- Yes, this is a STUDIO version! It's NOT live. Adam posted this on twitter a while ago. It's the only known recording of this song by Adam that's not live.
For anyone who's wondering.. he refuses to release this officially or play it live because he can't stand who wrote it with him (Courteney Cox) and he would hate to have to give her credit.

Some songs just don't benefit from a full band arrangement. I think this is one where piano vocal just works.
Thank you for this. Any "new" Counting Crows song emerges like a life-giving flower out of the junkyard that is most of today's music.

Legit, this is a top 10 Duritz song. Of all time.
First song I listened to this year, the first of January coincidentally enough falling on a Wednesday. That seems like such a long, long time ago.

So THIS is the [at least semi-] legendary song that the former Mrs. Arquette "wrote with a friend" (absolutely no pun intended or desired there). This would have either belonged either on a Counting Crows album proper (had Adam been in enough of a positive & generous mood toward its cowriter) or at least an odds-and-ends compilation. Sad that both Adam and Courteney can't reconcile on a personal basis, but we can enjoy this... (Oh, and I appreciate both for their artistry in each's chosen profession...not taking sides here.)
This song was written by Adam Duritz and Courtney Cox! He just mentioned it on a Instagram live stream.
