Spot on. As an ex JW I regret against all my premonitions to get baptized at 15 and basically gave away my life to a high control group that proceeded to control every aspect of my life till 1998. The funny thing is they disfellowshipped me when I, on my own volition went to see the "elders" to come clean about some stuff I did as a young man. Disfellowshipping is JWs akin to excommunication. It was the best thing they ever did to me. It was supposed to bring me back but actually gave me time to think and reexamine my beliefs, their teachings, dogma, controversies that as a JW I was never allowed to. Cabt read those "worldly books" they will destroy your faith 😂 I'm now 50 still trying to untangle myself from that crap. I regret all the time wasted in a cult where all joy went to die. I was raised Catholic but once I had a true encounter with the Holy Spirit I quickly learned that a lot of the Catholic religion is paganized (praying for the dead, praying to saints, Mary mother of Jesus is idolized, Catholic leadership under Constantine made Sunday the sabbath even though it's not the biblical Sabbath, Friday evening to Saturday evening is the biblical Sabbath, etc.). Many top leaders including the pope are very corrupt and distort/pervert the Word of God (Bible) and true faith. JW certainly have similar issues so I get it! However, all that said, please don't let that drive you away from learning who the true savior is, Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah who loves all, both Jew and gentile, and paid the debt and suffered the punishment we deserve for our sins. He resurrected from death to eternal life so that we who trust in His perfect sacrifice and resurrection will have eternal life with him after we pass from this world to the next. I have no regrets because my mom quit being a Christian when I was in 5th grade. I am now 71 and so far have lived a good life. I've watched people I know become more miserable and unhappy being a part of that religion. I have no regrets about not being a part of something so detrimental to people. 😊

Funny that you should say that! I saw great hypocrisy from those in the church and turned to a life of seeking pleasures. However, in my association with those who sought pleasure, I witnessed an even more depraved, cold and soulless behavior than that of the religious hypocrites, of which I myself have been! I saw a friend of mine give up his military career becasue he was told he cant serve god in the miltary, its was false securtiy, so all his needs are met for his familiy by the military, he gets out and was working three meaningless jobs just to pay his bill now and barely see his family. I finally came to terms with not believing in my late 20s/early 30s and NOT ONE PERSON ever told me I'd regret being a Christian. Only people who have deconstructed or have been lifelong agnostics or atheist have told me I'd regret it. I definitely regret being a Christian and sadly, I tried to drag my husband and kids down the spiral too. But now, I only regret not standing up for myself. I don't regret spending my time devoted to a religion, but I do regret not taking the time to fully understand it before staying devoted to it. Well, I actually don't regret the good works I did for mankind-- feeding the hungry, helping orphans and widows, teaching, helping others paint their houses, get shelter, grow gardens, etc... The only part I do regret is the "church" part of it... I still gravitate toward meditation/prayer, but knowing how that manifests WE the collective with energy toward a goal. IMO, that's really how prayer works -- at least that's how I see it now (not using anyone's power but my own)... I move the storms. I am. I have the "christ" consciousness. I don’t regret having been a Christian, my deconversion journey has been one of the most fun things I’ve experienced in my life. If I had never heard or read the Bible, I would’ve never stumbled upon all the brilliant information out there. For this reason, I will read the Bible to my kids just like I will read to them the Homeric epics, as fictional literature, not as historical religious truth. My only regret is that I didn’t wake up sooner. I still remember reading some of Homer in school when I was a kid and thinking “wow! This sounds and reads just like the Bible but polytheistic”, I can’t believe I only now as a 30yo realize why the Bible sounds like Homer. It’s truly fascinating that I could put it together as a child but couldn’t as an adult for the longest time. Truly fascinating stuff.

