That old bulldog ain’t gonna let you sit that drink down anywhere I can promise you lol
That’s a fact. When I was a kid and rode with my dad I’d tighten dash screws to keep busy!😂
Yes SIR I know that all to well drove the DM 6&8 hundreds RD 800 R MR dumps mixers packer roll offs all camel back suspensions big rears you don’t enjoy coffee in those trucks but I loved driving them all I had a way to drink coffee in them rough riders didn’t lose much 😅when I first started trucking many spills
I just wanted to actually thank you for this video my dad and grandpa both drove old r model Mack’s out of Birmingham Alabama for almost 20 years brings back old memories as a kid riding in that buddy seat. My dad ended up driving a truck for 32 years and was forced to leave the seat from health problems. and he loved just watching this video that brought back so many good memories thanks you so much.
I am so glad that I could do that for you and for your father. That's an incredible comment and I have a b model Mack coming to the channel he may be interested in that! Thank you both for watching, I wish you guys the best! Thank you for watching it really means a lot!
Nice to see the old rigs being put to use
Absolutely! Thank you I appreciate you watching
That time lapse out the plane window is awesome!!
Thank you! I really appreciate that!!!!!
Hi Joe, I'm Pat, nice to meet you. I'm glad I came across your channel early in the game. You seem like a good soul with your feet on the ground. I wish there were more guys your age who thought and acted the way you do. Classic trucks, classic songs. You my friend are an old soul in a young body 😅 Keep doing you brother. I look forward to your adventures.
Pleasure to meet you pat and my pleasure to have you watching! I greatly appreciate that and I like to think the same! I will do my best and I'm excited to have you along for the ride!
Perfect song for the video’s beginning! Drove one very much like that for years, pulling a flat bed and a boom trailer hauling concrete blocks. Great construction site trucks! Thanks for the memories!
Nice video, looking forward to more. Got to love an old mack. I have an 86 superliner that is well used, but holds it's own on the farm.
Thank you! That means a lot And I believe it! They were built tough to say the least!
Awesome video man. As someone who’s lived here 22 years these winters are no joke. 2 loads of barley to fargo on a January day beats a guy up. Beautiful rig and great drivin 👍🏻
Been a MACK trucks fan all my life!
Man I love that classic MACK engine grunt, had to subscribe. I hope there will be more MACK videos coming!
There will be plenty more! Thank you for subscribing!
the most ideal camera position inside the cab of a truck 😊🎉
I agree and I appreciate that!
You just can't beat the Mack. The greatest of all greats!
That's right!
Great video! Only you would take that trip and ride back - hope your boss knows what he has 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you! I must say I had a blast lol. And he definitely does, he treats me really well to say the least
So proud of you dude! You deserve this shit and having fun living life! Have fun bro
Thank you! I really appreciate that. You guys seem to be killing it too! I miss my man
I really dig that Bobcat looking color scheme. Gotta love an old R model. I miss seeing more of them.
Me too! Thanks for watching
Old girl Is cold 🥶🥶🥶! Old Iron still working Is awesome
Absolutely!
I 1st learned to drive in 1960 B-61 Puppy a 2 stick Mack with a bedroom in the back!!!And feel in love with those mean-ole Mack's and bro it would shoot flames out both stack's and get up there in the triple digits and pretty much hold it's own. But of course this was the good-Ole days of truckin!!!
That's so awesome man! Like you said the good ole days!!!!
Could you include content on the drivetrain, transmission, and such? That tri-axle has to have some guts. I would like to hear about it.
Yes I can! It will be the last episode of meet the fleet!
Great content!!! Love the R Model! Your clips and editing are the bomb. Your choice of music is spot on (but I’m an old guy, so … 🤷♂️). Watched several of your vids, this being the first. You’ve got me hooked. Keep it up, brother!
Thank you! I really appreciate that! It means a lot to me! I'll be keeping the content coming!
