@@muslimmetalman, he is not a baritone. This is a tongue-in-cheek joke he has made, in reality. Geoff's speaking voice hovers around an A1, which puts him as a contrabass, actually --- lower than an average bass.
If you like Geoff’s last note in this, I also recommend VoicePlay’s “My mother told me”. That song is brilliant and you get to thoroughly enjoy Geoff’s bass throughout all of it! Geoff’s own solo stuff isn’t acappella, but it’s always only him (well, often quite many of him), with the exception of “Mele Kalikimaka” where he’s joined by the American Sirens. I agree that his beards don’t look real, but they do make him look a lot like the dwarves Thorin, Fili and Bofur.
Geoff is totally my favorite. His tenor is beautiful, (he has 5 octaves) and his arrangements are always smoother than smooth. And then there's the bass. It's not just deep, he has beautiful tone.
Love the musicality of this version. The costuming is amazing, too. Thanks for your reaction. My favorite group song is “Can’t Help Falling in Love “ by VoicePlay
I think I love everything VoicePlay sings... But you just named one of my true favorites of theirs. Can't Help Falling In Love, Go the Distance, Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Geoff is my favorite as well. Love his voice no matter the pitch of note. Smooth and beautiful. My favorite of his is his newest video The Rains of Castamere. Absolutely beautiful. I listen to it when I'm laying down resting or relaxing to go to sleep with my headphones on high. Clears my mind because of the beauty of his voice.. A few hours later I'm either getting up or falling asleep.
It's so much fun watching you ainticipating the low notes. I can see the smile as you wait for it. So cute. You should try some of his other "solo" videos, though often he is his own backing group, as here. These harmonies are unusually low for him but entirely fitting for the song. Geoff's bass is exceptional in being so smooth and soft, plus his words are all clear and carry emotion.
I❤️❤️❤️Geoff’s voice. And the other three are him too! Loved your reaction👍 Please react to My Mother Told Me by VoicePlay too. I know you will love the song as well as the video of it, trust me! Bye from Dutchland👋👋👋
On that one the title is shortened to Misty Mountain. I often listen to the 2 back to back; they sound slightly different but I love them both equally.
There are videos with dozens of bass vocalists across multiple generations that was compiled with only their speaking voices. It's a good way to see the difference between a true basso profundo through low baritone voice types. True bass have a default steaking voice in the first octave and it's a huge limitation because their anatomy heavily limits the upper range. Geoff Castellucci, Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust speaking voices are mostly in the 2nd octave. Their range is significantly higher than someone like John Daniel Sumner. A true basso profundo outside of opera isn't marketable when bass singers with five octave ranges exist.
It's not necessarily a competition. Each of the vocalists you mentioned has his individual strengths and (yes) weaknesses, and each is amazingly talented. Why do they have to be ranked? There is plenty of room in the world for all of them. Same thing for their groups. It's just a thought...
Another a cappella version of this song is called Misty Mountains and is by Peter Hollens feat. Tim Foust. It it just as beautiful and stunning as this one. And for a couple more Geoff x4s see Sixteen Tons and Monster Mash.
There's one more acappella group you should check out, but they're more of an ensemble and they don't have a beatboxer. That would be Voctave, and like Voiceplay, they're based out of Orlando and have a lot of ties to Disney. As a matter of fact, one of their tenors, EJ Cardona, was the featured guest of Voiceplay on their recent video of "Go The Distance." Voctave has awesome bass as well, but they often get overshadowed because the group has a high soprano that is unbelievably good. Depending on the video, Voctave has from 8 to 11 folks singing.
Voctave are amazing as well. EJ has the voice of an angel with a smoothness and sweetness that melt my heart. He is an excellent fit for VoicePlay and that song; VoicePlay's rendition is the best I've ever heard (and I think Geoff arranged it).
Three other bass singers to check out are Tim Storms, Dan Mirabal and Tomi P., all have good solo stuff. And I highly recommend Peter Hollens, all of his covers are great, and he often has other artists join him, it's hard to find someone he hasn't done a collaboration with, he is the collaboration king.
Seconded! When I first heard Tomi P I was like ok I see some potential but he's not quite king of basses yet... but man oh man when I heard Hellfire OMG it was amazing.
Totally agree with the 'fake mustache/beard not looking real' observation. Especially with the 'Geoffin Oakenshield' thing he's rockin' over on the left. But hey, sing a G1 subharmonic in the beginning (7th white key from the left end of an 88-key piano), then a G1 in chest voice at the end, dude can pretty much wear what he wants. 😎
Tim and Avi are great, but Geoff really has them beat. Both in range and flat out robust fullness in the lower registers. Tone, control, everything a basso profundo uses to make it awesome.
Check out his last 2 solos, Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" and Elvis Presley's "Way Down". You would probably enjoy VoicePlay's Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Halo, My Mother Told Me.
Geoff has joined the dwarves Thorin Oakenshield (far left), Gimli (with the knife) and ... I forget who🤷🏼♀️). As low as he gets, it is the haunting melodies that get to me. Before the season us over, check out Oogie Boogie! (And Geoff's highly amusing Headless Horseman and Monster Mash! 🎃 Oh! I just noticed you have some Norse. Check out their My Mother Told Me!
I really just wish that the rumble set on “lay” had been transposed to “beneath” particularly a swoop down starting at the N, only real critique in the video on mr dragon voice himself
Another bassist you should check out is Tomi P. His Hellfire will blow your mind 😤🙆 On another note, did you catch Home Free's version of Born in the USA?
Don't feel bad. Geoff is, hands down, my favorite bass singer. I love Avi and I love Tim, but Geoff just has vocal chords made of butter.
I feel the same. Geoff's tone is just amazing. All three are incredible singers; Geoff just brings something different with the way he uses his voice.
I 100% agree
And he sings about butter well too!
out of the three, i believe he's the only one who is a baritone. but he has the smoothest singing i think
@@muslimmetalman, he is not a baritone. This is a tongue-in-cheek joke he has made, in reality. Geoff's speaking voice hovers around an A1, which puts him as a contrabass, actually --- lower than an average bass.

