I live nearby! The downed gates are indeed annoying, but I too love trains- when I'm not running late. They also block access to MacNeal/ Loyola Hospital, for extended times when long incoming container trains have to stop, and be split to be brought in on separate tracks to the land locked Cicero Intermodal facility.; -don't have a heart attack on the wrong side of the tracks! Great to see something from the hood! I believe that's CSX on the old Illinois Central line running overhead led by a CN loco. I see BNSF locos up there too! Not too many CSX, although I think they own it now.
If you are not a fan of seeing commuter trains over and over and over again, my suggestion is you go on a weekend. I went on a Saturday in December, and the action was much more split over the 6.5 hours I spent there than it was in the 4.5 I spent on a Wednesday in August.
Well shot video. Not trying to nit pick, but the 3rd and 2nd video from the end was mistakenly identified as Lisle. It is actually Downers Grove Belmont Ave.
41:37 - why was there an Amtrak train with 12 Superliner cars and 5 P42s???? That’s even longer than the pre-COVID consist for both the California Zephyr and Southwest Chief
I love the BNSF line, this is by far my favorite
Great video Michael, some great shots. Well done 🤓
