Looking to use this system for a fire department. Thanks for the great video Chris.
Line in is for a music source so you can multicast music to a zone or zones. It will cut out the music during a page then resume the music after the page is complete. Nice work on the video.
To add to this, line out would be again a Page / Music IN for speaker systems. So you could have Music Audio -> Cyber Data -> Multi Zone Amplifier. This way you can have systems like in retail stores (Kmart had/have this) where when a page comes through the phones & ceiling speakers all broadcast at the same time. For the phones it won't take the line in audio, just pass it through to line out, but during a page, cut in and do it through the line out. Never seen phones be music players, but i'm sure it can be done.
Love the funhaus shirt, I didn't know you were an RT fan
Love your videos, used them a lot already on setting up some retail solutions. One thing I'm stuck on... an outside paging system easily accessed remotely from our NOC in our main office. We have multiple retail locations with live video feeds in our main office, looking for a simple solution to mount a loud speaker at the locations and announce a verbal warning if we see someone outside at night. We're using Hikvision systems (not Hikcentral). New to this specific tech and figuring it out.. any suggestions?
14:02 - 'Line In' is from a BGM(background music) source, into the Cyberdata. 'Line Out' sends the music to an existing Paging mixer amp, IE: Crown 160 MA. Running the BGM this way allows the Cyberdata adapter to perform the function of muting the BGM while someone is paging
Can you do a video on CyberData Paging Server & Paging Amplifier with muticast all hooked up?
Chris, any chance you could do a tutorial on how to configure this with FreePBX? I have one but am struggling to get it working, just keeps giving me a busy tone when I try and dial the extension I setup for it.
Any chance you could do a tutorial about connecting this to the VOIP Paging Amplifier?
Good job man!
How would you add overhead speakers to this? Say there's a building with 3 floors, and each floor has a dining room which has no phones, but has 12 overhead analog PA speakers?
Hello Chris, on my home network I have a xfinity provider internet which comes with VoIP connection for the phone service I have with h them. I don’t won’t to continue paying for the modem they provide me, so I bought my own modem and the edge router lite, what equipment do I need to connect my phone again ? Neither the modem nor the edgrouter have VoIP connection. Would an rj45 converter work? Or do I need a special device?
every time i try and contact paging adapter with sip phone it says busy? any fixs for that?
Great video. In the Paging and Intercom application, can I specify extensions AND multicast addresses? or is it one or the other?
Great question - I would assume you can do both in the paging group, but I haven't tested that. And since I'm not running Asterisk 13, the multicast doesn't work for me anyway.
Sorry to reply to an older video. One of the sites I manage has a number of CyberData SIP Speakers as well as a SIP Paging Amplifier. They've since moved to 8x8 and deprecated the dedicated SIP Server that ran all of these devices.
Now, they do have Polycom Devices on their network, so I could theoretically set up Multicast on all of the speakers and paging amp. Would you have a video on something like this?
Max Paging Participants is a variable you can set under Advanced settings in FreePBX. From what I have read the limit is hardware/bandwidth-based.
You are correct, and it is set to 40 by default - BUT - it is highly recommended that you don't change that. If you really need to page 40 devices, use multicast. Your PBX will thank you.
in asterisk, how many page group can create?
good video! In addition to public address announcements, how about audio notifications and background music?
You can prompt the paging server to play a canned message, up to 10 messages, when enabled.
I have avaya IPO ip500v controller , we need to setup paging system, what device should i use?
we just purchased a PBXact 17.9.0 and it doesnt seem to have access to add Cyberdata. It is not showing as a manufacture that we can add. Also when we activated the system showed an error and now we are trying to figure out why....
PBXacy 15.
Use 239 as this is a private use. It’s the multicast equivalent of 192.168.x.x.
234 address are owned by people who own global IP address blocks. 234.2.1.1 is owned by whomever owns the 2.1.1.x (0-255) address block which is Orange SA in France.
Can I use line in from a mixer to this cyberdata device and broadcast to freebpx conference?
