      This is exactly Lynch’s point though… seeing a Girl, even a TV character being brutally murdered, isn’t hard core. Even the representation of that…

      And now it's considered one of the greatest movie ever made. A lot of 90's Twin Peaks fans weren't David Lynch fans at the time, since TP was public broadcast and was known mainly from word-of-mouth

      It’s a whole movie about Laura palmers life, and honestly more Lynchian, in my entitled opinion. This movie is beautiful.

    • @justincannon3621
      @justincannon3621 10 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah, that and it ratchets up the insanity and evil from the final episode of Season 2. Season One was brilliant because of Lynch, and Season III doesn't disappoint, if you know how to read Lynch. Mark Frost shat the bed when he let the network take over and turn it into the moronic, quirky comedy that is S2, because the twenty-something, whorish execs were too fahqin stupid to get what Lynch and Frost originally set out to do. OR even understand surrealism on the most basic emotional level.

      @@justincannon3621 You can't blame Mark. ABC wanted the murder solved in the first season finale, and Mark promised they would. Then he turned in a script with 5 cliffhangers and no murderer. Mark and David both agreed that the mystery was supposed to be in the background of everything else "for a very long time", according to David. But ABC didn't get that, and the audience didn't entirely get it either (a murder mystery conventionally told is meant to be solved like Columbo or Murder She Wrote...but that's not what they were doing with Twin Peaks). Lynch returned to help wrap up the "who dun it" in the first batch of episodes in season 2 when ABC was furious. But then he left again, and there was no plan on what was supposed to hold the show together without the central mystery of who killed Laura. Not knowing the killer, or all the details behind the how and why, electrified every character and every moment. Solving the murder turned all the lights off. (The last 2/3's of season 2 is mostly terrible, but I still love certain moments anyway. And the last hour of the finale haunts many people to this very day. June 10th, 1991. It was a Monday. I, for one, will never forget it. Even the first of those two hours wasn't bad.)