A friend of mine did not grow up in the church (no pressure for his whole life) He often says he is more Christian then most Christians. I think life is tough individual experience with being in church can vary. I and my husband spent years tag-teaming the kids while the other one was at meetings or choir practice or whatever it was for church. Sunday morning was hurry hurry get breakfast find your Bible we gotta go!!!! Just to spend that two hours in different classes and different pews from each other. The money we tithed when we couldn't afford dinner out much less a family vacation. And they're your age, Justin, and I can never ever get that time back. Pascal's wager be damned.
I don't regret being born into a Christian family, or marrying a Christian or raising our 4 children in the church. It was a good experience in many ways, and there are surely worse ways to go through life. ( to be clear, ours was not a hell-fire and terror branch of Christianity) I don't regret leaving the church, I don't regret all 4 of our children leaving the church, we are all far happier without religious delusions. Our lives outside of church are better. I do sometimes regret not finding a way to get my now ex-husband to come out of the church too. I think he'd be happier without a life of church control and guilt trips.
@2:07 for me it wasn't my entire life, but from about 11-30 I was stuck believing that I was waiting for God to change me, free me, save me, give me the holy Spirit/ghost all with the evidence of speaking in tongues. I'm grateful that I never received that gift. Thankfully that mindset changed when I hit rock bottom 3 years ago.
I have had kids in public school tell me in so many words that i would regret. Some things were beneficial to my life. The things that weren't included total social and psychological inadequacy. For me it was such a mixed bag. But all the skeptical examination of it has helped me deconstruct.

I agree with what you said. I have the same problem with the church myself. The church is as lost as the rest of the world, it is field with hypocrisy, delusion, and self righteousness, however, them having it wrong doesn’t take away from the word of God, which I stay loyal to. The church has strayed away from the word of God and follow traditions of men, than bring to much of the world into the church, instead of the word of God into the world. My faith is not based upon the church, my faith is in Yahweh Elohim, and his word, Jesus Christ.

I had to go to court to leave the Roman Catholic Church. Had to be there in person. Made an appointment eight weeks prior just to say where I was baptised and what Church I want to leave. And had to pay a 30€ fee. We have to pay church tax here. Why paying for something I don't believe in. 😅 Left Church a month ago.

He says to believe in Jesus is to believe in a God that cried out to himself, "Why have you forsaken me?" That God in the form of Jesus felt doubt. I did, but l now think it was purely because of indoctrination that l had then...they were 'prophetic' and so now that I'm older, l can see they were because l was SO involved in Christianity, that it was part of my 'psyche' so to speak. Ok this is silly but I regret every Sunday school class as well as Confirmation classes every Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 in 6th, 7th & 8th grades. I just wanted to be out playing with friends but nope, my parents dragged me to these classes & I complained the entire way.

Spot on. As an ex JW I regret against all my premonitions to get baptized at 15 and basically gave away my life to a high control group that proceeded to control every aspect of my life till 1998. The funny thing is they disfellowshipped me when I, on my own volition went to see the "elders" to come clean about some stuff I did as a young man. Disfellowshipping is JWs akin to excommunication. It was the best thing they ever did to me. It was supposed to bring me back but actually gave me time to think and reexamine my beliefs, their teachings, dogma, controversies that as a JW I was never allowed to. I have no regrets because my mom quit being a Christian when I was in 5th grade. I am now 71 and so far have lived a good life. I've watched people I know become more miserable and unhappy being a part of that religion. I have no regrets about not being a part of something so detrimental to people. 😊