You had me at Steve Miller’s “Big Ol’ Jet Airliner.”
That's so awesome! I really appreciate that. Music is huge for me and that's what I heard in my head on the way out there!
Love SMB!!
@@Only4Trucks Jim Croce as well! Back in the seventies a guy from Bristol here in England went to the US for a holiday and through no fault of his own ended up spending the best part of ten years over there. He shot a whole heap of super 8 footage then edited it down to about three hours and it was shown on television in the early nineties. It's up on RUclips, check out 'Elliott Bristowe, Road Dreams', the part covering winter in Iowa will bring back happy memories!
Great videos brother! Keep making Philly proud!
Thank you! I'll be doing my best!
The R model Mack is the John Wayne of trucks. brother, They are rough and tough .the very first trucking job i had i drove a R model Mack, then the boss man got me a CH 613 Mack,
That's awesome!
That was a warm North Dakota day, 2° outside winter
Hahaha that's so crazy to me
I just subscribed because i LOVE A R model Mack truck and that thing looks sweet. Grew up in Northern Illinois and my Dad loaded gravel in many of them. Probably not the most comfortable but it was a hard working truck for tough men who built this country.
I couldn't agree more! I love the R model and they definitely were one of the strongest hardest working trucks! Thank you for subscribing and watching! Plenty more to come!!!
3:11 Was in Grand Forks many years ago, desolate is an understatement... An eerie feeling in the countryside with nobody around.
Wow! Yes it is!
Yep, old dog watching you drive that old dog! When you're younger and start out with such a love of trucks and working and equipment? You'll be able to rewrite the book! It's just because you're bobtailing. Don't lock in the rear. You have 3 axles behind you. Less drag, less sidewinding. No fear!
That's awesome! I couldn't agree more!
That is a great Tractor, I hope your boss bought it!! There one tough truck and there's nothing nicer than a R Model all dressed up and that one has a lot of goodies that I noticed to start with!! I drove many RModel,s when, I started driving Truck back in the 70,s.
Yes he did! And I agree! Thank you for watching!
Stretch those gears out a little more bring up those RPM’s should take it out on the open road it looks like a 1070B Maxitorque 12 spd those are great gear boxes
It's an Eaton 13 speed, and once I got out of the rough weather I opened her up lol
Man that music is perfect! 😂❤
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Must be a back breaking run with camelback suspension !😆😆😆
Living my dream. I love MACK’s
I love them too! And we share the same dreams!
I love mack r 600
Me too!
Be safe trucker those bobtails are slick as whale shit in the snow
Yes sir! Thank you!!
About a year ago I bobtailed my newly purchased 2001 Pete from Cleveland to Philly. At night the dashboard lights didn't work, I was flipping the toggles up and down and hit the in-cab light which scared the shit out of me. The Pete ran hot and had low volts all the way, which meant I couldn't turn it off.
Wow, that's a bit scary, but I'm glad you made it my friend
Nice trip to North Yankton! Cool truck too.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
What's up driver, nice old Mack trucks, sounds good and looks good. Did you have any log book driving back to Pa, did you see any dot on the way home to give you any trouble. Stay safe out there my friend and keep the videos coming and always travel safely catch you on the next one.
Hey man, I appreciate that! I did run a log book or 2 on my way home 🤷😂 but I seen a few state troopers on Minnesota and Indiana but that was about it..no serious DOT. 2 weigh stations and the other one or 2 were closed. Overall real smooth trip home. I appreciate everything and especially you watching! Hope to read another comment from you on another video!
If it has camel back rears you won't have a power divider air switch. It has a peanut housing that lock the rears
You are correct. Learned that about 15 mins later lol. Had to phone a friend.
Qq
Nice truck the upside down steering wheel would drive me nuts
Hahaha I hear ya, and thank you!
You killed it bro
A roll of duct tape on the floorboard is the world's best drink holder.
