- You won’t find many workshops with more iconic machinery than Pearsons Engineering Ltd. They specialise in Jaguar, as you can tell by the Group C and ’50s legends being worked on, but there is a lot more machinery magic if you wander around this Aladdin’s cave of motorsport.
They are the classic racing experts featured in episode 5 of our Goodwood Masters series powered by Motul. Thank you to Gary Pearson, son of founder John, who took the time to walk us around his home from home.

Please tell Gary that I will give him only one chance to adopt me before I start to beg. I'm 70 years of age but quite mobile. I live in Australia but I'm sure my wife would be delighted if I buggered off to the UK. I await your response with devotion.
I fit exactly your profile. See if he's considered having twins.🇦🇺
Bruvva! Where are you?@@timothydunn5889
I’m 55, Aussie, triplets could definitely work👍
I'm 60 .. do I get an advance? Joking, the cars are amazing aren't they. working on the XJ220 program was the best job I ever had. Working for Tom was just excellent. I so love this video, what a great bloke
@@jezzter4293 At this rate, we're in line to start a dynasty.
What a genuinely friendly, highly interesting and tremendously talented guy. In another life I would be thrilled to work there.
Genuinly decent fella, very honest and not at all pretentious despite being one of the quickest guys around.
Awesome seeing inside Gary's workshop again, I used to deliver Jaguar parts to him years ago, and was always blown away, every time I walked through that door.
When people say, "Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." This is that. It's great to see.
I also love the idea of someone going to work in F1 as a mechanic and getting to experience that and then their post F1 job could be this. That would be an amazing career!
Great to see an interviewee not interrupted the whole time, a pleasure to watch, from start to finish!
I'm lucky enough to live in Duns, home of the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum and a few years ago, heard a familiar noise coming down the road. One of the classic car magazines had borrowed TKF 9 for a photoshoot in the Lammermuir hills and it was heading for the Museum. I followed it down and was able to get some photos not only of the car but also Ian Scott Watson, who has recently passed away, a great loss. It made a fantastic addition to the Museum display, along with Dario Franchitti's ex-Clark Lotus Cortina. Last June, the Jim Clark Trust organised a fantastic day in front of Duns Castle, to commemorate Clark's 1963 World Championship and I understand that something similar will be happening next year to remember his 2nd.
You’re welcome. The car is there for another season.
Another wonderful episode in this excellent series. Gary seems to have won all the important races and driven so many historically important cars but still seems to remain down to earth and a friendly approachable guy. Fingers crossed you can keep this series going and going.
Brilliant video, pleased to see so many iconic cars being cared for so expertly.
What an incredible interesting gentleman, your father must be proud of you, of the business that was once his. Gorgeous motors. 👏🏼 you’re absolutely correct about there being a missed generation in machinery. Please keep doing what you love.
BRAVO 🙏 that's how you interview famous folks -- all the room for them, their words, their stories -- BRAVO 🙏
What a great video. Thanks for showing this at you tube. My wife and I had the pleasure to meet Gary's dad in march 2013 at Goodwood House. He was very proud of his sons and a very nice man to speak to. We've seen Gary driving lots of cars at Goodwood and Donington. This video brings back many great memories.
What a place to visit 😍😍
So glad to see the revival of interest in all the vintage racing
I love watching it when I can
Wow, just wow! What a wonderful interview and video within this fascinating business! Thank you to Mr. Pearson for sharing his time to show us the the amazing cars that he races, creates and cares for!
Ooooh the Silk Cut Jags .... I worked for Tom in those days on the XJ220, but the Silk Cut Jags were the most gorgeous cars. They would fire them up in the factory & the sound just wonderful. Happy memories. And recently I sold my 3ltr twin Turbo XF Jag to get a Dalmatian puppy dog. I miss the Cat desperately, but I love the idiot dog 🙂 I do really need a car! Agh .... he's 2 years old now & utter chaos. I was well trained for chaos at TWR 🙂
What a Magic place.
Proper petrol Head Heaven.
The Ecurie Ecosse jag. I bet that was transported in theAlexander transporter. My journey man was on the build of the transporter in Camelon Falkirk. His name was John Binnie.
What a lovely and very down to earth fella Gary is.
He has a lovely way of talking and giving just a little bit of his vast knowledge.
I'm sure he could write several books on his experiences with racing cars
and racing them from over the years.
The UK really is the home of F1 and so many other motorsports, and as Gary said,
classic racing has seen an explosion over recent times, greatly helped and promoted
by Goodwood and everything that they are involved with.
Amazing workshop and Gary seems a lovely chap
For me, this is the really exciting stuff. Thanks for posting.
I remember Gary and his father from when I worked for Steve Llewelyn at Silverstone Circuit. A really nice bloke. He ran a pre 74 formula ford then and you'd regularly see his dad driving d types around the place. Amazing thanks
I've seen his Dad go round Silverstone in the 911 pacecar they had years ago.
Great story telling and great to see cars used instead of sitting in a museum, I would like to know what a weeks work on an E type is between races
A master craftsman so unassuming too superb collection of cars too
love these features. Great Story.
Incredible. What a gem and a great antidote to so much hype.
Absolute gentleman
What a nice bloke.👍👍👍
What a great job, fantastic looking cars in the workshop
Real racing cars inside the cave... 🤩👍‼️💯🔥🛢️🏁🏎️🤓
That was excellent.
A life well lived!
The Silk Cut Jag is the best of the best.
Love seeing these shops.
Curious if this was owned by Mr. R , nice acquisition ❤
Excellent
Amazing video! Thank you so much! 😃
Great episode, loved it
Beautiful cars. I love these historic racing events. I can't believe so many of these cars were racing 20 - 30 years ago.
Are many cars normal road going cars converted into racing cars?
Are Replicas like GT40 allowed?
What a legend
Great ❤
Amazing video 👍
I always preferred the Group C jags without the spats.
Bad deal! Where my post go? I worked on OKV3 Aug 1976 Laguna Seca Raceway, Tony Rolt and I went out int eh parade at 136 mph... Phil Hill behind us in Cunninghams long nose D, and numerous other D types! Martin Morris who owned OKV3 then , WIN the D-Type race on Sunday!
Seems like the older gentleman has created a nice little circumstance for himself. He gets to hobnob with the upper crust and drive a lot of these cars. I wonder if he is grooming younger guys to share in the fun.
I think that green flags are the one thing that separates racing people from others, what I mean by that is just what he said in the video and that is a green flag waits for no one and either your ready or your not! That’s hard for many people to understand!
Do they still make Brass Hand Oil?
Q: if you required a ball roller bearing with metric OD and imperial ID where would you procure one, probably from scratch. Bet this man knows.
Is that Ferrari Skuderia Askolins old car? Greetings from Finland
Dribble dribble dribble!
Washani mi peesh Di aiello?

UK and Europe was once the future of transportation and mobility. It is now the Preservers of fine analog automobiles.
The future of transportion and mobility will be the US and China.
What has happen to Jaguar
No charge for the cars in the film .. you’re welcome ..
It's alright for some, proper leg up, talk about the other side of the road, seriously spoilt
Ok...I mean no offense to anyone by this...and I sure hope it isn't taken wrong....but Mr. Pearson is a dead ringer for Greg Lemond. If you doubt this, look up some recent interview footage with Greg Lemond. You'll see it.
😅 🚲 yup
Le'mans Le'mond 😮 go figure
