The last straw for me was learning about the pagan origins of Christmas and Easter. Christmas was my favorite holiday and I was lied to all my life about it. But what really got me was these people who love these holidays are the same ones to crap on paganism and new age practices. Hate yoga because of its origins but not your holidays with pagan origins? That didn’t stop me from seeking the Lord though. Then I started actually reading the whole Bible and then I realized this may not be as loving as I thought. I gaslighted myself about that God is still love. Lol and then I reread Job during the lowest points of my life and it made me angry. 😢

    The people were my downfall.
I too changed churches and denominations a few times.
I went through a nasty divorce about 20 years ago and never went back to any church. I still believed, but the more I prayed, read my Bible and QUESTIONED EVERYTHING....it started making sense that the whole religious thing was a con filled with lies, pagan and plagerized stories adopted and repackaged.
I saw the truth....and the truth set me free!

Nepotism and favoritism helped me realize the superficial pseudo characters that "run," the church. It's just a job, a source of income for preachers. They deceive the sheep unto believing we are all equal...

Our paths were similar. I left mainline church in 2012. I "became" Torah observant because I felt it to be more authentic and more--I dunno--visible or tangible of being set apart as one of my diffs with the church had been how it was the same as everybody else in the world. But since there wasn't any real congregation nearby, I relied on a group in PA and went to their feasts in the fall a couple of times. They were 100 miles away and I was caring for a terminally ill husband so I couldn't take that time every Shabbat. Being TO, the NT was pretty much a nix. The calendar thing was always a PIA. But then the real end came when I realized that god had commanded ritual male genital mutilation. I'm not young or male, but that just culminated the little "ouches along the way of the slavery, murder, all of that. I'd describe it as a cult of continuation. The traction and momentum seem unstoppable and there are too many people highly invested, at levels we commoners don't even understand, in its continuance. And then now today, much of the mainline has caved to those who understand that they have a very malleable voting bloc who will do what they are told and will throw money at whoever appears as a messiah.

For me the last straw was looking at all the old testament prophecy's that were said to be fulfilled by jesus and seeing that all of them were not talking about jesus. Also the fact that we don't even know who wrote the gospel's and that they borrowed from greek and roman myths.

I walked away from "the church" in 2006. I had learned much of church history that I didn't want to be associated with it any longer. We had home fellowship for many years, but had enough of that in 2019 and began our deconstruction of Christianity altogether.

Same with JW, this group loves buildings too😂, my red flag was when they started to ask for donations of a New Video Studio😅I rather asked, why would a God need videos (internet)to let people believe about him nowadays. Why isn’t/wasn’t the book enough to let people believe and repent, if it’s the most trustworthy book.😅

I looked up the etymology of the word church. I want absolutely nothing to do with that place. Anyway, I don't like being preached to. I'm part of a fellowship where we discuss together but no one singularly preaches to us. Before Christianity and I would say during Christianity the Roman church, the church was the place of human sacrifice. And I would argue it still is.

They don’t understand the Bible as you or I do because they do not let scripture define itself, or hear it for what it is. They hear what they want to hear to fit there doctrine, what they need is a doctor. You! Christian truther

Well even though our beliefs differ greatly, I can say I had some pretty similar experiences and have always sort of disliked American "Christianity" as a result. I did have much better experiences with Christians overseas in Asia because they were much less fake and so much less materialistic, but reformed baptists have been some of the worst and most narcissistic people I have met...they always talk about John Calvin and how they are so special because they are "elect", and how they are the only ones that know proper exegesis, etc.

The problem is that the Bible is just a book.... that's open to interpretation. There are all sorts of biblical interpretations and somehow or another, the all-powerful God who can do anything hasn't given any humans a better book to follow. That's the real problem and that's why the church is shrinking everyday.

I have been checking this guy out lately. He seems like a really nice guy, but it seems that he has some mental problems that he tried to "self medicate" with religion and going all out with it. Then he decided that it was all a farce and now seems to have gone the opposite way and is "self medicating" again with being against religion and using RUclips as part of his medications. He has other problems that he needs to learn to deal with in order to go on with life in a somewhat normal way.