I love everything that Geoff has done on his own. All four Men at the table are Geoff. Listen to his Headless Horseman.
Geoff blows me away every time.
He is my favorite. I can hear him on every song with Voiceplay. Some of the other bass singers don't approach the notes the same
If you really want to see/hear the amazing range of Geoff's voice, check out his cover of Blackbird. Five part harmony with himself
Geoff is totally my favorite. His tenor is beautiful, (he has 5 octaves) and his arrangements are always smoother than smooth. And then there's the bass. It's not just deep, he has beautiful tone.
I agree with you about Geoff, I love Tim too, but Geoff just has something special about him. And Avi is incredibly talented too, of course.
All 4 of them are Geoff he does it in all his singles love it
Four Geoff's are hard to take. His range is shown through the backup he sings to harmonize with himself.
I DO hope you know they are all Geoff
Geoff is my favorite as well. Love his voice no matter the pitch of note. Smooth and beautiful.
My favorite of his is his newest video
The Rains of Castamere.

Geoff is number 1 with me too.
I❤️❤️❤️Geoff’s voice. And the other three are him too! Loved your reaction👍 Please react to My Mother Told Me by VoicePlay too. I know you will love the song as well as the video of it, trust me! Bye from Dutchland👋👋👋
Check out the cover of the same song by Peter Hollens & Tim Foust. It's just as impressive and still a very different take.
On that one the title is shortened to Misty Mountain. I often listen to the 2 back to back; they sound slightly different but I love them both equally.

Geoff is a noble baritone i'm almost certain. The other two seem like bass baritones or lyric basses.
You should hear his version of the Beatles Blackbird. OUTRAGEOUS!!!
That was awesome. Have you reacted to this song by Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust? All of Geoff's solo covers are amazing
You should checkout his version of 16 tons.
Any of his cover would be amazing
It's not necessarily a competition. Each of the vocalists you mentioned has his individual strengths and (yes) weaknesses, and each is amazingly talented. Why do they have to be ranked? There is plenty of room in the world for all of them. Same thing for their groups. It's just a thought...
Gonna be honest and say that Geoff is the man of men😃
Another a cappella version of this song is called Misty Mountains and is by Peter Hollens feat. Tim Foust. It it just as beautiful and stunning as this one. And for a couple more Geoff x4s see Sixteen Tons and Monster Mash.
There is no way I could say Geoff or Tim is my favorite. I love them both.
Your reaction was fun to watch 😂 pretty much the EXACT same reaction I had
Geoff, Avi and Tim. They are all the fathers of my ear babies.
I bet your wife will love this too! :)
Believeble? They are dwarves! 😄
That was fantastic mate. Thank you. On my playlist now.

Tim Storms seems to be too growly for me. It's not as clear in comparison to the others. But I really appreciate Dan and will look into Tomi.
Even tuffnuts break at the voice of Geoff Castellucci!
Another bass to check out is Tomi P. Especially his version of "Hellfire" , it is epic
Really wish more people knew of Tomi P! Glad to have seen this comment, I would have said the same pretty much!
Seconded! When I first heard Tomi P I was like ok I see some potential but he's not quite king of basses yet... but man oh man when I heard Hellfire OMG it was amazing.
His cover of "Toss a Coin to your Witcher" is also really good.
That last note was subharmonic G1
It can’t be a mistake that the one on the left looks like Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit!
This guys voice is deeper than the Mines of Moria!!!!!!!!
WOW You are missing out on so many Awesome artist videos from the Philippines !
Tim and Avi are great, but Geoff really has them beat. Both in range and flat out robust fullness in the lower registers. Tone, control, everything a basso profundo uses to make it awesome.
Geoff does use instruments in a lot of his personal videos. It does not detract from his phenominal talent.
Geoff is best.
Oh! I just noticed you have some Norse. Check out their My Mother Told Me!
That was the point of the four Geoffs dressing was not a cosplay but mud evil look and feel
I really just wish that the rumble set on “lay” had been transposed to “beneath” particularly a swoop down starting at the N, only real critique in the video on mr dragon voice himself
If you compare the Geoff on the far left to Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit, I think you'll see a fabulous resemblance!
Oh , and Hobbits in my head now. Where's Frodo?
Another bassist you should check out is Tomi P. His Hellfire will blow your mind 😤🙆
On another note, did you catch Home Free's version of Born in the USA?
You have to try his cover of Blackbird!
The Unholy Trinity, so low they must be several miles be low the surface of our world, of which Geoff must be the Evil Overlord
You need to check out his cover of Shanendoah.
you kinda remand me of an Orc . now that you mention it ...lmao...love the reaction though ...too funny
I noticed your shirt. VoicePlay did a top 10 video game songs. Check it out!!
Great reaction! I’d love to see you react to voiceplays newest cover. Nothing else matters by Metallica! I think you’ll really get a kick out of it
The low note is a g1
Tomi P Hellfire you should react to it
8:42
Funny that you was exepcting it but you wasnt prepaird of it...
As impressive as that was, you have to check out Peter Hollens and Tim Foust singing the same song. I prefer that version. ❤️🤘🇦🇺
May youtube chanel napala si baron geisler
You do realize these are all Geoff, right?
hm i guess i found somthing Dimash could not do :P
