Thanks for taking me along on your adventures! You two are so much fun. We just got back from our 1st road trip in our Model S - from the Denver area to Cascades National Park, then the Oregon coast. Nice to feel the joy of driving again. Also nice to have a good co-pilot to stay on course (good work, Silke!). Kye is very lucky to have you both. Maybe next year we'll try camping again. Thinking of a tent with a sleeve to fit over the hatch, or one of those 'MyPod' trailers. Either way, we're well past sleeping on the ground ;^) See you somewhere down the road.
I use a product called Wash Wax All. Very portable and good for the environment. And very reasonably priced on Amazon. Look for a RUclips video. I highly recommend.
Rolf: Do you keep a "dry wash" product with you to clean your X during road trips? It looked really nice after you cleaned it up after the mud (dirt) highway. Any USA trips in the near future?
Rick S No I don't. Just used a garden hose and soap with a soft cloth was all I had. The front of the car is clear wrapped and the rest is liquid coated. It shines up really easy. I have not ever polished it yet. A few times car washes with wax cycle.
In your professional opinion, do you think it's possible to have a 480 3-phase installed in a home garage? Or are 480 outlets only meant for commercial and industrial applications?
A house in North America only gets split single phase power of 120V/240V at 60 Hz. Commercial sites get 3-phase at 120V/208V. I believe Industrial can also get 3-phase 480V. The North American Tesla wall charger and UMC only work with split-phase 120V/240V. European Tesla Wall Chargers work with 3-phase 400V. To charge with this requires that the on-board charger can handle 3-phase, which the North American electric cars do no have. All NA cars have single (split) phase chargers on board. Because of these difference the European Teslas use the Mennekes plug with more connectors than the NA with just two connectors in the plug.
