1055 steel doesn't get the credit it deserves. 1055 has more in common with a mower blade than it does any fancy high-carbon steel. 1055 is awesome because you CAN beat the hell out of it, and then go bang it back into shape. 1055 is great because it is so inexpensive and replaceable. As cheap knives go, these are hard to beat for value (they used to be a twenty dollar knife). Maybe get a Glock brand field knife (bayonet) if you feel the drive for something high-carbon, and still inexpensive - both are awesome choices that you have showcased before. I really like mine. I thought about removing that top finger guard because it interfered with my forward hold, but I never did. This cheap cutter, and its cheap scabbard, really are a very decent combo package. I believe the tip could've been done a little bit better, but I haven't broken mine off yet.
the major issue I have with the budget cold steel knifes is they are made of 1055. while at least it's not a cheap stainless, 1055 is perhaps among the worst steels to make a knife out of you can on the market, it won't hold an edge long, it's liable to hold a bend if over stressed and it behaves more like a sword in stress behavior (IE bending and yielding rather than behaving like a lever) this in the end is not shocking because many swords are made out of 1055 for this behavior. Not to mention you can get D2 or DC53 knifes from china all over the place that beat the living crap out of 1055 for serious use, and often at this exact price.

I really like the handle. It looks futuristic
At 35$ spend the extra 10$ and get a srk
It's not bad. But I like the recon tanto better.
The recon is nice I just wish it had more of a guard.
🙀🙀🙀
...have one...
