- It's a Bullseye! The show once described by host Jim Bowen as "the second-best darts-based game show on television" (there were no others at the time) ran from 1981 to 1995 and was watched by up to 15 million people on Sunday evenings. The theme music was written by John Patrick, who was head of music at Central Television. Now, let's have a look at what you could have won...
I’m sitting in a meeting at the Musicians' Union in London with John Patrick, who is now 87 years old. I’ve just played your version of the Bullseye Theme to him and he has said that your playing is really good and that is an excellent version of the theme, so well done!
John told me the story about when he was asked to write something for this new show, he was told that it had to be upbeat, something people could clap along to, and was definitely not to include any of his usual weird jazz chords (John usually wrote Jazz pieces and is a well known Jazz pianist/performer)… hope that this message bring you some joy!
Ah amazing! Ha, he must have been so tempted to throw in a cheeky minor 9th at some point. Well chuffed that he heard my version and approved of it. What a lovely message to read, thank you :)
Now lets take a look at what you would have won! Super smashing great!
Brilliant! Feels like something straight out of a speakeasy
I can't resist commenting that every few weeks a Yamaha PSR-such&such would be a "Prize Board" possibility (depending on what your dart's hit). In fact I believe in the early series' a Bontempi was featured. LOVELY VID!
Absolutely BRILLIANT. Love it 😃
RIP Jim Bowen
A "National Treasure" of such value that 20 million were the Peak Viewing figures.
You needed a model of a speedboat or caravan resting on the keyboard!
Absolutely. That would be Super or smashing or even Great
Or even a model Ford Granada MK.II
INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ONE! Its a carnet of tickets for the Paris Metro!

Ah cheers BrundleFly. I've had a couple of requests for a tutorial on this, so I guess I'll have to do one soon... stay tuned!
The score for my version of this piece for solo piano is on my channel. Cheers
Sounds a bit like My Old Man Said Follow That Van
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if that was an influence for the composer, they were clearly aiming for the same sort of cockney knees-up vibe
Sheet music please
