Some of you Troy fans may not know the history of your new head coach. I went to school with him here in Lawrence County Kentucky, in the small country town of Louisa. He was one of the best Highschool wide receivers I've ever seen. His hands were amazing, through 4 years of playing as a starter, I can't remember more then 4 or 5 passes that he didn't catch. He was catching one handed pases, before it was considered cool. At 6 ft 3 inches +, and the hands he had, and ability to out run pretty much everyone with those long legs, we was basically unstoppable at the highschool level. At one point in 1999, he was ranked as the Kentucky all time leading receiver. What makes that so amazing is he did it on a team that ran a belly, run first offense, which was the leading rushing offense in the state all 4 years he played. That tells you how special he was, and that he made the best of every throw he got, and never dropped the ball. He got a full scholarship to play at the University of Kentucky, in the SEC, but had some injury problems and some bad luck and it just never worked out, but it looks like his coaching career is heading in the right direction, so I'm happy for him.
He wore the #13 as a Lawrence County Bulldog. I know someone who has the film of the teams and his personal highlights of the 1997 1998 and 1999 seasons. If you see this, you need to post those videos here on RUclips. Also, his QB on that same Lawrence County Bulldogs team, Jason Michaels, won a national title with the Western Kentucky Hill Toppers, and is now a coach in the NFL, so you can emagine what a QB to WR connection that was at the highschool level.... completely unstoppable.
Total Class dude, Notre Dame fan since 1967. Disabled Veteran, prayers for you and your family, replanted Alabama resident since 1992. I believe in you and will root for you and Troy too!
Love thee, #WarDaddy. Looks like I'm going to have to get some Troy gear now. Hopefully ND will schedule a game or two with Troy in the future. Go Irish.