Funny that you should say that! I saw great hypocrisy from those in the church and turned to a life of seeking pleasures. However, in my association with those who sought pleasure, I witnessed an even more depraved, cold and soulless behavior than that of the religious hypocrites, of which I myself have been! No one is perfect! But God allowed me to witness both sides, and the truth of the matter is that we cannot judge Almighty God by what man does! It is most certainly better to die with honor than to live in shame!
I feel really sorry for you Justin, because yes, you will regret walking away from your faith in Messiah. I have had to walk away from mainstream church, especially after coming to the understanding that we are still responsible to keep His laws. I've had to unlearn much of what of what I was taught as it has turned out to be false doctrines. That said, not once did I even consider walking away from Him or His Word. You have done what so many people who walk away have done; you have dumped the failings and mistakes of men as well as your own confusion of His Word onto Yahuah. Yes, the church is full of flawed men, false doctrines and is run like a business, but Yah tells us to come out of her my people and He will receive us. There are NO contradictions in the Bible. Your lack of understanding and twisting of Paul's words, as Peter said so many would, has led you to just throw it all away, rather than study to show yourself approved and to pray for wisdom. The bullet holes are not in His Word, they're in your thinking. Such a shame. I don't understand how someone who could put out something as excellent as the Natsarim documentary could come to this. I saw a friend of mine give up his military career becasue he was told he cant serve god in the miltary, its was false securtiy, so all his needs are met for his familiy by the military, he gets out and was working three meaningless jobs just to pay his bill now and barely see his family. My frined was married to the pastors daughter and he just didnt want them to get orders and leave so this guy got convinced that he cant be in the military becasue it is false provsion. Crazy

I finally came to terms with not believing in my late 20s/early 30s and NOT ONE PERSON ever told me I'd regret being a Christian. Only people who have deconstructed or have been lifelong agnostics or atheist have told me I'd regret it. I definitely regret being a Christian and sadly, I tried to drag my husband and kids down the spiral too. But now, I only regret not standing up for myself. I don't regret spending my time devoted to a religion, but I do regret not taking the time to fully understand it before staying devoted to it. I felt like I had to be a good Christian to please my female parent because she indoctrinated me.... it's been 4 years since I last spoke to her and she doesn't show any signs of changing

Well, I actually don't regret the good works I did for mankind-- feeding the hungry, helping orphans and widows, teaching, helping others paint their houses, get shelter, grow gardens, etc... The only part I do regret is the "church" part of it... I still gravitate toward meditation/prayer, but knowing how that manifests WE the collective with energy toward a goal. IMO, that's really how prayer works -- at least that's how I see it now (not using anyone's power but my own)... I move the storms. I am. I have the "christ" consciousness. Its not like that biblical literal stuff (imo, thats FALSE and so easily proven to be false just like all the research you've done)... thats where I AM at. I am the salt. I am the light. I don’t regret having been a Christian, my deconversion journey has been one of the most fun things I’ve experienced in my life. If I had never heard or read the Bible, I would’ve never stumbled upon all the brilliant information out there. For this reason, I will read the Bible to my kids just like I will read to them the Homeric epics, as fictional literature, not as historical religious truth. My only regret is that I didn’t wake up sooner.
I still remember reading some of Homer in school when I was a kid and thinking “wow! This sounds and reads just like the Bible but polytheistic”, I can’t believe I only now as a 30yo realize why the Bible sounds like Homer. It’s truly fascinating that I could put it together as a child but couldn’t as an adult for the longest time. Truly fascinating stuff.

Yep, same here. I regret wasting my youth blindly believing the bible. Like a good Christian should. No questions asked. 😠 What a waste of my mental capabilities, of my youth. I was homeschooled off and on just because what the public schools were teaching in science. My parents kept me in a christian bubble for as long as possible trying to indoctinate me with their beliefs.😠 The same for all my siblings 😠 Maybe they were doing their best, following the example of their parents. But if the teachings don't make sense why continue the indoctrination? "Train your children in the way they should go & when they are old they will not depart from it." A friend of mine did not grow up in the church (no pressure for his whole life) He often says he is more Christian then most Christians.
I think life is tough individual experience with being in church can vary. It can be poetic ceremonious solemn holy but outside of that it can dump on you a whole load of guilt give more money give until it hurts makes you seek answers from an invisible void…cry over Jesus because he suffered so .. a lot of craziness & really doesn’t make sense
but if you are naive or like the dreams you make up in your own mind you are then comforted with idea of paradise then go ahead and knock yourself out …it’s a fantasy world Living in the real world with out a promise of forever is much more realistic Enjoy life while you can it’s short and then it’s over if you ever been knocked out and couldn’t remember anything that is what happens when you die you’ll never remember your life on earth Too much for some to handle

It was a good experience in many ways, and there are surely worse ways to go through life. ( to be clear, ours was not a hell-fire and terror branch of Christianity) I don't regret leaving the church, I don't regret all 4 of our children leaving the church, we are all far happier without religious delusions. Our lives outside of church are better. I do sometimes regret not finding a way to get my now ex-husband to come out of the church too. I think he'd be happier without a life of church control and guilt trips.

