The sweat changing colors in the original SNES MK version has been around with the Game Genie since it released. I remember playing it back in 93 with the “red sweat” code enabled. As mentioned below (and I don't mean to brag in any way) Super Ghouls N' Ghosts for the SNES is surely the easiest of the "series". The Genesis version (which I guess it's the same / similar as the Arcade version) is harder, and that's not counting Ghosts N' Goblins for the arcade (which is one of the most difficult games of all time). There's a popular hack (for the SNES version also) that prevents slowdowns similar than the one you got at 8:04, which is pretty welcoming... Although removing the slowdown will make the game more difficult ;)

Hope you do a follow up video at some point (if you haven't already that is) as there's a TON of bugs that have been fixed that are worth pointing out and many bug fix patches can be applied at the same time to really fix up a game so it can finally be experienced in the way the developers intended if they had the time to find and fix all the bugs.

I always thought the SNES version of Mortal Kombat was more realistic than Genesis. With more buttons and much better sound. No one ever really argued it in my school. Everyone was aware of the blood code on Genesis but it didn't really make it a better release. I had it on both consoles and friends would always choose the SNES version. StarFox also had a Oscillator mod that you could do to the original cart. The problem is the sound often gets cut in a way it wasn't intended. Most notably in the scene with the ships leaving at the beginning. Super Ghouls and Ghosts. Ugh- I couldn't stand the labored run, animation looked terrible and generic to me. I never played much of the original or the lost levels on All-Stars so I never really noticed the change. Now that I know though, I'll never be able to forget. Even though I steer clear of them, it will weigh on me forever.

The brick physics problem in Super Mario All-Stars is likely to be a bug and not a creative choice. The way All-Stars replaces bricks with empty tiles is handled differently compared to the NES version, inadvertently sending Mario upward. The hack simply reverses Mario's Y speed after hitting a brick.

there was a hack for Ninja Warriors Again in which they restored, blood, the ninja girls that only appear in the Japanese version, but it is no longer there I still have the modified rom and it was a good challenge for me since it also left the dwarfs with the claws, about the Super Arthur hack, please, the game becomes even easier there you lack practice on your part, even the patch includes the scene select trick.
Speaking of Super Mario All Stars, it has many patches that help not only the vanilla version but also the + World version, this is a redux that improves with blocks, color correction in Mario and Luigi's clothes, Lakitu's bug is restored when throwing the Spiny making the game more challenging, the sprite of Mario and Luigi in SMB3 which did not have gloves was fixed, if this is silly but in SMA4 they already have them and here it was only right that they put them on, this patch there is also one for All Stars+World and they fix Yoshi's sprites by removing the orange arms and if you liked the blue color of the title screen, there is also the patch, no doubt the best hack for both versions of the All Stars

The issue with the blood version of MK1 on SNES is that they didn't go far enough. First, that blood looks very pixelated, and I think they could have cleaned up the sprites for it a little. Also, there's still no blood landing on the floor, which I think the game needs to really sell the effect. Just a colour palette swap is not enough. Thank God Mortal Kombat II is a thing on SNES.
With Yoshi's Island, I honestly think you need Mario crying to sell the effect of what's actually happening there. Without that it just seems hollow. So, as grating as the crying is, I prefer it and actually think that's what incentivises you to grab him again as fast as humanly possible. There's actually a lot of sense behind the way Nintendo did it, and the hack doesn't make things better imo.
Regarding Star Fox, I'm not sure it's running smoother so much as it's just running faster. What I would actually like, ideally, is for the game still to play at the same speed at the original but at a higher framerate in general and with no/less slowdown so everything is simply smoother (just like modern games when you switch between 30fps and 60pfs). That's the real way to improve this game. When that happens, if it does, I'll be very impressed indeed. Note: I just played both back-to-back right now, and I prefer the original.
Ghouls n Ghost is basically a win all round as far as I'm concerned (the FastROM hack is great for making it run smoother with much less slowdown). The only problem with the hack is having to reach over to Select and hold it at the same times as pressing the d-pad with the other hand (meaning you are just standing still and can't even fire while trying to do the selecting). I'd rather they removed all the pointless Save/Load stuff currently assigned to the shoulder buttons, which actually crashes my version, and instead used the shoulder buttons for the weapon/armour selection. Note: I would also love it someone additionally hacked in the ability to shoot up in the SNES version (need to add in some proper sprite animation frames for him aiming up though, just so it doesn't look cheap).
With the Mario All-Stars fix for the jumping: It never bothered me--didn't even notice it before--so not sure I'd care. Although, maybe if I properly sat down and played each version side-by-side I'd actually prefer it one way over the other (although, not necessarily the old over the new). Note: Just tried it and I prefer the patched version. So I've just loaded that onto my hacked SNES Classic Mini.
Don't get me wrong, as much as I'm being picky and moaning here, I totally appreciate all the work that people are putting into patching any SNES games. In some cases, like say in Gradius III, where it removes the slowdown but doesn't actually speed up the normal gameplay, it turns a good SNES shmup with lots of unfortunate slowdown into one of the best shmups in its library.

Everyone always focused on the blood/sweat issue of MK1 on SNES. For me the much more pressing issue, and to my knowledge it has never been addressed, is the gameplay of the game. It's horrible. It's sluggish, unresponsive, and plays practically nothing like the arcade version. The Genesis version actually played a lot closer to the arcade version in terms of gameplay. It's like the SNES version was made by people that never played the arcade original, which was probably the case. I wish the SNES gameplay could've been fixed. I would've been very satisfied if it played like the arcade version, even if it had sweat instead of blood.

I mean, the game is difficult, yes, but it's nowhere near as hard as other games.

I'm sorry but hacks who remove that sound doesn't quite understand this.

It's not a little more tension, it's a lot of aggrivation to some players.
Having my phone squeal like a smoke alarm every morning would help get me out of bed, but sure as shit doesn't mean I'm gonna do it.

I can only agree about the starfox hack but not about those other hacks as they are not a big deal for me.

This is why i NEVER played this game, despite SMW being no worse than like 3rd in my personal all time fav games list... and i HATED that, and i still hate that to this day lol.. like you, i love me some Yoshi (and everyone, i mean come on, right?!?), and u get him as the main guy in a SMW sequel??
But ugh, hearing ABOUT that crying still cant prep u for actually hearing it; heard it ONE time in a commercial or a friend playing it when at his house, something i obv partially blocked out from my mind, and it was a wrap; no WAY i could put up with that...
Kinda surprised i never really thought to look up a hack like this.... yet another thing to do on the DAY OFF list i suppose

Why are people so annoyed by Mario's crying in Yoshi's island? Like just don't get hit bro. In any other game you'd just die. Plus it literally takes less than 2 seconds to regrab Mario with your tongue

As a previous Sega owner I have to say this: You can add as much blood in the patch as you want, but you will allways be a nintendo sissy boy. Whoaaaaaahahaaahaaahaaa

The SNES port of Race Drivin' was crap enough to be pretty much unplayable. Fortunately, someone was able to hack the game to play as if there was the SA-1 chip aiding the SNES, and the result is pretty drastic. ruclips.net/video/i9_4mwd7cYg/видео.html

Imagine Bubsy having a romhack that fixes his problem with Jumping with momentum, Giving Bubsy Hit points (either a la Bubsy 2 or Sonic) making better bosses and reduces his acceleration speed, it could have been purrrfect

The reason Nintendo was so strict with blood, gore and tits (final fight) was because since they were the most known company they were the ones being sued left and right for anything regarding video games. The move in MK 1 was preemptive.
