In the Gilding video, I thought this was COMPO!!!!! Only a Swede could do this so perfectly it seems to have come out of a mold! Lime Wood is what Grinling Gibbons used for his miraculous carvings. Now, I see why he used it. We (& later our Decorators/Architects) have used Compo from a company in Chicago, which casts off old wooden originals they keep in a fireproof vault. Watching you work is like traveling back in time to watch the Swedish sculptors in Chicago, creating the originals!
Nice n sharpe tools, its Stunning mate, do ya always glue pieces of wood together? Got to be better to the pocket! Thanks for sharing. Cheers Andy.... Yorkshire.... England
It depends a little from what kind of Wood Im carving in and of course how much I use a specific chisel. In limewood, walnut or pine its not needed that much, perhaps every other day or so. But if it is oak it could be several times a day, depends on how much I use a chisel and if it is much carving against the grains.

What method do you use to sharpen your chisels? I carve also and have a difficult time keeping them sharp. Your work is beautiful.