I agree with what you said. I have the same problem with the church myself. The church is as lost as the rest of the world, it is field with hypocrisy, delusion, and self righteousness, however, them having it wrong doesn’t take away from the word of God, which I stay loyal to. The church has strayed away from the word of God and follow traditions of men, than bring to much of the world into the church, instead of the word of God into the world. My faith is not based upon the church, my faith is in Yahweh Elohim, and his word, Jesus Christ.

I was raised Catholic but once I had a true encounter with the Holy Spirit I quickly learned that a lot of the Catholic religion is paganized (praying for the dead, praying to saints, Mary mother of Jesus is idolized, Catholic leadership under Constantine made Sunday the sabbath even though it's not the biblical Sabbath, Friday evening to Saturday evening is the biblical Sabbath, etc.). Many top leaders including the pope are very corrupt and distort/pervert the Word of God (Bible) and true faith. However, all that said, please don't let that drive you away from learning who the true savior is, Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah who loves all, both Jew and gentile, and paid the debt and suffered the punishment we deserve for our sins. He resurrected from death to eternal life so that we who trust in His perfect sacrifice and resurrection will have eternal life with him after we pass from this world to the next. I pray you don't throw the baby (Yeshua) out with the bathwater (incorrect translations, wrong teaching, wrong application of the Word, amassing wealth and abuse by religious orgs much like the larger Catholic churches have). I pray you have a powerful encounter with Yeshua by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit so that you'll trust in Him and have a new beginning in your faith and know it's about relationship with Him and not belonging to a church, esp a religious, unsanctified church.

He says to believe in Jesus is to believe in a God that cried out to himself, "Why have you forsaken me?" That God in the form of Jesus felt doubt. Zizek says that Jesus allowing himself to die on the cross is really the sacrifice. The death of God sets us free. It's hard to explain. I think you might like Zizek. I did, but l now think it was purely because of indoctrination that l had then...they were 'prophetic' and so now that I'm older, l can see they were because l was SO involved in Christianity, that it was part of my 'psyche' so to speak. I accepted nothing unless it stacked up with the bible. But a couple of years ago, when I was trying to prove the bible was truth, it all began to unravel, as one by one, l found no basis for the claims in the bible. The Father blessed you with a number of wonderful spiritual gifts that you have abondoned for lies from the enemy. Satan's devices to deceive have, unfortunately, laid hold of you all the while you're saying it's Christ who decieved you. Extrabiblical witness and archeological discoveries prove the Bible is not just historical fact but that God, through prophecy has revealed Himself and His Son as Messiah. Plain and simple you and others in similar situations have thrown, "the baby" (Yeshua) out with the bathwater (man's hypocrisy, selfishness, religious spirit, wrong interpretation, wrong thinking, depraved pastors and leaders, self reliance, Satan's deception and twisting of the Word, man's mistranslation and misapplication of the Word, etc, etc, etc., etc...). It's not wrong to discard all those things (the bathwater), but tossing Yeshua "the baby" is.
No one can overcome the nasty bathwater of the world on their own, mankind is too weak and easily deceived and naturally gravitates towards self and sin. BUT when submitted to the Holy Spirit one not only is made strong, they are MORE than conquerors, they are blood bought and redeemed out of the "bathwater" and no amount of you becoming your own "god" is going to save your ass when the day of judgement is executed. I'm praying for you and the rest (to the real God, YHVH Elohim, not a man-made sky buddy) that your spiritual eyes will be reopened and that you'll return from the pig pen of deception as the prodigal son did. You have a lot riding on the eternal line whether you can admit that to yourself or not. I pray you understand how real that choice will become someday and choose wisely. 💗🕊️
