing term that celluloid objects were often sold under. The invention of celluloid is actually a result of the search for a replacement for ivory, because there weren't enough elephants to sustainably satisfy the demands of production. Also: celluloid itself is transparent, too. It was colored. Otherwise celluloid film couldn't have been used for fotography and cinematography. There are no wild elefants in France!🙃
Hi 👋🏾 New and Sub… Great video and Thanks for sharing I’m just getting more into vintage jewelry so I’m trying to learn about the pieces I want to sell & kept for my own collection this video helps
New here! Hi Catherine I'm trying to learn anything and everything about jewelry. I have always loved vintage, antique jewelry, and many more things from the olden days, because of my grandmother Fina. And I love the vintage look because of the movie LA bamba. Lol. I totally was totally Enamoured by the dressing of the women in the red lipstick.lol
7:01 OK can you clarify on that mirror? I have similar items like that and you’re saying it’s called French Ivory, the same ivory that comes from an elephant 🐘 or no?
I would love another video on Bakelite. I struggle with it, I can identify more easily on the silverware, but as far as the jewelry I struggle, and I know I missed out on some awesome pieces. I’d like to know more about Shultz? 🤗
Great video. I don't think you're probably pearly carved bracelet is Bakelite I have never seen pearly Bakelite. It might be a different kind of plastic that they used formaldehyde to make though.
Nice work. Regarding the hand mirror, it seems you were told it is French Ivory. The term "French Ivory" refers to an imitation ivory, and is not actually ivory. This faux ivory is made from celluloid. It could not be REAL ivory because the back is far wider / bigger than any slice of elephant tusk could ever be. Thus in my view, you have celluloid.
NOT COMPLETELY synthetic White Asbestos IN Bakelite “ Important NOTE 📝 is that Bakelite was the first company to manufacture plastic from phenol resin and formaldehyde in 1907. However, vintage Bakelite telephones contain up to 5% amosite asbestos, which can become very dangerous if it is disturbed.” Just sayin 🤷🏼♀️
Lmao you have a “Jesus” playlist! I hate to say this but…Jesus wouldn’t like you. I don’t see you putting yourself out there doing videos! Nope! Just a complainer. Wow! Why don’t you DO something instead of complain? Get off your ass and look up shit and read it for yourself rather than complain about someone extending you the courtesy of doing that for you
A quest for vintage plastic toy animals brought me here. Thanks for your entertainment and education!

You are excellent at using descriptive text to sell items... That is the secret for items going high at auction as well.
I would love a Bakelite video. I love how I'm learning so much. Great video 👍 👏❣️
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed xo

Aww thank you! Hugs from Long Island!
Thank you so much for the in-depth video you just helped me buy and sell my first ever piece of Bakelite! The smell test is where it’s at!
Any fan of Cinema Paradiso is a friend of mine!
Me too! ❤️
Yes Bakelite video please…
So lucite is basically acrylic?
Bakelite is so hard to tell sometimes. I learn tricks then promptly forget them. Great info!
I’m glad you enjoyed!!! Xo
Great video. Cinema Paradiso is my favorite film of all time. The rumor is that it is about Felini's life.
What about a black bakalite carved cuff? Is it worth anything?
7:01 OK can you clarify on that mirror? I have similar items like that and you’re saying it’s called French Ivory, the same ivory that comes from an elephant 🐘 or no?
What about faturan, copal amber, and phenolic amber? Anything you can comment about those?
Hi, can you give me information on manufacturers for lucite jewelry? I’m looking for the clear bamboo collection.
I would love another video on Bakelite. I struggle with it, I can identify more easily on the silverware, but as far as the jewelry I struggle, and I know I missed out on some awesome pieces. I’d like to know more about Shultz? 🤗
I love Shultz! I’ll def be doing the Bakelite video. Thanks for watching
Hi can someone tell me what the THERMOSET thats used for the HOUSING of WATCHES like ARMITRON and TIMEX?
Love Italian cinema. Fellini is my favorite!
Yes
Mirror back is celluloid
Madam, these materials are nowadays not manufactured any where in the world?
Great video. I don't think you're probably pearly carved bracelet is Bakelite I have never seen pearly Bakelite. It might be a different kind of plastic that they used formaldehyde to make though.
In memory of Anthony Baekeland, succumbed Rikers Island, 20th March 1981 🌻
😍😍😍
I'm confused… the Lucite items appear transparent rather than translucent. Translucent is semi-transparent. More foggy but almost see through.
Are you talking jewelry ? I’ve seen much coveted and fought over pieces of furniture made of vintage lucite that is very valuable
Also simichrome polish test. Just don’t hot pin!
It is said leather loses its scent after 60 years... Perhaps celluloid loses its camphor scent after a long period. Just guessing at that.

Thank you for explaining this!! Yes I was told French ivory lol
@@luckysweetheartvintage476 So, I can list my stuff as French ivory? Sweet.
Also it’s making me laugh how you essentially cut yourself off multiple times in the editing 😁

Бабы любят трындеть 11 минут видеоролика и лишь 1 минуту показывают ДЕЛО !
French ivory is actually not ivory; it is vintage celluloid.
Bakelite has asbestos in it - hope ur not using the ole hot pin 📍 and see what it smells like to identify it ! 🤦🏼♀️
You like to hear yourself talk. Blah blah blah blah