Speed limit 😂😂😂 and love them bulldogs
Hahahahahah me too!
Is this in Jamestown ND? I recognize that K-125 cabover in the foreground. Looking closer I can definitely see it’s there. I don’t remember this truck though
Yes it is!
That was a very enjoyable video....SQUIRREL! K100 at 12:15.
I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching!!!
like the sound of the truck man
Thank you!
Good old classic music fabulous
Thank you! That means a lot!
I don’t think PA to ND is across the country boss. That rig is beautiful tho
Technically it is, may not be all the way across but it's across 😂 but I had to attract people somehow lol but thank you! I appreciate that
That’s a nice old Mack!! I would buy it!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching
Keep cranking that puppy don’t lose the heat in those cylinders
10-4! Thanks for watching!!!
Cool stuff man 👍
think you and I would not have any problems with the music selection on a road trip...
That's awesome!!!!!
Cool old truck. Great video.
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Nice vids. Thumbs up. Easy question… can I add classic rock to my own YT vids without penalty? I thought they came after you for posting pop music no??
Thank you! If you are monetizing your videos your not aloud to use any music unless you have the copyright licensing for it. Which would mean your paying through some sort of subscription. But I don't know if you can get any licensing for BIG popular songs like these. I didn't care if it was monetized or not, I just wanted to portrait my view of the trip through the music so I ate the penalty. Showing the viewers what kind of person I am through the music meant more to me
@@Only4Trucks that’s the perfect description of your choice!! I’ll keep that in mind
@@MrRoberoni117 thank you I really appreciate that! I use Adobe premiere pro to edit my videos, it is simple for me as I taught myself with a little help from RUclips at times. But I just got into the software and spent hours figuring things out. I googled the easiest for beginners and went from there. Point is they have an audio selection and through your subscription you get licensing for audio tracks and it's quite a wide selection. But there plenty of apps, websites etc that you can also pay to get licensing for their libraries of music. I would just do some googling. Hopefully you can find what your looking for!
Nice one stack MACK
Thank you!
Funny how this truck started out close to you in Macungie. Question, why did you travel so far to look at this? Are they that hard to find?
Yea they don't pop up too often, but also condition and price all played a part. This one looked like it checked all the boxes so I got on that big ol jet airliner c'mon! Lol
North Dakota gets extremely cold for me,,I do like browsing old trucks in Truck Paper and most sell to hem in ND,,what engine is that Mack?
Absolutely does! And it's a 350hp with a 13 speed Eaton transmission
i was suprised that it doesnt have jake breaks. it looked like a heavy hauler with the drop axel.
It is, it has a dynatard, just no Jacobs engine brake
Dude. ND to Philly in an R???
When did you finally stop pissing blood? lol!
I owned a 1976 R 350 HP/5 speed/w camelbacks. Ugh!
She had 9 million+ miles on the clock, but a new 350 HP block, and new 5 speed trans.
On day 1, I replaced the original shock absorber seat, with a highbacked air ride Superliner seat.
Felt like a magic carpet. lol!
I ran AMSOIL from front to rear, for 3 million miles.
Only thing that got replaced, were the U joints, and the hockey puck rubber cab mounts.
Oh, springs in the shifter, after 75,000.
The harder the work, the happier MACKs are.
I just wish I had raised the exhaust up. My right ear still whistles from that single right exhaust.
8 years later, I sold her for twice what I paid for her, with an fresh in-frame, and new clutch.
I saw her last in 2019 at the Port of Newark, still turnin' and burnin'.
Yea man!!!! And that's awesome, I loved reading that, I could just imagine the truck. Thank you for watching!
Great video. What motor and transmission is in the R model?
350 with a 13 speed Eaton. Keep an eye out for the meet the fleet episode to come on this truck!
350 with an Eaton 13 speed. There will be a walk around video next week!
