Great content. One of the rare, mature automotive channels on RUclips. No clickbate or stupid projects. A real pleasure to watch.
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
I think this might be the first RUclips video that I’ve seen that used the correct fuel injection clamps on the high pressure fuel lines, a textbook brake fluid bleeding procedure and replacement of all the crush washers on drain and fill plugs.
Bravo for doing a better job at maintenance than most dealerships would.
This is what every new used car owner should do, love the content
Even though I don't own an e39 (not yet, anyway, lol), the best practices shown are great. I've been giving a thorough going over to an e30 325i (coupe, automatic now converted to manual) that I picked up about a year and a half ago and have used your videos as references several times. I owe you a beer or three!
Love these ASMR repair vids, doing a whole, much of similar stuff on my e39 routinely too. Good technique.
The steering CHF fluid is missing but Congratulations for all the E39 restoration videos !!!

Some people says the the old gearbox oil should be mixed with the new on cars with high mileage… then you change the fluid a few times while you adapt the mecatronic to the new fluid
Love your content man. You make me almost want to tackle a euro car too. I see you have some M12 tools, the M12 stubby 1/2" impact is sooooo worth the price. Compact and I think something like 250 ft/lb torque. Watching the breaker bar come out for some of those plugs and fasteners, it would be a wise purchase.
I'll have to keep that in mind! Before long I'm going to have the full Milwaukee lineup haha.
Great content , I am doing the exact procedure on my E39 530i , I even purchased the parts lists , its very helpful I used it to buy most of the parts for my car , But I cannot find the fuel filter hoses replacement anywhere , is there a part number for it ? Thanks
Thanks for purchasing the parts list, I really appreciate it. For the fuel hose, you'll need injection rated hose that's 8x13mm diameter (5/16" is equivalent). It's expensive from BMW, but Continental is great quality and a bit less expensive: www.ecstuning.com/b-continental-parts/fuel-hose-one-meter-roll/13537563456~con/
I do fully appricate those video as I just got a e39 myself a week ago. But id kindly as if you would liek to quick show how of you lifted the e39 so you can but those carholders on the spots where ure normally supposted to lift it up? would much appricate this"
Hello! Using a hydraulic floor jack, the rear of an E39 can be lifted from under the differential, and the front can be lifted from a rectangular rubber lift pad that is in the middle of the front subframe's crossmember.
On my "to do" list
When are you putting a big turbo in this thing and getting some real power.
I miss ate super blue.
Wow. Thank y-shaped muffler/resonator near the diff is weird.
Acts as a helmholtz resonator on single muffler cars
How do you normally clean your fluid extractor? I just bought one like that and I'd like for it not be a one time use item. Also, am I noticing that there was still ATF in the pump when you filled the differential? The fluid looked to be both red and yellow.
I just stuff a blue shop towel in it and wipe it out as best I can. It's never perfect, but it's far cleaner than any other transfer pump that gets used for multiple types of fluids.
I wouldn't recommend sanitizing it with brake cleaner because it could damage the plunger o-rings. I also wouldn't recommend filling brake fluid reservoirs because of the small amount of cross contamination that occurs between uses, but for something like an open differential like on this car, a tiny amount of cross contamination doesn't hurt it.
The red that you see in the differential shot looked worse than it was. The diff oil is mostly clear, and a few drops of red in the container makes it seem like half the thing was full of ATF.
@@PracticalEnthusiast Thanks for the info! As a BMW owner it's my job to obsess about things that probably no other manufacturer followers have to lol. Keep up the great content! Also fun fact but those wheels are true two piece wheels! Amazing to think about a manufacturer doing that today. My Dad has a grey 2002 version of this car and the wheels were a must! He regrets selling it to this day.
@@gtcoffman I have 2 extractors (cheaper though), 1 reserved for oil based products, other for water based. That way any cross contamination will be with the same type of fluid, and not mixing oil and water.
You forgot powersteering fluid and engine oil
what function of clutch delay valve bro?
It slows down clutch engagement, meaning if you let out on the clutch pedal quickly, the actual movement of the clutch at the transmission will be much slower. Theoretically, it smooths out starting from a stop and gear shifts. But, more often than not, it causes more jerkiness because it's difficult for an experienced driver to feel what the clutch is doing.
@@PracticalEnthusiast thanks brother, 👍😁
