I can’t believe that you had the foresight to take a camera in there and shoot this. This is amazing. To see you walking around on the sets is a bit surreal, especially in an era whenever it wasn’t so easy to walk around with a camera like it is today, thank you for this

First I knew of the TV version was when I caught my dad watching it! He didn't normally watch anything but football and racing, but thought it was refreshingly funny and different.

Fantastic! And how lucky were you to be allowed to do that! I was just coming up to my fifth birthday when this was filmed and had just cut my tooth with TV Sci-Fi on my first Doctor Who. Thankyou so much for sharing this - When gems like this pop up it puts a little bit of light back into the grey old world of 2021 ...!

Aww... Thanks man, it was a very special time for me. My first year in the business. Yes, I was very lucky. I'm now editing a book about Douglas Adams' archives.

No, but bits were used in 'The Making of Hitchhiker's Guide' documentary on the DVDs. I thought the bits of me were too amateurish, at the time.

Did you know Douglas Adams quite well Kevin?

    • @KevinJonDavies

Yes, for about 20 years on and off. I met him in 1978 to interview him for a fanzine and last saw him in 1998, I was not part of his inner circle, but he was very kind to me and we did several projects together over that time. I was very fond of him and flattered when his family asked me to work on the new book which is to be published in August 2023. See link in description, above.

Thanks for sharing this unique piece of footage. My first exposure to Hitchhiker's was the TV version, so it remains in a fond place in my memories. I've always wondered why a soundtrack has never been released from this show. Do you know if the audio master tapes exist at all?