@@Only4Trucks Good set up brother. I drove a superliner in the early 90s for a few years with a 2 valve 350 and a 12 speed. Loyal unit, good puller! Looking forward to the video!
That looks like a 12 spd very good trans if it is
13 speed. I love it
Need to fix that steering. That would drive me nuts.
Most definitely! Lol
Nice rig I rather have the cabover that was there myself though but I do own a 2002 mack vision sleeper truck that is for sale.
I agree! And thank you for watching!
@@Only4Trucks that mack is sharp though
It can be installed
Put your tag axle down for brakes
I don't know if it would have done more than slide but I honestly didn't think of it and wish I did. Thank you for that because moving forward I'll have that in mind much sooner
Tag on a light truck just makes for more skis. Slippery roads it’s best to slow down and use the transmission to slow down
@@robertquast9684 hahahahah that's hilarious! I love the way you put that!
Any new vids of this beast
The newest video on the channel is this truck on the trailer heading to get painted! Plenty more to come on it as well!
At least the truck can put the switch for jake brake is call Jacob Engine brake.
Hahahah yes!
I’m a long time mega fan of Mack’s from the 60s 70s 80s drove the B 81 dump R models DM 685 sx DM 886 sx RD 882 sx MR 686 COE dumps packers mixers roll offs the best trucks ever made good luck with her you will have the good ole R model for many years to come I drove a R model garbage truck with a 300 and 6 spd mud stick it had 743,000 miles on the speedometer it ran like a raped ape all original engine trans and rears just keep the fluids changed in that Mack and she’ll last forever use the original LUCAS engine oil treatment my friend uses that in his R model em6 285 every oil change 612,483 miles again good luck with her
That's history there! I have a special b81 video coming next week so please stay tuned! Let me know on those comments that your the b81 guy from the first video lol I appreciate you watching!!!!
R or U model? lol?
did u drove it all the way to North Dakota without plates or did u get temporary plates
There were plates on the truck 🤷 😂
What motor?
Welcome to the 80s kiddo.
❤
Is that a fuller 13 spd or a Mack 13 spd both good boxes
Fuller
Not a mack trans, 13 spd fuller or Eaton
Question is can you make the ride back the truck will lol
Hahahah
one stack Mack with a window in the back .
That's it!
beautiful try axle mack and I sure hope u fix her up supper good
Thank you! And we will, be sure to stay tuned and follow what we do with it. I appreciate you watching!
Lock the rears in on a patch of snow and let the clutch out fast watch your rears
Very true
Did you all that all v8 engines from Mack was build by Swedish truck Company SCANIA the Real V8 comes from them they send more then 160000 engines in to Mack
Sucking on an energy drink ain't going to help your nerves
Definitely not good for me, but i would hope to think it keeps me focused lol
I drove a superliner hauling gas I know what the camelback suspension is like your in for a long ride
I do not miss staring at a bulldogs ass all day...I'll stick with a Kenworth or Peterbilt
Lol
Demonetized 😂
It was worth every bit. I am really into music, and these songs are what I felt and was listening to taking this adventure so I wanted to portrait that and I want people to have a chance to experience the feeling. I could care less about anything else
sterring wheels off crocked!
By a longshot haha
Not a professional, put the soda down. If you start to slide you will need both hands to keep from crashing. Bad video
YUP--Nuthin' like 7-8 minutes of crappy travel video (I stopped at 7:25-I'm gone
Out of 200k views, and 1000 comments this is my first negative comment coming at my content. Congratulations! Sorry it wasn't good enough to interest you. Hopefully I can get better in the future
Pay 'im no mind. 36 years experience and just admire tough young people being real and honest.. keep it up.
I loved it. It puts you there and what he went through and what all truckers do delivering all those goodies you have. Best part is not getting my fillings loosened up but great video. You probably have done all these miles so I can relate.
aint. nothin. like the rmodel three twenty coolpower and twelve speed box oh yeah
I love it! Thanks for watching
